visited bostoncafein the evening after the much raved reviews on zomato.
it's a small place, not much ‘ambience’ and from what was told, and experienced, everything was freshly prepared.

ordered : chicken fried rice, chicken burger, cold coffee, mint juice.

the food was good.
loved the drinks- 100/100 for both cold coffee and the very refreshing mint juice.

definitely loved the smiling hosts!!

was in search for a quick bite and this place had very good ratings!
now this is a small homelycafewith a few tables, but the place is quite clean.
the owner is mr lovell fernandez, very cheerful guy and helped us choose from his vast menu. if you find the ambience not up to your standard, please don't turn away! the food was absolutely fabulous! really blew us away! we had the beef stake, beef chili, crab masala and the prawn combo meal.we also tried the mint drink and it was fabulous.
the crab masala was shredded crab meat fried with south indian spices. it had excellent flavor. the beef stake was very tender and juicy. the beef chili was also very well flavored. the combo meal had fried rice, salad, french fries and the chili prawn in batter. all the portions we're very good!

i could go on and on but to keep it short, it's an excellent place for some local food! go there if you love to eat and need value for money.

bostoncafeis just the place for you if you're looking for a non-commercialized restaurant that emphasizes more on the taste of the food and their customers. during our stay in pondy we had visited here couple of times and we were not disappointed. everything we ordered was just perfect. both the beef curry and the fish curry with rice was amazingly tasty and so was the fish nuggets and fries. the owner of the restaurant and his staff was quite friendly and welcoming. until zomato publishes their latest menu here are some pictures of their menu and couple of dishes we had.

trips to pondy mean visiting places likecafextasi, zuka, baker street etc but these are well explored now. so looking for something different for lunch, noticed this smallcafeserving everything from parottas to burgers to steaks with rice and fresh juices at a very decent price. so we decided to try out this place last visit and loved it!

on reaching the location, we were surprised with the size. it looked quite small with only a few tables inside. but then, never judge a restaurant by its size as long as it serves great food, that's what matters. ambiance was ordinary with a few tables n plastic chairs but neat. seating for about 20 people at most with additional space upstairs.

the owner himself was at the cash table taking care of business and it was his family doing the cooking inside. very homely setup and he suggested us to definitely try the beef dishes since that's what they were known for it seems. so we ordered 1 beef biriyani (rs 140), 1 beef curry (rs 140) for me along with a parotta set (rs 35), 1 rice and chicken curry (rs 150). ordered mint lime juices (rs 25) while waiting.

the mint lime juice came soon and it was very freshly made. could see it from the bright green from the ground mint. this place is known for this juice. two of us ordered another glass.

the beef biriyani and parrota with beef curry came first and it was excellent. my parottas were some of the best i've had with that crunch n flakiness while the beef was very tender in the medium spicy curry. it didn't have any coconut oil flavor in it so probably not kerala style.

beef biriyani which i had a taste of was again lovely with lots of tender meat pieces and a mildly spicy flavor. the best dish however was the beef roast which was recommended and impressed us with the flavor and tenderness. got over within a minute. being anglo indians, they know how to prepare meat well. we had to order another serving to satisfy our craving. the homely flavor (in a yummy way :p ) in all the dishes was unmistakeable and seems to be focal point of this must try place. i could see the entire family helping with the cooking in the kitchen so that's not surprising.

service was excellent with water being served immediately and the owner was genial. unfortunately this was the last meal in pondy before heading back but next visit we would surely visit here first and try some of their other dishes like the beef burgers etc. and of course, many dishes here would be ideal "side-dishes" as well. ;-)

boston café is located at mission street, puducherry. we visited this place for dinner, by that time we were really exhausted. our priority was rice, so we were looking for a restaurant which serves indian food. then we came across boston café which has some good reviews. we ordered chicken biryani, rice with nethili curry and parotta. believe me food was delicious and it's like home cooked. food was perfect not too oily and not too spicy. my friend the hungry nomad was also satisfied with the food. so like that our day ended on a great note. restaurant was very small with hardly four to five tables.

bostoncafeon mission street is a homely kind of place which boasts of dishing out the best burgers in town. the patty used in the burger is freshly prepared and is soft and juicy and melts in the mouth. their omelettes are delectably tasty too esp. the french and spanish. the mint-lemon concoction is a healthy option for the pondi summer.all this and more at the price they offer. i say it's a steal.... bon appétit

visited thiscafeto celebrate my wife's birthday and ended up in tasting finger licking gooooood food.

below are the items we ordered.

soup: veg cream(80 rs)
starters: cheese balls(170 rs), paneer fingers(150 rs), prawn pepper(250 rs), chilly beef(180 rs)
main course: chicken steak(280 rs), beef biriyani(160 rs), chicken n veg pulao(160/100 rs), boston special chicken burger(160 rs)
drinks: cold coffee, lassi

all the items mentioned above are top notch. meats are so fresh, juicy and tender. i came to know from my friend that they will start preparing each n every food(except biriyanis/pulao) only after we place an order. hence each order will take 20 to 25 minutes of preparation time. to avoid this, you can call the owner cum chef, preorder your food and get it served on time.

pin kurippu: zomato kooda edho panjaayathu pola. adha naala, zomato marked this place as "temporarily closed". poli'galai nambaadheer. location and address'irkku google aandavarai thodarbu kollavum.

**a satisfyingly fresh culinary experience**

food is frankly top notch, with everything being prepared from scratch.
items ordered for 2 persons:
• chicken burger - the best patty, with freshly ground chicken, veggies, cheese and mayonnaise.
• chicken fried rice - excellent again in taste and texture. moist and can be had without any sides even.
• mixed hakka noodles - slightly thick in size with eggs, chicken, prawn and veggies. spicy according to our liking. overall authentic chinese.
•pepper prawn - asked to be prepared dry and spicy. 1st attempt to this was slightly haywire with salt seasoning. however, thecafewas prompt to redo the prawns and got the spice seasoning correct
• lemon juice (nimbu paani) - refreshing.

i would have rated it a 5 star had it not been for a below par ambience. some work could be put into changing the table linen.

in honest opinion they held on to their usp of preparing everything fresh after an order is placed by the customer. one can be rest assured of being fully satisfied with their quality of food and service.

had gone to pondicherry with friends
saw bostoncaferating of 4.6 on zomato , so we decided to try the cafe,(went twice)
first impression was local pondi home converted to cafe,
then we ordered few of burgers, sandwiches and mains.
must try veg/chicken burger, egg sandwich, spanish omlette and few more
mocktails- mint, grape, cold coffee were best.
the owner mr. fernandez is gem of person, very good and polite staff,
he suggested so many dishes(ask him for what to order) and we order and they were excellent, everything was so fresh and tasty
the quality was amazing, the price they charge are pocket friendly(very cheap) for what quality they give.
only one suggestion of putting air conditioner.
it deserves more then 5 star rating for overall experience.
thank you boston house for making our food experience amazing.
everyone must visit.

ambience - 2.5/5
service - 3/5
staff behaviour - 5/5
food - 4.5/5
value for money - 4.5/5

hmm... something does not add up! the break down of the individual aspect of the restaurant does not support the final score of 5/5!

right?
right?!
right??!

wrong! it does! the answer lies not in mathematics, but in the owner, mr. fernandes.

mr fernandes is an industrial consultant by profession who has built a dingy littlecafeas a hobby. we walked for around 30 minutes to taste the food here based on zomato rating! but thecafewas so underwhelming to look at, we almost turned around and left. but i am glad we didn't.

we were approached by this hyperactive man with more salt than pepper in his hair, eager to take our orders. that was the owner mr. fernandes. we chose grape mint juice and chicken burger as our starters. and we ordered a continental platter of fried rice, french fries, salad, collared greens and smoked chicken as our mains.

the grape mint juice was totally out of this world, which warranted another glass for the both of us. the burger was not the best one to look at, but it tasted great! so much so that i ate more than 30 percent of it while just wanting to take a bite! oops!

in between the dining was talking to mr. fernandes. a very interesting person to have a conversation with. the way he was greeting customers led me to believe most of them were regulars in his joint. he was running around, offering seats to people, going back to the kitchen, giving updates on orders, and settling bills. while being helped by only one more pair of hands who was equally competent in the whole process.

he went down the memory lane to talk about the time he was in my birth-place in kolkata. a time we were not even born. walking the dalhousie lanes to buy industrial pipes for his job. he has come a long way from there. now he acts as the pivot for manufacturing companies, connecting buyers to the suppliers. but he could as well have been nothing other than a restauranteur and i am sure he would have been equally, if not more, successful.

the service was a bit slow for our mains. on questioning, we came to know there is not a single piece of cut vegetable in the kitchen. when an order is placed, everything is created from scratch. everything is as fresh as the literal meaning of the word fresh. and when it finally arrived, it was delectable.

we really enjoyed our whole dining experience here. i quote my companion, "if you come to pondicherry and you miss this, you will miss an experience!"

he was right. you should not miss this place.

highly recommended.

was looking for legendary eateries in pondicherry and came across boston cafe.

was here for a dinner with 4 of my friends. if you are planning to visit this restaurant as a group, i'd suggest you to make a reservation.

bostoncafehas a decent ambience. this is a very small place and also feels congested. service at bostoncafewas a little disappointing. though the staff was courteous, orders sometimes take forever to come. the duration of our meal was around 2.5hrs which is a lot imo. they don't accept card payments, but accept payments via paytm and upi.

ordered veg balls, paneer 65, cheese burger, veg club sandwich, veg noodles, french fries and mint juice.

veg balls, club sandwich and burger tasted good. rest of the dishes were disappointing. paneer 65, fries and noodles were too greasy. mint juice tasted average.

if you're a vegetarian, you can give this place a pass.

ambience - 3
service - 2.5
taste - 3
value for money - 3

will i be visiting this place again?
may think of giving this place another try. but will be expecting faster service.

on our last day in pondicherry, my friend and i were leafing through the internet to find some authentic soul food, when we stumbled upon this gem of a place. boston café is located on one of the busiest streets in pondy, right opposite to taka’s pizza. therefore, finding a parking spot could be a bit of a hassle.

we ordered steamed rice, tawa chapattis, chicken roast and prawn curry, the owner’s recommendation. it took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive at our table. the chicken roast was so good that we ordered another portion of it after devouring the first one in about five minutes. the prawn curry was spicy and tangy, a typical preparation in the coastal town of pondy. we felt at home for the food was simple and yet soul satisfying. when we asked if they had any distinct beverage options, the owner recommended the mint cooler. it was truly refreshing for our bloated bellies.

indeed, one can run a restaurant successfully by just serving good food. boston café is one such example. thank you for the lovely food and hospitality, i’ll be back for more.

this is the only place in pondicherry where we enjoyed both the food and the hospitality. as you can understand from my other reviews of pondicherry restaurants, the experience wasn't very pleasant anywhere else. bostoncafewas an exception. the food was simple, yet delicious. the owner's kid was telling us that this place was her father's passion project and he pursued it. they have decent variety on their menu for such a tiny place and all the dishes we had were super fresh and very well prepared. if we ever visit pondicherry again, we will definitely go back to boston cafe.
