boshamps seafood & oyster house

unfortunately we were unable to dine here because despite arriving at 8:30 pm, an hour before closing, we were turned away because the manager instructed the hostess to stop seating tables! they just lost our business and i don’t care how popular a place is, that’s just bad business!

worst restaurant we have eaten at in destin.. living just over an hour drive away, we make the trip down to destin 3 or 4 times a year. while we have our favorite restaurants, we like to try out different places on our trip. this place seems to get good reviews and is featured on the beach network, so we decided to give it a try. first the good. it is a nice place with friendly service and a nice view. unfortunately, that is all that is good about it. we started out with the oysters rockafeller. they were cold, no spices what so ever and almost no spinch on them. they were served in the same pan that they serve the raw oysters in. this is rediculous. they should be in a pan with rock salt around and served right out of the oven so they are piping hot and the rock salt will help them maintain there temperature while eating them. this was almost a get up and leave deal for us, as we love good oysters, but we decide to wait and see how the seafood gumbo was. mistake again. the gumbo had almost no seafood in it at all. i had one shrimp one crawfish tail, no crab, no fish, and loaded with okra. i still haven't figured out what type of seasoning that they had in the gumbo, but it left a bad after taste, and unfortunately, there was no cajun seasoning it it so it was very very bland. at this poiint we decide enough was enough. we cancelled the rest of our order, paid our bill and left. if they can't do the appitizers and soups well, i didn't even want to try their entree's. the insult to injury is that the prices are extremely high for what you get. skip this place and go next door. much better food for about the same price.

atmosphere and location are great, the food is mediocre.

our favorite restaurant in destin. great atmosphere, delicious oysters. steaks are great and the fish dishes are fantastic. can be a wait, but it’s a popular place!

still too new to tell. stopped here for lunch last week. the building and ambiance itself is beautiful, and the waitstaff was very accommodating and friendly. lunch menu was quite limited. my beau had fried shrimp basket and i had fried fish basket. meal was good, but we both asked for cocktail sauce and got one little tiny container for the both of us, which is ridiculous, and i shouldn't have to ask for more, when common sense would be a container for each person. he had a beer, good/cold, i had a cocktail..they do not have a good choice of liquors yet..and i settled for something i really didn't want and of course..it was terrible. i let the waitress know and she brought me something else, and took the first drink off the bill, which i really didn't expect and was nice of them. all in all, it was a good experience. i will try them again for dinner and see if that menu is better. i never write off a place on the first visit unless it's horrid. i wish them well though, because the restaurant furnishings itself are totally exquisite. whoever designed it's décor and structure, has great taste.

grouper on feta souffle. the dish was very well presented and the taste was phenomenal. i was a little weary of getting the dish at first because i was worried about the feta being over wealming. it was an amazing contrast to the dish. the only down side is the price. it is extremely expensive for what you get. would i get it again yes absolutely as long as the price goes down when they are actually in season

very positive. i operate a restaurant in the neighborhood, and after trying boshamps i felt that they did a real good job, alan phillips is a very well respected restauranteur in this community, looking forward to going back soon

great atmosphere and great food!

we had an amazing experience here. we ordered the southern trio with homemade pimento cheese, egg salad and tuna melt, shrimp po boy and blackened flounder sandwich. we honestly could have done without any one of the three and if you aren't starving to pieces the entrees are shareable. it was well worth the price.

great lunch. we are visiting from ohio and a friend from the area took us here for lunch. the food was absolutely delicious. i had snapper and mac and cheese. the mistakenly brought cheese grits instead of mac and cheese so i ended up with both. wow. really, really good. highly recommend.

after checking in to our hotel for the week my husband and i heard that boshamps is the place to go for locals and tourists. well, even though the place is rumored to have a few kinks to work out we decided to try it for dinner anyway. the atmosphere is beautiful; the large windows and wooden decor really makes the restaurant stand out. our waitress recommended some of the baked oysters and then also the catch of the day. we thought the menu was a little pricy but honestly, the food quality made everything worth it. i don't mind paying top dollar for top dollar food. the service was fantastic; the waitress was funny, personable and made us feel like locals (thanks whitney) after a delicious dinner we ventured out to the deck and bar areas outside, again, just beautiful. their location is absolutely perfect. i highly recommend boshamps if you're looking for a great meal with an even better atmosphere.

this restaurant is fairly new and you can definitely tell the minute you sit down. our meal experience unfortunately proved that they have not ironed out all of the kinks yet so do not expect a flawless meal. we had a larger party (eight adults and two kids) but the restaurant was not that busy. i had ordered the fried fish basket and my husband had the fried shrimp basket. should have been easy but my fish had an almost old grease/burned taste. another person in my party had her fried shrimp taste this way as well. however, my husband's was obviously fried in different grease/batter and was much better. also, we only received one basket of hush puppies for our entire table, with the waitress promising to bring more but we never saw them (not the best so that ended up okay with us). also, when i made the waitress aware of the bad taste to my meal, she did try to rectify by bringing me a freshly made basket, which was much better. i unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant at this time, especially when there are much better options in the area.

pretty good to me!. great location and outdoor seating was awesome. good drinks, and service. the oysters were pretty dang good to me and the service was great. food was good, a bit over priced but still good.

we've been here twice. although the wait is always a long one, it is worth it! the food is fabulous! we loved the oysters bienville and rockefeller. the summer salad is divine, as was the roasted grouper. it's a nice mix of fine dining within a casual atmosphere.

good food, terrible ethics. ate here with the wife on 9 may. it was the last night of our trip to destin, fl. the food was good! our bill total was $63. i tipped $15 for a grand total of $78. i thought it was a bit high for just the two of us, but i did have two beers so maybe they brought up the price. when we got back to our condo i called my parents and told them about the restaurant. while i was on the phone i had my receipt in my hand. i noticed that i was charged $26 for fried chicken, which seemed high. i checked on boshamps website and the fried chicken was listed for $17. so i was overcharged by $9. without that $9 in my bill i would have tipped less also, so i really spent $11 more than i should have there. i immediately called boshamps and talked to the manager on duty (i forgot his name). he was aware of the screw up in the computer and took my name and receipt number (0232 on 9 may) to fix the bill. he told me that i would see another boshamps charge for the corrected amount. he also asked me to give good reviews to boshamps on the internet. i took him at his word and ended the call. i checked my credit card statement on the 15th (6 days later) and nothing had happened yet. i called again on the 15th. i talked to another manager. again, i did not record the name. gave him my receipt number, name and cell number. he assured me that he would take care of this and apologized. you would guess that the story would end here..., but it doesn't. nothing happened again. i called this last time on 17 may. i made sure to get a name this time. i talked to debbie, the receptionist/secretary and she told me that she would have one of the managers call me back. one of them did, norm, who left me a message and said that he credited my card. but still..., no credit for the $9. this isn't about the $9. this is about doing the right thing, charging the correct price. i will never eat at boshamps again. and i will post negative comments on boshamps facebook page and any other restaurant website i see. its very hard to get a good name but very easy to get a bad one. boshamps is off to a bad start folks...
