b.o.'s fish wagon

bos !!. cant get anymore basic that this. food and drink. top notch fresh seafood and everything homemade. ill talk about the seafood later. but im a finatic about potatoes. if you dont have good potatoes, your no good. so i am a big supporter for almost any restaurant that has fresh fries. id rather have one fresh french fry that a pound of frozen fries. the moral here is; bos has real fries.
fried fish, i can take it or leave it. so they will grill it if you ask. but i dont bother. the first time i went here, i took a gamble on the scallops. most expensive thing on the menu. well, never had anything else . get them every time. grilled scallops with a dash of teriyaki and accompanied with some caramilized onions. and the key lime sauce to put on them, or dip them in. its a mayo with key lime juice. im making it myself now. and i get fries and black beans & rice. (i know. 2 starches. but they are so dam good.) i dont eat them all...
the last time i was there, i put in the order. waited the usual , didnt see any scallops. many people went up and time went by. a lady appeared from the back with a plate, i saw raw scallops. she put them on the grill, looked around a bit. sir, are these your scallops?? yes ! im so sorry its taken so long, i had to shuck them.

the grouper piece was large and yummy, and the fries were hand cut, salty, and very tasty as well.

totally epitomizes key west...quirky, but tiny and fun. excellent fresh seafood and a delightfully eccentric atmosphere.

amazing conch fritters, fried grouper and fries with an ice cold beer. very much not fancy. it's a cash only shack and i will go again and again.

amazing mahi mahi tacos! if you don't have them, you're missing out. all of the people complaining about the price must not have eaten anywhere else in key west where everything is overpriced i.e. $8 bowl of oatmeal. this place is off the beaten path and well worth the walk.

fun place to eat and great food. the place has a lot of character. the decor is fun to look at and you can leave your mark on the place by putting your name on the walls. there are also chickens everywhere which is really cool (not sure if sanitary, yolo). our table all had the fried grouper sandwich which was really great. the key lime mayo and the spicy sauce really complemented each other and made the sandwich awesome. we also had an order of rice and beans which were good too. overall, the food was really really good and went perfectly with a cold beer. i would come back and it's really worth it especially with the fun atmosphere. it is also a bit away from the cruise ship, so you don't get that much traffic in the restaurant which is nice.

cute place with lots of character. nice folks. food and beverage -overpriced, poorly prepared and just not a decent value. but, don't be put off, just try it yourself.

was recommended to us for fun decor with tree growing out of the bed of a truck and the grouper sandwich...we found the teenaged/young adult staff nice and ordered the $13.95 grouper sandwich (no sides included). it was served hot on a fresh roll with tiny bit of mayo, some lettuce and tomato in plastic basket. it was very bland. absolutely nothing special about it. no special sauce, seasonings, nor even any salt or pepper that we could taste. kitschy beach bum decor with open to air seating was good vibe for the budget flip flop young crowd that was seated at the other 3 tables but, way over priced imho. with so many choices of great food...we are still confused as to why it is popular. walked across to pepes and had good house made key lime pie $10 with tip.

a must visit!!. get there early.. the food is so good..

every local i talked to recommended this place..

the soft shell crab sandwich is what i wanted, but they sold out by 1pm.. so i had some fish, simple.. well worth the money and def will return..

not so much. the famous fried grouper wasn't anything special. the homemade conch fritters were really good. the breading was favorable w/ little conch in middle. order and sit down. open outdoors lunch spot. neat atmosphere- hole in the wall kind of place.

best fish sandwich and conch fritters in town. we went there 4 times in a week.
