terrible. worst seafood in florida. the fried shrimp looked and tasted like they came from the frozenfoodsection of the grocery store. to top it off we waited in line for over an hour!

where locals go for seafood. if you want great seafood at a reasonable price in this area, take the time to find boondocks. no cloth napkins here just picnic tables at the end of a marina. staff is attentive, foodis great (unless you came here for a hot dog - are you kidding me?). kids absolultly love the place.

go! often!. loved this place. walked in last night for the first time (we're vacationing from the midwest) and felt immediately at home. fun, unpretenious. 12 huge oysters on the half-shell for under $10. ridiculously good. perhaps some of the best new england clam chowder i've ever had: broth was flavorful and appropriately creamy but not goopily thick, lots of clams, and they were tender and sweet, not rubbery. score! seafood paella had a wonderful sauce and lots of seafood, and the fish reuben was so simple and completely addictive. there's something to be said for simplefoodperfectly executed and served with a smile and a laugh. and, just to complete the picture, a white egret named mitchell stood adorably 2 feet away from our table supervising the proceedings. not kidding. loved him. loved the place. pay no attention to the fools who quibble about this or that: boondocks is a family business with family recipes, generous portions, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and killer key lime pie. go. now.

our 1st visit to the boondocks and this open air, marina fri t restaurant is very good. service is excellent as the whole staff serves the table. the menu is quite large and quite varied so this is suitable for almost everyone. today we ordered the hot dog with fries and cole slaw, the tuna melt which is a grilled tuna steak, tuna salad, grilled shrimp caesar salad, and appetizers- onion rings and a stuffed seafood portobello mushroom with melted cheese.
everything was very fresh and tasty. the only thing i didn't like was the bun for the hot dog. i think it's the typical bun you may find on a lobster roll. i thought it was tasteless so i ate the hot dog bun-less which was just fine.
all of the servers; whitnee, chuck and pat were great, friendly and provided comfortable service.
one fun thing to do here is buy fishfoodand feed the fish just off the dock. huge schools of catfish surfaced to feast.
love this place and will return for sure.

expensive, over-priced and disappointing. went here for dinner on a sunday night. the place was packed with an hour wait. we grabbed a drink at the bar (also full, but we stood at the edge and had our drinks outside on the benches). they only have bud light on draft, everything else is bottles as far as beer is concerned. the actual bar drinks only have one type of rum and all beverages are served in plastic and styrofoam cups.

after waiting an hour, we got a table and got the garlic fried mahi and fried shrimp. everything came in plastic (bowls, plates, etc). my mahi was so fishy it overpowered the garlic on top, overcooked and i just couldn't finish. my fiancee's fried shrimp were exactly the same shrimp you'd get in the freezer section at publix. literally...

for $16.99 at a seafood restaurant (even though it isn't fine dining), i'd expect to get more than a few factory-frozen shrimp that were dunked in a deep fryer for a few minutes. i don't understand how this place so busy packed... thefoodwas terrible, the prices were way too high and the ambiance wasn't really that good. it's on the intercostal, but you're sitting at a bunch of docks without a view and everything is falling apart.

we mentioned the quality of thefoodto the manager who admitted they don't actually bread or prepare their own shrimp and was kind enough to take it off the bill since she ate only one.

we will never be returning.

love this place- the owner is the best and the servers always remember our faces and what we order (because it is the fish reuben every time! yummy!) it is not uncommon for us to pull up to the docks in our boat, they see us walking up and they start making rum runners for us. the service rocks!
thefoodis great, but the people make it even better!

not impressed. given the standard of fine dining on the water that other ponce inlet restaurants maintain, and all the positive reviews, i had higher expectations for this place. the wait was over an hour, which was reasonable given the season. however, the wait staff were stretched to the max, unfriendly, and borderline inhospitable. thefoodwas sub-par and very run-of-the-mill for a seafood restaurant. wait staff seemed more interested in serving bar customers than those in the dining area. an additional safety note, if you have small children, the rope railing around the edge of the water is not secure enough to catch little ones from falling.
