i love the place! very interesting ambiance. atmosphere is casual and relaxed.servicewas friendly and perfect. delicious gumbo, cubaniche sandwich and "cuban cigars" tapas. true variety of wonderfully delicious ethnic foods.

the best way i can describe is diamond in the rough . the food and customerservicewas amazing. i don't like eating out but boogaloo is make me want to eat out

this was my 1st time and i really enjoyed my experience! the food was awesome and theservicewas impeccable!

i have never had a pleasant experience because of the horrible bar tenders. i have bar tended downtown and in the loop and if i was naive in customerserviceas these guy i'd have been fired by management at my tending jobs. i hate to bring race into this but the logo is a white power fist, and the male bar tenders are muscular bald white guys. my white friends generally don't have an issue but they noticed my treatment and suggested i write this review. i could go into more detail but it would just be myself letting off some steam. there are plenty of goo business on the same street.

very rude. this restaurant is one of the worst and very pretentious places i have ever had a meal. the atmosphere is unfriendly, theserviceis unavailable, and the ownership is unfortunately, superior to their customers. i would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

bad service. i went there a while back (maybe a year?) and remember the food andservicebeing fairly good... nothing to rant and rave about, yet nothing to complain about. well i went with my boyfriend not too long ago and we were literally sitting down for 15 min at a table and the waitress avoided eye contact with us the whole time. finally had to flag her down and she brought us water another 5-10 min later. she was completely ignoring us. we got up and left. totally not worth it. won't be back soon.

great fun, great food. theserviceis outstanding, and the food is delicious. the plantain appetizer can't be missed. the nailed the combo of flavors by combining it with goat cheese and a red pepper coulis.

horrible service. the first item i ordered they were out of, completely understandable. so i made a second choice and was informed when all the other meals were brought out that the were out of my dish. then after making a third choice of an item i wasn't particularly excited about, twenty minutes it came out even though its was just a panini and fries. the waiter then continued to ignore of table until we have to flag him down for the check, on which he charged us for the first item i ordered and they didn't have, and also for the mediocre panini i was served. on the rare occasions i go out to eat, i expect a good meal andservice- neither of which boogaloo provided.

food was above average, but not the best. however theservicetook forever. we had to flag our waitress whenever we needed anything. if it were busy i would understand, but we were almost alone at lunch.

great food, lousy service. i've been to boogaloo a few times and love the bar and food, but theserviceleft a lot to be desired. it took us forever to get seated, and even though there were a few tables that could have been pushed together to accommodate our group on the restaurant side, we ended up eating on the bar side with all of the smokers. our server came over and promptly took our orders, but never asked for drink orders. i had to get her attention to get water, and my friends had to flag her down later to order more drinks from the bar. my seat faced into the kitchen, and we could see her just hanging out in the kitchen, chatting with other staff members, so it would have been nice if she had been more responsive to our table and checked on us a little more frequently.

i ordered the chicken and andouille gumbo and the cubaniche sandwich. the gumbo was excellent and well-flavored, just the right amount of spiciness. i would have enjoyed it more, though, had it come out as an appetizer, instead of with my food. at most places i've been where i've ordered soup or other appetizers, the waiter asks whether i'd like it to come out first or with my meal, otherwise it usually comes out as an appetizer. if you order the soup, you may want to specify that you'd like it to come out first. because i was trying to eat both the soup and the sandwich and fries while they were hot, i didn't fully get to enjoy everything as much as i would have liked.

almost everyone else in my party got a version of the jerk chicken, either the half chicken with plantains or the jerk chicken sandwich. i tried some of my friend's chicken with plantains and it was excellent! the food is really great, and i was pretty satisfied with my portion sizes for the cost. based on my experiences, and by the other reviews on this page, i think they need to spend more time training their staff to be more responsive to customers. i'd go back for the food, but probably not at a peak time or with a group larger than 4.

they must run on carribean time. so i've been here twice. lots of other comments say that theservicestaff is really friendly, so it might just be something about me in particular that they don't like, but every time i have been here, i got the impression that theservicestaff thought they were too cool for me.

also, it took forever.servicewas really slow, our server was almost never around. i don't know where he was, it was slow when we first showed up so it wasn't like he was hopping from table to table. slowserviceis sometimes acceptable, when they're really busy, i know that servers are only human.

i'm pretty sure we had the same waiter both times we went.

the food was excellent. i really enjoyed the food immensely.

delectable and friendly. i found myself here on a quiet tuesday night and i have to say this is a great place for a business traveler to eat alone. i sat at the bar and theservicewas fast and very friendly, and the few locals who were there were quick to strike up a conversation about their favorite menu items. i ordered the jerk chicken wings which had a lightly spiced dry rub and came with a savory coconut rundown sauce that while not entirely authentic jamaican were still very good. for my entrée i ordered the jambalaya which turned out to be your standard red - chicken, andouille sausage, and shrimp jambalaya. it did not disappoint. i was stuffed after all of that, but intrigued by the ravings of one regular i had to try the bread pudding for dessert. it was excellent, but i had to stop myself after only eating half of it as i feared i was going to put myself into a food coma! if i lived in saint louis, this would be one of my regular haunts! great food! great service! i give these guys an a+.
