we'll be back. ever the plan-ahead types (???) we decided to celebrate cinco de mayo a day early. we had passed bonefish grill in camp hill many times and thought we would try it. to get there, we had to enter through the bon ton parking lot and do a bit of a wind-around. the restaurant is clearly visible, so we made it okay. the well-filled parking lot attested to the fact that a whole bunch of people like this place; agoodsign. we entered the building, walking into the large smokeless bar area with folks eating and drinking, as well as a separate large dining room with a hostess table staffed by a very nice young lady and a pleasant young man who seemed to be everywhere and doing everything. having no reservations, we waited about fifteen minutes, very reasonable for a saturday night walk-in. the bonefish grill, part of a restaurant chain, is somewhat like red lobster in appearance with more sophistication and lowered lighting. i noted that i saw no children in the restaurant and i do not know if they have a children's menu.
we were seated in short order and turned over to the ministrations of our server, christine, who did a fine job welcoming us and pointing out the specials. there is a friendly and efficient waitstaff who keep an eye on their tables. i didn't see anyone looking around for their server the noise level is a little high, so sometimes it was hard to hear anyone who was not sitting at our table, but the noise, more of a loud murmur, was people having agoodtime eating and enjoying each other's company; no problem here. we chose to share the ceviche for an appetizer, with my wife choosing the mixed grill with the sirloin steak ( you can upgrade to a filet mignon for $6) with a mango sauce, while i chose the all-seafood new zealand dory with shrimp and scallops. the ceviche was certainly adequate for two and we were well-pleased with our selections for entrees, sharing little bits with each other and observing that the kitchen knows seafood.. my wife's steak was a bit chewy, but this was a minor quibble, since the fish and seafood were very good. the warm bread with the herbed olive oil was a nice touch.. christine checked back with us several times to make sure we were enjoying the food, and keeping our iced tea glasses filled
we are not normally dessert people, but we decided to spring for the strawberry shortcake. after we ordered, christine came back, slightly upset, that they were baking fresh shortcake and there would be a delay. we were not pressed for time, but this was seen as enough of an inconvenience to provide us with two cups of french press coffee! the dessert was worth waiting for: large portions! my wife even had to box part of hers for later consumption. the cost was most reasonable; we have paid more for a lot less.
bonefish grill has agoodthing going here, and judging by the number of people who were there, others agree. whatever growing pains they mgiht have had seem to have been resolved, and we will definitely plan a second visit. nice folks, verygoodfood, reasonable prices..what more can you ask for? thanks, christine!
