bodega. favs are the empanadas, chorizo, peppers, banana split & the fabulous wine

we came as a group and had the set menu. memorable dishes for me were the pork sausage with pickled daikon and carrots on lettuce, chargrilled calamari and the banana split. i am not usually a dessert person, but the banana split was superb. highly recommended. everything else though, seemed way too salty or quite ordinary, in comparison. i was looking forward to trying the fish fingers, but i was quite disappointed. i know the toast is supposed to be charred, but i am not sure if it is supposed to taste burnt. all i could remember was a strong, burnt flavour after every bite, which overshadowed an otherwise great dish. staff were excellent. i loved how they always managed to have a little chat or joke with us as they were serving our food, as opposed to places where they just dump the food in front of you and leave. ambience is a little noisy.

the service was excellent, staff were extremely friendly, they often came and asked how we were and what would we like. always wanted to try latin america tapas however maybe they weren’t for me because we found all of the food extremely salty, the servings were small and very expensive. also they did not cater to children and we had a toddler. there weren’t any high chairs available.

good food.. a nice twist on tapas. great service and a nice place to catch up with friends. highly recommended a
must try! great decor too.

... and oh boy do they forever alter your image towards spanish food. seared scallops on morcilla, sandwiched between thin pastries and topped with yoghurt tahini

funky but overpriced. this place is pretty funky, with cool tunes and decor. unfortunately, the food menu is pretty limited and on the pricy end for tapas, and the wine list was much much more extensive but disappointing. the decision to include only wines from hispanic (spain, argentina, chile, etc) nations means it was unnecessarily expensive and our choice of a $50 bottle was rubbish; probably the equivalent of jacobs's creek in chile.

most amazing wait staff.. i took my partner to bodega for his birthday on friday and i happened to faint in the bathroom before any of our meals arrived.
i called for a waitress and the attention i received from not only one waitress but all of them was incredible.
they attended to me for 30 mins, ensuring that i was ok, getting me water and jellybeans!
the chefs were kind enough to pack up our food in whatever packaging they could find, ensuring that we didn't miss out on their amazing food.

the kindness of all staff here made a scary experience not too bad.

my partner and i had a wonderful dinner at bodega. we got that not long after 6pm on a saturday night. the place was already crowded. we were directed to a long shared table. we were told that we'd have to vacate the table by 8:30. this was no problem. the wine list is mainly spanish in origin and a little pricey. we had two beers. we had three dishes, all of them were interesting, tasteful and well presented. we asked the waitress about one ingredient. she spoke to the kitchen staff and returned promptly with an answer. the all female wait staff were polite and professional. the meal cost $80. if you are looking for something with a difference and quality i would recommend bodega

this was reminiscent of the hartsyard po boys with the concept and size(but harts were better). these were delicious though - the bun was soft and sweet.

great food and drinks. good ambience. the tapas and mains are great. loved the pork sausage dish. definitely going back there for another date night.

love it. can be expensive however food is excellent quality. great wine list. arrive early as it can be difficult to get a table.

really enjoyed this restaurant! love the layout, big shared table, small quaint buzzing setting. they made me a delicious cocktail concoction, and v tasty tapas style dishes. the food is designed to share, and it was v filling. had 6/7 dishes between the 2 of us. more than enough! can’t wait to come back 😋 highly recommend

i loved the original bodega on mary st. unfortunately the new digs on holt street just don’t have the same feel. communal table, and very dark but so so loud inside. we couldn’t hear each other. food is still great but unfortunately the new place jst doesn’t have the same feel so i probly won’t return.

interesting food, wonderful service and friendly staff however i'm not the biggest fan of their decor but that is ok.

definitely make a reservation if you plan on going here, i booked around lunch time on friday and the only options where 6:15 and 8:45pm. for your convenience, i've uploaded the newest version of the menu as it doesn't match the one currently on here.

in my opinion the smaller dishes were a lot more interesting compared to the larger dishes.

we ordered the:
gozleme which tasted so good😍 i loved the cheese and beetroot dip (normally i hate beetroot), i was sad that there was only 3.
arepas which were also very tasty.
slow roast chicken had some interesting flavours with the pineapple and peanut. however it wasn't spicy for me.
bbq wagyu tasted nice however some parts were very hard to chew and cut which is a bit disappointing. i've had much better wagyu that melts in your mouth.

great food, terrible service.
not friendly to babies either.
when we asked for a high chair, the waitress said ‘nobody mentioned any high chair on the phone plus we don’t offer any high chairs.’
poker face all time when serving food and answering questions.
really love the food there tho. it’s a shame.
