let down by the food. this perfect location is entirely let down by the poor quality of food.

an interesting sounding menu, but poorly executed. we were not even half way through the entree when our mains arrived (also happened to at least four other tables around us). the seafood was all over cooked and drowned in way too much sauce. i can only hope that the head chef was away that day.

staff were great and the blood orange margarita was fanstastic.

service was excellent. food was just average, so i feel like you’re really paying for the view, and we weren’t seated along the edge where the view is the best. they were pretty kid friendly which was nice.

this is a lovely restaurant with great views and good service. the food was ok. my friend and i had the sea bass which came with mashed potatoes & asparagus. it was all ok, the fish was a little bland. i had to add some salt to wake up the flavor. our husbands had salmon which came with the same mashed potatoes & broccolini. the flavor of their fish was much better but they were both sick all night that evening after dinner. try at your own risk.

found the boathouse on urbanspoon, while on a business trip. loved the location and enjoyed a nice walk on the beach after dinner. food was just ok. service wasn't great. i left something (a low cost, small trinket) i had purchased earlier that day, and they gave me a hard time about mailing it to me. wasn't impressed.

doing highway 1, 101, etc. and came by this place by accident. glad i did. nice stop on a small beach. plenty of easy parking. the outside tables are popular, but the one i managed to grab inside had a perfect view. killer bloody mary, the salmon eggs benedict was super rich, almost too heavy, but was so satisfying. coffee overfloweth.

disappointment. boathouse at hendry's beach has a great location and a nice enough restaurant but the food my partner and i had was both over priced and tasteless. both main dishes were fish (i think) and for appies i had the calamari which was ok but way too salty and he had crab which had obviously been frozen and was extremely watery. the bartenders were apparently very good and capable of keeping up with a crush at the bar and serving staff were ok. all in all not an experience i would like to repeat when there are so many other restaurants to eat out in in santa barbara.

best spicy calamari i've ever had. great fish n chips. nice view. service mediocre but would eat here again.

the wedge salad at the boathouse at hendry's beach was so fresh, so sunny and joyful i felt i had been transported to a commercial for lemon scented shampoo. from the first bite my soul soared, my skin tingled.

just ok. the view is great, the food was good, and the service was a average. could not believe that the pagers were not in working order, found that out by accident, luckily we asked after a very long wait. got a great table because we were overlooked by the hostess with a non working system!
may go back because of the sunset views but that would the main reason.

if i could give it minus stars i would. half my food was inedible. the service was awful. our server was more concerned with the 10 top that would get the big tip, than the 4 two tops that would have netted just as much if he had been doing a better job. my biggest disappointment though was the food. under seasoned, horrid presentation, and vegetables that were really inedible. the place has a great view, but you need more than that to be a success.

i have been here on numerous occasions for breakfast and lunch. the setting and views are just great. food and service great. definitely be returning for future visits.

no matter what the name this is such a great setting. the chance to catch the sunset or the porpoises or have a drink after a beach walk really doesn't require a great restaurant. impressive remodel but the food hasn't improved much and the service is still and miss and ok at best.
