stopped in kind of later in the evening for dinner. she crab soup was good. shrimp and sausage grits were good. nice location close to everything. service was good too. i don't know if it's the best place in town but i would return maybe after i try other places on future visits.

excellent food and service. two of us had the burger and one the chicken club. perfectly done and great sauces. server mark was prompt and friendly. great place to eat.

2 perfect fish entrees. after a week of unseasonably cold weather for savannah, we ventured down to river st to try out boar's head grill and tavern. it has a delightful and warm ambiance with stone and brick walls and wide plank floors.

our server, jeremy, was professional, knowledgeable and friendly and made us right at home. even though it was restaurant week (3 courses for $30), we decided to make our choices from their normal menu. we started with cheesy soft grits with blackened shrimp. then i had their grouper and tim had the flounder special. both entrees were magnificent and perfectly cooked and seasoned. we enjoyed a great bottle of william hill chardonnay and enjoyed our view of the river.

the bar looks like a perfect place for a 12:30pm sunday bloody mary :)

we will be back and are grateful to terri simpson for telling us about this long time favorite savannah spot!

service was not great. the she crab soup was burned and had to be thinned.
the food was over priced.

great service...wonderful ribeye. must have shrimp amnd grits. skip mushrooms unless you want to ward off vampires. recommend!

great meal, historic atmosphere. don't know what happened to those who had a bad experience. maybe we were just lucky since we came in the sweltering september heat and the crowds were down. hardly a soul at lunch on a friday.
we had a pleasant, although somewhat inexperienced waitress. failed to tell us about the specials. another table told us to get the shrimp and grits and it was out of this world. our friends had shrimp and it was done perfectly.
of the dining experiences on river street, this was the best.

best dinner in savannah. staff was friendly and informative, every dish ordered was delicious and devoured! i highly recommend bbq shrimp and the stuffed shrimp. this was my second time in savannah and both times i chose to eat here.

if you're in savannah, make time to eat dinner at boars head. every single thing our party of six ordered was delicious. this place is fine dining at its best. the service was impeccable and the building gives it a great atmosphere. we can't wait to come back!

good food, but slow service on entrees with a light crowd. i would visit again!

boar's head grill & tavern. in town for the holidays with family, my brother suggested boar's head, which i had not eaten in since forever. this place does not change much, and if you want history, this is a good chunk of it. this place has been here as long as i can remember. prices are mostly reasonable, especially for their dinner menu.

start off with the fried green tomatoes or the bbq shrimp – both are great. if you like soups, the she crab is probably the best i have ever eaten. i also like their grilled chicken caesar salad and spinach salad.

for our dinners, my partner loved the double lamb chops. he said they were excellent. get the basmati rice, he says. i ordered the low country shrimp and grits, which i have had before and is one of my favorite dishes. these are most excellent, especially with the cajun spicy butter, which is just right. my brother ordered the fried shrimp, which he said were perfect, as always. he said the baked potato here is one of the best he has ever eaten.

pleasant surprise. tucked around the corner from the rough looking area and rough cobble stone streets of "river street", this restaurant is a great jump back in time. the building appears to be authentically old but yet completely clean. the staff was friendly and quick with service, never letting a drink go dry. we dined on crab cakes, sautéed grouper, duck, and two deserts. wow, every item was cooked perfectly and tasted excellent! highly recommend

horrible. we ate there last night and wish we had not. the service was horrible and our food was worse. i ordered the filet and my husband had the steak and lobster. when our server brought our bread out and it was nasty we should have taken it as a sign. :( after the horrible meal my husband had to get up and go ask someone for our check. the restaurant was practically empty (maybe 10-15 other people total) on a friday night at 8:30 which was more shocking about the horrible service.

dessert? yes!. we stopped by for lunch. my friend ordered the chicken club, and i opted for the blacked fish sandwich. the food was very good, minus the coleslaw. if i had asked for an explanation of the type of coleslaw i would've known not to order it. the chocolate bread pudding is phenomenal! fantastic lunch!

great experience. service was impeccable - friendly, efficient, just superb. food was delicious. atmosphere was great, looking out over the river. boar's head steak sauce is amazing. my steak was cooked perfectly. deserts were yummy! it was well worth getting rained on to get there.

it's hit and miss. good location, good atmosphere, so-so food and so-so service. the shrimp and cheesy grits were very good. the blackened tilapia sandwich not so special, bread seemed a little old, fries were greasy. sandwich came with either fries or coleslaw, but waiter was in a hurry and didn't ask what side we wanted or give us a chance to say anything. wait staff acted disinterested.
