hola! very very very good!. what a deal, and so delicious! hubby and i went there on thursday, and it really could not have been tastier, and what a deal!!! fresh, authentic, filling, delicious, friendly, speedy enough for me!!! rainbow friendly, which is a plus in my books though not my personal issue, but still appreciated. in any event, the chorizo, barracks and pastor were great, and their medium sauce was really good but the avocado sauce was my favourite and sooo ridonculously yummy!!!! don't bug me by being in line ahead of me, okay, because i would run you over for this food!!!!

highly recommended. bmc came highly recommended by a friend who had spend time in mexico and insisted that the taco shells hand-rolled in front of you, their tasty fillings, and range of salsas, made for the best tacos in town, at the best price. really can't go wrong at 3 for $5. you may even have three more...

excelente! the bmc market is very close to becoming a weekly stop of mine. during numerous trips to mexico i've ate at many restaurants where the locals eat but the food at bmc is still some of the best authentic mexican i've ever tasted. the tacos (4 options to choose from) are packed with flavour and are served on corn tortillas that are hand-rolled by the lovely ladies. the chorizo and pork are a must and the fresh pico works well as a side option. great prices, large serving portions and friendly staff make this place a go to!

homemade food, from people who definitely grew up with similar cuisine. i have to imagine that when traveling in mexico, you couldn't taste the difference between that food and what is offered here. plus 3 tacos for 5$? cant beat that! been a few times and probably will go a bunch more!

geat!. we tried this place after reading some of the reviews and weren't disappointed. delicious toppings, you can pick your own sauce and the freshest tortilla shells i've ever had. made right in front of me.

we timed it right so were able to grab a table, but be prepared to take your food to go if you don't. i plan on going back many times.

mixed review. the jury is out on this one, for a number of reasons.

here are the good things about bmc market:

it has a great location in a cute little building on south osborne. you can't miss the bright blue and inviting colours! it is very accessible by bus and car, but be prepared to park on the street.

the warm soft shelled tacos are soooo good. they are perfectly sized to be held in your hand and enthusiastically eaten.

the price is incredibly reasonable! $5.00 for three, yes, three well-stuffed, filling tacos. lunch, including a drink, taxes and a tip was easily under $10.00. where else can you get that kind of excellent taste and value for the money?

bmc market is not a chain. (i am very supportive of that.) everything is made by hand from fresh ingredients. quality is clearly a priority.

the staff is very hard working, and friendly.

the not so impressive things:

it was our first time there, and we weren't sure what to do. nobody greeted us. patrons were standing around. i asked someone, and the menu is written on the left hand wall--not seen when we entered. you place your order at the counter, find yourself a seat, and wait. signage to that effect would have been useful.

the room was warm and humid. there was an air conditioner, but it didn't seem to make much difference.

bmc is very popular, so it took a while at a saturday lunchtime for a table to become available. we were concerned that our food would arrive before that, but we did not have to worry. likewise, because it was busy, it was louder than what we would have preferred.

an initial disappointment was that there were only 3 taco selections. you can mix and match, or have the same variety for your meal. that's a great option. unfortunately, the sole vegetarian selection was unavailable. the suggested alternative was chips and salsa. that was not what i was hoping for, but we did not wish to go anywhere else. happily though, the veggie mushroom taco, made with generous chunks of green pepper, cilantro and cream became a possibility again, so i had that. it was tasty and filling, but messy. the "medium" salsa was runny and could have been hotter. it was barely mild to my taste.

my friend had the barbecue, pastor, chorizo tacos which she enjoyed. neither of us thought we could eat the big servings, but somehow we managed. ;-)

the mango soft drink was delicious!

there are some people who really love this authentic mexican gem. it's nice to see that a local ethnic eatery being so successful. i am glad we tried it out.

authentic and delicious. as some one who has lived in guadalajara mexico and have spent a lot of time at taco stands there, i can definitely say these are the most authentic tacos you will try in this city.

in my opinion, this place is overrated. i have been twice but both times i did takeout. maybe the food is better if you eat in restaurant.

i like that they use corn wraps instead of flour. it makes the experience more authentic. i also think the portions of food are a great value for the price.

however, personally i found the food somewhat bland. it was not favourless but it also wasn't amazing or anything to write home about. mainly i did not appreciate the topping to tortilla ratio (it needed more meat imo).

is it a good restaurant? yes.

is it the best taco place in winnipeg? definately not

went to bmc for the first time today and wow! the quality of the food was incredible as were the price and the service. we split the two can dine special with barbacoa and pastor. the authentic flavour was delicious; no crazy cheese or overly spicy heat, even with the hot salsa. the barbacoa was tender and perfect, and the pastor was sweet and smoky. definitely the best place in town for real mexican tacos!

one of favourite places to eat tacos. handmade corn tortillas with delicious salsas. the pork and beef tacos are personally my favourite but the chicken and chorizo are good as well. staff are friendly, fast service.
