blue star brewing company restaurant & bar

great beer, fish and chips, and chicken salad. skimped a little in the chicken but the beer made up for it :)

burgers and service. this place has great burgers fesh off the grill. great taste and fresh vegetables. fries are also cooked to perfection. best burgers in san antonio for sure. take it from @thejoebarber i approve this restaurant!

looks great but dissapointing food. the hummus tasted like paste. my fish tacos were very bland. they were served with beans that tasted like the were dumped out of a can. sadly, we won't be back here.

stay away. eat at your own risk. brewzilla, had a big party and they knew ahead of time as to not be a surprise to the. kitchen staff. when we ordered our 2 choices (salmon and steak) we were told that we could only have the steaks med but they were not med! !! they were so hard and chewy that i had to stop eating (my jaw locked! !) we had a bus picking us up to take us to the hotel and still not everyone was served. $ 90.00 veggie tray and cold as ice sides finished our meal. refilled our own water glasses and not even asked if we wanted anything else. don't go there! !*

met up with some friends here recently and really enjoyed the old brewery atmosphere. the sangria was really great and the fried mushrooms were some of the biggest i have ever seen or eaten in my life! service was outstanding! would like one back and try more menu items!

great experience. i was hesitant based on previous reviews but they are old and i am solo tonight based on being in town for a conference. seated immediately even with a crowd. great service. great beer. great food.

went with the king william ale. very drinkable but two is plenty. abv 9.0.

dinner was the chips and salsa and then the enchiladas. chips are homemade and nicely salted. salsa was blended and thick. could have a bit more heat kick but was fine otherwise. enchiladas were good too. came with ribboned lettuce, tomatoes, and fresh avocado.

all in all a great dinner - plus jazz started at 8 on tuesday. fun atmosphere. i'd come back.

if we could give more then 5 stars we would. from ct. for work but wanted to visit a local beer place. tried all but the barley wine(there are some things i just won't do) and not dissapointed. our server gina was spectacular, alot of information and even a warning before the last sour beer. good call kid, drank it anyway. food was awesome, nachos, best we have ever had. top to bottom this will be a place we visit again if and when we return. awesome service, awesome food, awesome beer.

failed to meet expectations.. i have visited blue star brewing a number of times when i have been in san antonio on business. as someone that was raised on cask conditioned ale i want to support what blue star are trying to do here in the usa. i do understand that there is a very limited amount of knowledge and experience available and always try hard to lower my expectations accordingly. however it seems that no matter how low my expectations are when i enter the establishment they always seem to find ways to fail to meet them.

tonight the cask offering was a mediocre oatmeal stout served from an angram beer engine that looked as though it had not been cleaned in decades. ( well kept angram engines gleam like burnished gold.) while sampling the stout i became aware that the same was probably true of the beer lines.

i would love dearly to find that some part of the experience had improved since my last visit but sadly the reverse seemed to be true. the food was once blue stars redeeming quality but sadly even that was a disappointment tonight.

i am sure that the folks responsible for the business will never read this unfortunately.

blue star desperately needs a brewmaster and a cellarmaster.

i hope that blue star is a profitable business venture because it had no place in the quest for brewing excellence.

server writes her own tip!!. it's been a month since i've been here but, the service was not good. we were ignored by our server and at the end of the night... the server wrote in her own tip. check your credit card/bank statements please!!

terrible service. very slow
attempted to phone in order but was transferred to a quiet phone without human voice. will not be returning to this establishment

when i went to blue star this past week i had a great time, the food was ok. the atmosphere was off-putting, the whole time while i was dineing near the bar i could hear and see the owner joe harassing a waitress. he repeatly cussed at her and threatened her. i will never go to blue star or any other of his establishment.

sub par. the food was mid level. girlfriend had the chicken fried chicken sandwich. the bread for the sandwich was so crusty it consistently was stabbing the roofs of our mouth. my chicken sandwich was nothing to rave about. service lacked tremendously. think he was a bartender that was trying to be a server. not mindful of his one table, it seemed, at all. of course the beer is good but what once was a good choice for lunch is vastly becoming just a upscale watering hole.

dropped in for a couple of beers. this is a cool place to hang out. cold beer, nice folks, inexpensive. i didn't try the food but what i observed coming out to the tables... it looked and smelled great. everyone seemed to enjoy the food. i'll be back to check it out. neat, safe place in the artsy district. more to follow... enjoy!

awesomeness. food has gotten better and more approachable. way bigger menu with a broader range of options.

great...if you like the smell of barnyard animals.
