great food and service..but pricey.. first of all be advised thisplaceis in a prime tourist area, chances are there will always be a wait. if you can get there near opening or after 2pm. you might catch the lull in there day. make reservations. their food is fresh and tasty. the lobster roll (dressed) is special. everything i saw coming from the kitchen looked great and there were no sad faces in the place. service provided by steffi was excellent. the warm apple crumble with ice cream was also quite special ...we'll be back...

deliciousplaceto grab some seafood by santa monica pier. the oysterette doesn't exactly follow your traditional seafood restaurants but vary diversely in their dishes while keeping some classics. i ordered the lobster bun, a quite popular dish here, that i would thoroughly recommend to any seafood lover.

great place. fantastic seafood, 5 craft beers on tap, open kitchen and ocean breezes make thisplacea nice spot to visit for a drink and some apps. the chowder comes highly recommended.

this is a cool lookingplaceand reminds me of some of my favorite oyster bars in new england. i was excited to see they had fried ipswich clams on their menu, but i was ultimately disappointed with the dish.

onto the food: we hit a gem. i say this because i definitely think its harder to go somewhere and like pretty much everything that is set infront of you. we definitely were too aggressive with the ordering and overestimated our stomach capacity. so on yelp, thisplacehad 3.5 stars 368 reviews. since i quickly glanced at this before dinner, i didnt really think i was going to be blown away by any means. here is was we ordered (i will give my comments at the end):

overpriced, poor service. they definitely know how to cook various seafood items with attn to detail, good taste, and freshness. however, these are offset by the impossibly noisy, overcrowded environment. tables are spaced about 1" apart, so zero privacy. airconditioning ducts blow directly on diners' heads at maximum force, without overcoming the fishy odor. waiters range from very friendly and competent to outrageously disinterested, distracted, and annoyed with the slightest request. but with a cool location on ocean ave, the prices are very high. i tried thisplace4 times before switching back to ocean seafood on the other side of santa monica blvd. much higher quality food and environment at reasonable prices.

i was craving oysters, like i always do... so, i convinced j to grab a quick bite in santa monica. yes, dinner by the beach during this cold weather. so californian, no? even though it was quite cold, theplacewas still full with patrons getting their seafood fix. for drinks, i got a glass of white (i forget what i drank) while j got a chimay. the one glass of white got me pretty buzzed, probably because i was drinking on an empty stomach. i didn't even touch j's beer because chimays always get me drunk. i never knew they were so damn strong... oysters mussels, creamy lemon and garlic sauce ceviche of the day i started off with a half dozen oysters... and yes, i mean "i" and not "we." he doesn't care too much for oysters so more for me! i should've really ordered a dozen, but good thing i didn't because their oyster prices seemed a bit high. nonetheless, the oysters were delicious. i had originally wanted kumamotos, but unfortunately they were out. the server suggested something simil
