great food and service..but pricey.. first of all be advised this place is in a prime tourist area, chances are there will always be a wait. if you can get there near opening or after 2pm. you might catch the lull in there day. make reservations. their food is fresh and tasty. the lobster roll (dressed) is special. everything i saw coming from the kitchen looked great and there were no sad faces in the place. service provided by steffi was excellent. the warm apple crumble with ice cream was also quite special ...we'll be back...

good splurge. this was a splurge, but kind of fun to pop for a $100 tab for appies and beer -- especially when everyone loves it. be seen in the great location, feel envious of the beautiful people at home. we had a couple dozen of the freshest oysters la has to offer and some of the chowder. great flavours, great ingredients, and a great afternoon off the pier.

delicious place to grab some seafood by santa monica pier. the oysterette doesn't exactly follow your traditional seafood restaurants but vary diversely in their dishes while keeping some classics. i ordered the lobster bun, a quite popular dish here, that i would thoroughly recommend to any seafood lover.

i ate inside b/c i'd been out in the sun all day. cool mod decor in the small dining room, w/ unique lighting & seating. had some grilled oysters which were ok, but the clams w/ linguine in a white wine sauce was extraordinary. as was the baguette garlic bread. service was quick. the entrees were reasonably priced, but the fresh shellfish & all the alcoholic offerings, incl the draft beer, were too pricey.

i've been to blue plate a few times and went again yesterday with my kids and another family after a long hot day at the beach. it was a perfect end to a perfect day, fresh oysters, lobster and loads of others items from the deep menu.

the restaurant is small and has a very beach east coast feel (made me feel at home).

go if you haven't been.

sorry no pics it was a family day..

excellent servers, knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. both our fish dishes were very nice. especially the fish tacos that had a superb smoky flavour. great ambience. recommended.

this could be great. we had a lovely dinner at "blue plate" last night. the
oysters and the salmon with bean sauce were absolutely great! the lobster roll was not as special as
some reviews. we also had a feted seafood platter, which was very good. the service was not good. each waiter or waitress was working hard, but there were not enough of them . additionally, we did not have an assigned person. different people took each order and
also delivered the different courses. it was not well organized or adequately staffed. with just a bit of management and investment in the staff, this restaurant could be amoung the best in la!

there were some bright and cheerful flavours going on with the baked clams thanks to garlic, herbs and fresh lemon, but the grit wasn’t agreeing with my teeth so much.

i had yet to try blue plate oysterette so one sunny, sunday afternoon, a friend and i ventured just north of the santa monica pier for some fish and fun. we got lucky and scored a wooden table outside so we could people watch and admire the surf and sand across the street.  if you don't luck into a beautiful warm day, they have blue striped mexican blankets that you can throw on, or you can belly up to the raw bar inside or grab a table under the light colored walls with beautiful beach pictures.  as the name suggests, there's a rotating list of oysters and a fully stocked raw bar, but we decided to go with some cooked seafood so we started with a tender squid that had been given a smoky flavor from the gril

next time i would order the lobster mac & cheese and bouillabaisse particularly of the dishes i tried. i'd order one ceviche since they had the same marinade base (whether you prefer the more traditional peruvian fish or the mixed shellfish version). the a la carte
