a little over priced for breakfest, but still with the typical price range for charlottesville. a little cramped and not much privacy when eating.

when i went in, i had a sedan. when i left, i had a fixed gear, apple laptop, and a smiths t-shirt. this place is so hip, you need an emo tatoo and super tight jeans too really feel the vibe. complete with on-tap root beer and lps in the window, you'll feed your inner tool with 'vintage' memories. totally hip. it's like a slice of portland in the middle of virginia. don't forget to bring a messenger bag to complete the look. (food is prety good).

this is a great spot to grab breakfast or even lunch. the food is fresh and cooked to order and the pricing is very reasonable. i highly recommend blue moon diner if you're hungry.

charlottesville institution since the 1970s. new owners have been operating for nearly 10 years. classic diner style restaurant. breakfast all day. i got the huevos bluemoonos. portion was a bit small for my taste and hashbrowns were undercooked. this is still a good go to for breakfast with good service.

best breakfast in charlottesville! get the french toast for a flavor sensation. the pancakes are also fun; the chef uses a stencil to apply powdered sugar in a variety of fun shapes and portraits.

drinks and water never refilled. something was in my food so my appetite was destroyed. ordered something else. blatantly small portion sizes for the money for myself & friend. really wanted to love this place but food was bland. feel like everyone working there mailed it in. just very disappointing. willing to give it another chance.

this was one of the worst dining experiences i have ever had. we went for sunday brunch.... sat at the counter... took 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. we ordered our drinks and food. and then we waited... and waited... and waited. we had plenty of time to listen to one of the waitresses even complain about other customers. after sitting for about 50 minutes... a couple and another single day down next to us and wouldn't you know within 15 minutes... they were eating their food and after an over an hour and we still didnt have food. finally, after an hour and 15 minutes, we get our food. our kids are starving. they both got pancakes, and one of the order of pancakes wasn't even cooked all the way through. we had to be on the road, so after eating as fast as we could, we headed out and left the waiter a 10% tip. i usually tip at least 20% and more if the service is good. this guy filled my coffee twice the whole time we were there.

do you know that that waiter had the nerve to run out after us and yell down the street where we were walking, " thanks for the bad tip!" are you kidding me? the food was lousy and he left us sitting there for over an hour! he should have checked on our ticket long before that to see what the hold up was! if he wanted to be upset at someone, he should have been fussing at the kitchen staff who didnt prepare our food. and i felt generous for giving a 10% tip. my time is valuable and the fact that the guy that came in 50 minutes after me got his food, ate and paid his tab before our food even came out.... well that was the final blow to determine a decrease in tip. i am sorry, but i believe in earning a tip. and then to run out and yell in the street after us?!?! are you kidding me? this wasnt just one of the worst restaurants i have ever been to. it is the worst. ever.

the trick with the bmd.... ...is to visit off-hours. avoid the weekend mornings. i can tell all the bad reviews here are from weekend mornings, and i really can't blame the reviewers.

funky joints just don't do assembly line well.

having said that, the bmd is my favorite afternoon bar in c'ville, and a solid spot for dinner too. good drinks, good service, good tunes, good vibe, good upscale diner food. and if you want the best service, sit at the counter or nearby. it's a *diner.*

want brunch on the weekends? go somewhere more spacious n' take your time. fellini's has a good bloody mary bar.

great service. a surprising balance of traditional diner favorites and flavor-packed specials. this place attracts a nish's ark of characters, so the people-watching is a plus.

we were told that what we ordered was not available nearly thirty minutes after we ordered. when then the food actually did come it was burnt and generally poorly prepared.
