blue grill - yas island rotana

omg, what an amazing dinner we had! everything from the beginning to the complimentary dessert was simply perfect! the staff and the manager were all super friendly and thesteakwas cooked to perfection! we will definitely come back very soon!!

i can't wait to go back to this restaurant. a friend and i decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner a few weeks ago (with an entertainer coupon, of course), and i have not stopped raving about the food since we left.

as an appetizer, i had the crabcakes. as far as crabcakes go, they were decent but i don't expect much from crabcakes in abu dhabi. my friend had the lobster bisque, which she wasn't in love with but it too was decent.

on to the good stuff...for a main course, we both had the same thing: the reef and beef for 230dhs. worth every penny, or fil. i usually don't order a rib-eye steak, but i think this restaurant may have changed my favorite cut. they served it with a choice of sauce and i chose the red wine sauce. when i say it didn't need a sauce, salt, pepper, or anything else, i mean it. thesteakwas so perfectly seasoned. i fell in love. the shrimp were grilled perfectly, not too tough and overcooked like most restaurants here. and the calamari...i don't know what they season it with but it was awesome. oh, and the whipped cheddar mash as my side, so good! i can't say enough positive things about that main course.

unfortunately, i was too full for dessert but they had one or two options that sounded great. maybe next time...and there will definitely be a next time.

oh yeah, in remembering the food, i forgot about the service. it was good too. no complaints and that's pretty hard to get from me on service. the restaurant's ambiance is also quite nice. i think it would make for a good date night. all in all, a great night out.

we dined at the fine dining option which is blue grill and ordered dinner for 15 people including steaks and other meals. thesteakwas less than average (though expensive) and the place was clearly understaffed, and not ready to cater for an increase in visitors. we waited long for the food, service. complimentary salad bar withsteakwas no refilled, lacked ingredients...not recommended for what it offers.

they first did not have our confirmed reservation through zomato. then they searched in emails and could not find. but thanks they arranged a table finally.
service is very bad. it takes a lot of time to serve food. even when we asked for bill, we had to ask number of staff members to bring it. they have turned down many customers as spaces were full. if they were efficient enough to serve food or at least to present bill when asked, they could have had earned more.
also, rib eyesteaki had was horrible. meat was not fresh, i asked medium well but they made well done instead. mushroom soup was also horrible.

the service is excellent, the ambiance is so classy. and the server (forget his name ) is very energetic, he knows how to deal with the guest properly and he recommend yummysteakso we order it and it was freshly delivered on our table, delicious, super!!yuummm yummmm i will recommend this restaurant in my workmates as well.. definitely worth coming back..

although, i was under the impression that i can use zomato gold here, turns out that’s only for drinks (my bad), and yet i did not leave disappointed. the food is well served, the staff was polite and extremely accommodating and so very detailed when presenting each dish making it an experience. the salts and relishes were introduced one after the other. and thesteakitself was cooked, ❤️ to perfection as i like it medium-rare. all of this didn’t burn a hole in our pockets either. so definitely a must visit.

the atmosphere was great. the service was slow and bad, the waiter said i will bring the menu and he totally forgot about us, even though the place was half busy. i had to get up and go tell them where is the menu. and the food took more than 40 min to prepare. overall slow service and wasted a lot of time being ignored. i had to request the heater 3 times for them to get it.

regarding the food we ordered master kobe and aus wagyu. both were below average and thesteakhad a weird smell in it. i cant recommend this restaurant and i think they should look into their service and improve it.

for asteakrestaurant, i had the best seafood platter i have ever tasted. it included half a lobster, salmon, scallops, king prawns and mussels. all perfectly cooked and served with a lemon beure blanc sauce, which the chef made especially. i didn't fancy any if the 6 or 7 other sauces and he said he would make something special. well, he wasn't wrong. the sauce was mouth watering and a perfect match to the beautiful platter.

i know blue grill offers great steaks, but this really was worth going off-piste for. i will definitely be having it again!

we wanted to celebrate easter but not a fan of brunches and big buffets, so we decided to go for a steakhouse since it has been a while we didn’t eat meat. we haven’t visited blue grill for nearly a year, we were impressed with the menu as it changed and thesteakwas amazing, perfectly cooked. the service was amazing, staff were very attentive and the ambiance was really great and quiet, eventhough there were kids dining there, but you wouldn’t even realize that if you are not looking around. we will definitely visit again soon.

been here twice now.... with memorable experiences! food here has been exceptionally good. probably one of the best places for goodsteakin the city! with great starters such as crab cakes and complementary sauces to the meats, this place has it all. exceptional service. also good place for date night!

the atmosphere could only be described as bleak and drawn out. the staff were kind, but sluggish with the food taking at least half an hour to be served. me and my partner had the aus wagyu and the tomahawk steak. i will admit the meal was very aesthetically pleasing but the flavor could only be rated below average; the tomahawksteakhad no flavor and came raw (even though medium was ordered). additionally, the wagyu was a very small portion, very tough but definitely a mediumsteakand absolutely inedible for this price point; when complaints were given they took, as expected, an hour to respond only to cook thesteakslightly more. i am disappointed with the flavor, atmosphere and the response time in the blue grill - with an astounding 730dhs bill. i will, however, commend their excellent batter that is served as 2 fried potato pieces and an onion ring with each dish, absolutely excellent. yet, i will definitely not be a returning customer and i will recommend this to my ultimate nemesis for a waste of money and a destruction of sensory tastebuds.

we sat outdoors. the weather was good. as well as the ambience.

the staff was very helpful. he suggested the crispy calamari for starters and it was really really good.

but if mentioned there was complimentary bread we wouldn't have ordered starters.

we ordered the lamb chops and australian tenderloin 300g for main course

the lamb chops were good but so disappointing to see such less quantity. (definitely not satisfying)

thesteakwas alright. the parmesan baked potato was nice.

it was a birthday celebration so i had asked the waiter to get us a cake with happy bday to be written on it and they did a fantastic job and gave us a complimentary cheese cake. the cake was really good.

the price for everything was way too much which it really wasn't worth it.

they need to work on their sauces!!!

nothing beats good old steak, especially when you are famished, which i was when i arrived at blue grill.the restaurant is located in the yas island rotana hotel ( , it is open from 6pm until 11:30pm. there are soft jazzy notes playing in the background as you enter, this place has an air of elegance and sophistication-not so common insteakhouses.

this wasn't our first trip to blue grill, but it was potentially the best trip so far. the restaurant was quite busy for a wednesday night, but the atmosphere was still quite enjoyable. we got a nice table by the window and settled in for a meat heavy meal.
the menu is fairly simple and everything you would except out of a steakhouse. we decided on the scallops for a starter and then a 600 g porterhouse and a wagyu fillet. all of the offerings were very good and both steaks were cooked perfect. i tend to like mysteakblue (ultra rare) and to my delight it was not over cooked at all.
i'd say the service was excellent, and my only complaint was potentially a lack of choices for sides.....other than that it was a great meal and we will return soon.
