fine food and family fun. rooney's irish pub is the best in the central coast. the prices are fair and affordable, great atmosphere and the best micro-brews ever. now they have live music on sundays and offer a great value to an already fabulous level of service.

i strongly recommend this restaurant!

they listened to my last comments and took it to heart. my compliments to the owner!. i was a little apprehensive when friends wanted to take me to rooney's. it was last night, saturday july 26, 2014, 6pm. we were seated right away. i went to restroom to wash and found the bathroom sparkling clean. i returned and was asked for my drink order, so i ordered a pint of guinness. it was brought to me within 2 minutes. our server then took the food order. i asked specific questions regarding the prep, ingredients, and flavor of the bangers and mashed vs: shepherds pie, never having either of these here before. she told me what each contained, and since their pie was made with beef, not lamb (shepherds don't tend cows, they tend sheep), i opted for the bangers and mashed. her description of the meal just made my mouth water with excitement. after everyone else ordered i placed mine, so with all the orders in we were surprised to see within 15 minutes all the food arrive. one friend had a club sandwich, another a salad, my wife had the fish and chips, and i the bangers and mashed. we were all impressed. everything was served hot, obviously not microwaved, and absolutely delicious. i totally loved my bangers and mashed and highly recommend it. everyone else at the table really enjoyed their food too. my wife said the fish was better than her favorite english fish and chips place served. bravo for rooney's, they listened to my last comments and took it to heart. servers were well trained and knowledgeable, the food was prepared fast and properly, and absolutely delicious. my compliments to the owner!

food just ok, servers seriously lack training.. when first arriving the hostess seated us in a booth with torn aged vinyl, then brought a glass of water, but it had ice and a straw in it. the straw was immersed in the water, so very unsanitary. i told her i did not want water with ice or a straw, so she returned with water with a straw, no ice. it was obvious she did not listen to my request.
the bartender came and asked if i would like something to drink, so orcered a guinness on tap. a server then came and again asked for the drink order, and had to tell her the order was already placed.
a different server came to get the order, and i ordered a bruben (this is a hot reuben sandwich with a hamburger patty, corned beef, swiss cheese, russian dressing, and sauerkraut on a burger bun), and she asked how i wanted the burger so i said medium rare. she repeated medium, and i had to correct her with medium rare, not medium. the others at the table added their orders and she left.
food arrived within 15 minutes, but a guy brought it out, not our server. taking a bite i quickly noted the burger was well done, so it took another 10 minutes to get our servers attention. when she came over i told her the meat was well done and she immediately blamed the cook saying she told him i wanted medium rare. she took the plate back, and in less than 10 minutes returned with a new bruben. it was cooked medium rare, but had absolutely no seasoning, and the bun was sogging wet with meat juices. i was very disappointed but just ate half and took the other half home. i knew i could add seasoning and replace the bun, so i did when i got home.
when the server returned with the check she just picked up my glass, never asking if i wanted another guinnes.
this place needs the cook trained to prepare food according to how the guest wants it, the food needs proper seasoning, and the meat should be allowed resting time so as not to ruin the bun. the servers need to be trained properly, not serving water with a straw in (unacceptable), listen to orders, not throw the cook or anyone else under the bus (we don't need to know whose fault it is, very unprofessional), and the servers should be the ones bringing out the meals. they also need to check to see if the meal was prepared to satisfaction, not having to be flagged down. i tip 20% but should have withheld my tip oin this case.
i will probably return and give them another chance, hopefully they will read this and improve. we'll see.

a good time was had by all in orcutt, california. five of us had dinner at rooney's "irish" pub. it looks sort of like an irish pub; but, since it is fairly new, it lacks the patina of the real thing. our server was good. my rueben was ok. the fries were ok. if you are longing for an irish pub, this is not the place you are wishing for.

it's ok. pretty price for pub food, atmosphere is great, but service is slow. don't expect a romantic evening, as this is a pub, and is loud and has a bunch of tvs with sports on.

i ordered the shepard's pie, which while tasty, was a deconstructed version of the real thing. my husband's fish and chips was pretty good, a good 3 piece serving. the homemade potato chips and dip were good.

had another great dinner at rooney's last night. i am a chicken aficionado and i can always rely on the consitancy of the beer brined roasted chicken. it is fabulous. my son called it "chicken bacon" the meat is juicy and flavorful but with crispy skin. unbelievable. i can't ever order anything else! luckily my husband likes the ruben sandwich and its great too. i am sitting at work today having the leftovers and just have to say, its still delicious! thanks rooney's keep up the great work.

unfortunetly the nicest place in orcutt. ate there tonight. took them over an hour to make a pastrami sandwhich on a slow tuesday evening. . the service is bad, food is mediocre. the success of this restaurant is based on good decor and nice looking waitresses.

not feeling this place at all. worst service i have ever experienced. basicly we were ignored by staff. i can't even comment on the food because we couldn't get served not even water. on top of that the majority of the people in the bar were old, it's definately not a place i would recomend to anyone under 30.

awesome place. rooney's is soooo good, the food, the service, the decor, everything is outstanding!! i love the look of the place with it's dark wood and authentic pub memorabillia. the food is really good and there are some unique items on the menu. the staff is friendly and very attentive. what a welcome respite to the rest of the restaurants in this area.

rooney's irish pub. wonderful menu, service and delicious food that is impeccably presented. also enjoyed the beautiful woodwork and leaded glass everywhere. a little noisy...ask to sit in the back room if you want a quieter ambiance. chef anthony endy is definitely passionate about his work!

great "pub?" food. recommended by a friend, and i was amazed! this restaurant has the feel of a nice steak restaurant/sports bar, and the service was quick and pleasant. the food was outstanding, but not exactly traditional irish pub style. i had "the lost" sheppard's pie, and it was a pile of mashed potatoes, vegetables, and a slab of tender pot roast served on top. the flavor was excellent. my wife had the ruben sandwich, and raved about it all day. she said it was more like a huge corned beef sandwich from new york than a typical ruben. the "german chocolate cake" left a little to be desired... as it was basically dark chocolate cake with german chocolate icing. great selection of beverages... even imported belhaven scottish ale in bottles and guinness on tap! the prices were comparable to a steak restaurant instead of a pub, but for the quality of the food in a small town on the central coast, it was appropriate. three entree's, two beers, one glass of wine, and one dessert ran about $75 with tip. the pinot grigio wine they suggested for my wife was a bit pricey at $7.25 for a half a glass... but the beers were competitive at $2.75 - $6.00. all in all, a really nice place, and it will be one of my regular stops.

loved the entire experience!. just tried this place for the first time today and absolutely loved it! the family owned business has done it right and they have created a warm and friendly environment with great staff. all of their food is housemade- which is a big plus for this area. from the chips to the ketchup, it's all made from scratch! they have great options and i wanted to order one of everything! i can't wait to go back!
