great cafe. brought my family to mornington and stopped in for lunch. the steak sandwich was huge but also tasty, good quality and steak cooked to perfection. the lamb burger was also yum. the cakes are amazing and the service is excellent!

apart from the fact that we waited over 40 minutes for our breakfast, as well as another 20 for one of my friends orders which was delayed, and half the orders came out wrong... the food was average and the set out was fair. hopefully this was a one off occurrence due to it being new year's day.

one of my go-to cafes in mornington for brunch. everytime i go with my partner, we go for the beef burek and steak sandwich. both dishes are the definition of perfection! their breakfast menu perhaps needs a little more work but if you like simple, then it might be for you. the staff are attentive and on a nice sunny day, it's lovely to be outside in front of the cafe. coffee is good too!

stumbled across this place on the way to work today. had the eggs florentine with salmon and gluten free toast which was really well made. quite a few other gluten free options on the menu to choose from which was nice. coffee was a bit of a let down though, far too much froth for my liking and no distinct flavour.
the general atmosphere of the place was very relaxed and had a nice local feel. although possibly too quite for my liking as the music was barely audible. and the layout was a bit basic and uninspiring. however this was made up for by great customer service from the staff.
overall worth the visit but nothing too extraordinary

staff are really welcoming here. great vibe and cosy ambience. was craving scones and got them - hot, fresh, homemade with their jam and cream. we also had the french toast, bananas, maple syrup and bacon. lots of classics on the menu. the coffee was great and hot choc amazing. on the side, a little piece of homemade banana cake. a nice find at the corner section of the street.

best coffee and homemade cakes ever!! the staff are extremely friendly and are always very accommodating with my toddler. would highly recommend!!

went to blackbird cafe for brunch - delicious. very helpful and friendly staff - the young man who served us was cheerful, and when my mum said she wasn't very hungry, he suggested smaller items (cakes, apple crumble). she had the homemade apple, rhubarb and strawberry crumble, which was apparently delicious, my brother had wedges (hard to go wrong there, but there was plenty of sauce), and i had baked eggs. great food, and reasonable pricing. will be going back.

we called by for breakfast on a very busy sunday morning. the staff coped very well with the pressure of full tables and at times, a queue. we were advised up front that our meals would take some time to come out and we appreciated the communication.
in saying that, we did not wait as long as we had anticipated and we found our serves to be generous and freshly prepared. loved the added touches of blankets to warm the laps and legs dining outside!

service was good, slow just because it was a public holiday, food is very reasonably priced with the amount you get. very filling and would go again. chai latte was absolutely delicious 👌🏻

extensive menu with almost too many great choices to choose from! we had the florentine, big breakfat, lamb burger and quinoa salad with lattes to finish. everything was cooked beautifully and was served quickly. the cafe itself is relatively small however there is ample outdoor seating, all staff were very efficient which was good as the place was packed on a public holiday. 
only criticism was that the big breakfast while very big only contained one very small tomato which i consider a vital part of a breakfast. this however was balanced by the perfectly toasted thick slices of sourdough and the well cooked bacon.

i have to say we wait almost for 30 mins for a cup of water and another 30 mins for our order . but it was a holiday season & peak hour . they serves really yum ricotta pancake and so does other dishes. no wonder it's always crowed.

having been here for brekkie a few times before, i knew what to expect.
i come here for the french toast breakfast - plenty of bacon (not too crispy) with 2 thick cut slices, banana, and plenty of maple syrup.  my only criticism - not enough banana ( i could tell straight away that it was going to fail the complete mouthful of everything ratio test)!  still, it was very nice.
so you might wonder why the 3.5 - the staff were friendly enough but could have been friendlier, and the position of the cafe isn't great being on a side road with views of a brick wall.  still, if a good french toast is your thing, you won't go far wrong here.

cute and cosy. great service.tasty coffee 4/5! ask for hot and you get hot. had the moroccan chicken bake with chickpeas and apricot. very hearty, warm and filling. would come here again!

huge breakfast. looking around mornington this morning for a place to eat and stopped at blackbird. great staff, friendly atmosphere. ordered a big breakfast and could not finish it.

blackbird bliss. we regularly visit the blackbird, never disappointed the food is great, reasonably priced and tasty. the staff are pleasant and remember your name. their christmas party is awesome thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to feed so many people with such lovely fare. i love the menu the chicken salad is devine and the prawn with mango so moorish. in all a pleasant way to while away a lovely summers day in mornington. we often go for lunch, then walk around the wednesday market and go back for the amazing rhubarb and strawberry crumble for afternoon tea. would highly recommend this place to anyone, and often do
