bistro aix..getting a little pricey. returned for the 6th or 7th time on saturday. food and service was as good as ever. but, it is starting to get very pricey. if they still have the price fixe meal during the week, i suggest that's the best deal for your money.

still as good as ever. this was our third time to bistro aix..the last being nearly two years ago. it's a bit of a ride for us so we just don't get the opportunity. and, it is indeed a wonderful opportunity, nothing has changed..this is still a wonderful restaurant.
in this part of florida, we think it's the closest you are going to come to dining at a goodplaceon las olas boulevard in ft. lauderdale or in coconut grove in miami or even at a niceplacein san francisco. that's our take on bistro aix. jacksonville is very lucky to have this restaurant!
we came with friends for a special ocassion; their anniversary. we'd told them about thisplaceand they've always wanted to try it. so, we made the drive on a thursday night and arrived around 6:30 pm. we did not have a reservation.
i told our friends to expect to see well dressed young professionals at the bar and some older people in the mix as well. and that's exactly what we found. it was really nice to see the crowd. thisplacehas a wonderful following. they were their because this is a really neat place...and it was happy hour, of course.
the restaurant was only about one third ful at the time. we had our choice of dining areas and oru friends chose the far noiser back bar area. so there's your first decison. the restaurant is noisy, but the back room is noiser. that's all part of the experience though. they loved eating in the bar area. i prefer the main dining room where i can watch the kitchen at work.
we were immediately addressed by a wonderful waitress with a genuine smile on her face...jessica. water was quickly brought to the table, our drink orders taken and their great bread and butter delivered.
she would return at the proper time to tell us about the specials and answered several questions for us. her timing thoughout the meal was absolutely perfect. water glasses always filled, just a few inquiries if we were please, etc. she was well trained.
it was happy hour and their price for a house chardonnay was $3.50, which was terrific in this setting with this type of service. very, very fair. good pour.
we chose their price fixe $29.00 meal offer that is only available monday thru thursday. it maybe only for the summer? it was a terrific value since most entrees alone are in the $20 range.
you get a half sized salad, which is more than enough, a full sized entree (lots of choices right off the regular menu entree selections) and a full sized dessert that is also right off the regular menu. they are not playing any games here.
everyone at the table got something different. everyone's food was wonderful. we forgot to take our boxed leftovers and jessica literally came out of the restaurant to find us before we drove away. pretty impressive stuff.
we left around 8:30 and theplacewas packed. obviously there are a heck of a lot of people in jacksonville with good taste when it comes to dining out. thisplaceis still a winner! hasn't skipped a beat as far as we're concerned.
go here!
