i went here with my boyfriend on our 2-year anniversary, and thisplaceknocked us out of our socks! we started with escargot, brie, and ceviche, and then had lamb and grouper for our entrees. the fish had large, white, meaty flakes, it was tender, flavorful, and the skin was crisp and delicious! i normally do not order fish, but this was the best fish i ever had! my boyfriend said the same about his lamb! our server, robert, was very pleasant, friendly, and took very good care of us. his service was top-notch. i can't wait to dine here again!

went on a date at bistro aix last friday and had a really great experience all around. it was a last minute restaurant choice and normally that is hard to pull off at a popularplaceon a friday, but there were open tables and seats at the bar in the lounge. fine we us. the bartenders were friendly, very knowledgeable, and had delicious recommendations. the pork choucroute is my new favorite! it has tender pork shoulder, housemade sausage, potato dumplings, and julianned apples and whole gain mustard which add a tartness to the savory meatiness. try it! i will definitely go back soon.

pasta glue. today i went to bistro aix. usually a pretty decentplaceyet today half of the shrimp tagliatelle's pasta was stuck together so badly it was like glue. the shrimp was hard but not inedible. when i mentioned this to the waiter he took it back but never returned with an apology. not that i needed one but an acknowledgement would have been nice. once he came with the bill i remarked at my surprise that the chef had not said anything and his response was that the pasta maker was scolded. this negligence worries me for several reasons: 1: the chef has lost touch, two there was no effort to make at least the cheapest item in our meal complimentary. lastly, aix is becoming a restaurant i just stop going to. jacksonville has so few good restaurants. like bb's and many others. and the chef's are just so unaware of how to cook even seafood, a staple of florida. this is mind blowing.

.....bistro aix offers an excitement and energy that truly is unmatched. the exposed brick walls of the restaurant’s interior create a coziness that contrasts sharply with the buzz bursting from the always packed dining room and open kitchen. it’s the sort ofplaceyou’d want to take clients for a great night out and also the kind of spot that would be at the top of our list ofplaceto impress a date. not all that hungry? an amazing bar area complete with couches to cozy up on awaits just across the main dining room. from the classic and wonderfully simple french dish steak frittes to the foodie fav bone marrow, bistro aix offers high end options everyone can enjoy. bistro aix – cheese plate bistro aix recently experienced a change in executive chefs and a change in ownership over the past year or so. sometimes a change like this can be detrimental. in this case it’s reinvigorated a restaurant that has long been a leader in high end dining. with this change their menu has seen some great new additions while keeping old favorites. just this month bistro aix also kicked off their new raw bar with options from oysters to high end caviar for the raw food connoisseur. we kicked things off with 6 raw oysters($16) from the bistro aix’s new raw bar. these were served with mignonette, tomato-horseradish “pearls”, and fresh lemon. the two oysters on offer were the blue point long island and james island virginia varieties. the blue point were quite large with a fairly mild flavor. the james island oysters had a much fuller flavor which we particularly enjoyed. the mignonette(a sauce typically made with minced shallots, cracked pepper and vinegar) was a nice option as opposed to the cocktail sauce and horseradish often served with raw oysters. bistro ai

always good food. had the handrolled gnocchi w/shrimp - yummy tiny seasoned tomatoes and sweet corn, no gummy sauce. really flavorful. had french press coffee after, and it tasted like silk. thisplaceis noisy and the portions are small , but it is a nice break from traditional restaurants where they load up your plate with food enough for two! at least this food is always a joy to taste. server was attentive also.

really like thisplacebut the last two times were disappointing the bar tender is smacking gum like a cheap hocker on 8 th ave. on the second visit we informed the mod of the issue and i believe that she was clueless about health code rules and regulations about chewing gum while on the floor of a food establishment. will give it another try but will walk out the door if the bartender is chomping away!

in summation, i love bistro aix and can’t wait to go back. the interior is moody, sophisticated and clean. the furniture gives it a medieval kind of feel, and i dig that. it’s definitely a niceplaceto go for a special occasion. they have half-price drink specials until 7pm, and a ton of delicious things to try. kudos!

goodplace(probably second best in the entirety of duval county - see orsay)! food is always enjoyable, menu is varied, service is pleasant, and the bar has a great selection. well dressed crowd and reasonable decibel levels make it an appropriate venue for a romantic night out or a business meet up. highly recommended!

thisplacewas perfect for date nite. it was pretty empty for 9pm on a saturday nite but me and the fiancee were so glad we came. the decor looks really nice...but in the back is really chic! we sat near the onyx bar...which happens to be my fiancee name (she received a free glass of wine lol). she ordered a mango martini which she absolutely enjoyed, for apps i had the truffle french fries, amazing!! she had the tomato and goat cheese confit, not a fan of gc but the fiacee enjoyed every bit (even used the table bread to finish it off lol)! for our entrees we shared the tomato and basil pizza...not the best but very tasty! dessert was all for her as she ordered the banana foster, it was very warm and she said caramel was exquisite! all in all...a really greatplacefor a date, if you don't mind the noise level which got loud because of the large party we dined next to you! we will definitely be going back in the near future!

bistro aix..getting a little pricey. returned for the 6th or 7th time on saturday. food and service was as good as ever. but, it is starting to get very pricey. if they still have the price fixe meal during the week, i suggest that's the best deal for your money.

still as good as ever. this was our third time to bistro aix..the last being nearly two years ago. it's a bit of a ride for us so we just don't get the opportunity. and, it is indeed a wonderful opportunity, nothing has changed..this is still a wonderful restaurant.

in this part of florida, we think it's the closest you are going to come to dining at a goodplaceon las olas boulevard in ft. lauderdale or in coconut grove in miami or even at a niceplacein san francisco. that's our take on bistro aix. jacksonville is very lucky to have this restaurant!

we came with friends for a special ocassion; their anniversary. we'd told them about thisplaceand they've always wanted to try it. so, we made the drive on a thursday night and arrived around 6:30 pm. we did not have a reservation.

i told our friends to expect to see well dressed young professionals at the bar and some older people in the mix as well. and that's exactly what we found. it was really nice to see the crowd. thisplacehas a wonderful following. they were their because this is a really neat place...and it was happy hour, of course.

the restaurant was only about one third ful at the time. we had our choice of dining areas and oru friends chose the far noiser back bar area. so there's your first decison. the restaurant is noisy, but the back room is noiser. that's all part of the experience though. they loved eating in the bar area. i prefer the main dining room where i can watch the kitchen at work.

we were immediately addressed by a wonderful waitress with a genuine smile on her face...jessica. water was quickly brought to the table, our drink orders taken and their great bread and butter delivered.

she would return at the proper time to tell us about the specials and answered several questions for us. her timing thoughout the meal was absolutely perfect. water glasses always filled, just a few inquiries if we were please, etc. she was well trained.

it was happy hour and their price for a house chardonnay was $3.50, which was terrific in this setting with this type of service. very, very fair. good pour.

we chose their price fixe $29.00 meal offer that is only available monday thru thursday. it maybe only for the summer? it was a terrific value since most entrees alone are in the $20 range.

you get a half sized salad, which is more than enough, a full sized entree (lots of choices right off the regular menu entree selections) and a full sized dessert that is also right off the regular menu. they are not playing any games here.

everyone at the table got something different. everyone's food was wonderful. we forgot to take our boxed leftovers and jessica literally came out of the restaurant to find us before we drove away. pretty impressive stuff.

we left around 8:30 and theplacewas packed. obviously there are a heck of a lot of people in jacksonville with good taste when it comes to dining out. thisplaceis still a winner! hasn't skipped a beat as far as we're concerned.

go here!

you'll think you are dining in sf. greatplacewith wonderful casual atmosphere that you'd be more likely to see in san francisco.
