ended up here and it was a disappointment. our server was not busy but took forever to get things and didn't know the menu. i order the carne asada sole. it was edible but poor quality and really lacking in flavor. the house salsa appeared to be pace salsa with red onions. cheese sauce was also lacking. my fiancé ordered the tacos with "pork skin" and cabbage. he barely touched it and gotfoodelsewhere. this was unfried pig skin that was like nothing we had ever seen. it's not a good sign when it takes five minutes of discussion to tell you what it is. it was a jiggling heap of spiraled
fleshiness.the tacos we were filled with a tablespoon of potatoes. i'm surprised by so many good reviews. i love pasole, but we won't be going back.

this place was awful when my boyfriend and i went. i'm honestly not sure how this restaurant got so many good reviews. the waiter was nice but thefoodwas terrible. it tasted old and like chemicals. i got the chilis rellenos and it was disgusting. the bread was soggy and the pepper was mush in my mouth. i will not be going back there.

after reading an article published in the "edible okc" magazine, our office decided to try this place for lunch.  this place was excellent!  thefoodis authentic mexican, which is a nice change from tex mex.  we all had different entrees, and everyone said their meal was delicious! there was not one complaint about anything we ate.  we will definitely be back!  so glad we found this place!

great mexicanfoodserved here!!!!. me and my wife love this place. we come here frequently and enjoy the food. my wife loves the tortas de juevo, i love everything else. we have tried everything on the menu. this is authentic mexican food, not tex-mex. you won't find fajitas or chimichanga's here. well at least, i didn't.

well, today, we finally made it.

amazingly large portions of home-cooked food!

we had ceviche de pescado, fried nopales (cactus shoots), and lamb birria -- a virtual feast for just under twenty bucks for two people.

love, love, love this place!

¡muy delicioso!. hot, fresh and authentic birria. (if you haven't tried this jalsciense specialty, you really should.)

wide selection of condiments and toppings, and very reasonable prices.

only downside(s)? well, a) it's in bethany (yikes!) and b) the corner location makes it difficult to park, particularly if you're on your lunch hour.

i'm so happy that we finally have a birrieria in the metro area, and that it's an exceptionally fine one, at that!

best authentic mexican i've had in okc. my husband and i have made birrieria diaz our favorite place for mexican food. the variety of meats offered have all been outstanding. the variety of salsas and sides that come with the different entrees is like taking a fantasticfoodadventure. my favorite is the posole verde. it is a huge bowl and even more delicious when the leftovers are heated up the next day.
the atmosphere is clean and simple and the staff extremely friendly. we have been so often we are greeted as friends when we walk in.
this is not typical tex-mex nor is it a fancy chain. birrieria diaz is simply really, really good food.

¡qué rico!. i was raised on authentic mexicanfoodand this place is legit. i ordered the posole verde. it was just as good as my aunt's posole who lives in mexico city. i did add some lime to my posole. i love lime on most of my mexican food. i also had a ceviche tostada. ¡delicioso! i will go again.

this place is pretty good, 3 stars, average. for the price, you get a good amount offoodand while it's not like a meal from a bigger restaurant, it still tastes good. pros: friendly staff, prices, average food. cons: no sides (yep, no rice and beans here!), no more tortillas (apparently they stopped making them), average food. while i wouldn't tell anyone to rush over to this place, if youre in the area and need something to eat, it's a fine place to stop in.

eaten here twice, and both times watched the "chef" cook or meals in a microwave. no lie. i have a feeling lot of these sparkling reviews are for another place about a mile away with a similar name that has awesomefoodand service. this place is utter garbage and an embarrassment to the community. nasty microwavedfoodfrom the freezer.

really great little place.. i actually went to this place based on reviews from urbanspoon, and i was not at all disappointed. it's a simple little restaurant located practically in walking distance from my old highschool. i wish it had been around a decade ago. i would have had a great little place to add to my regular lunch list.

to get right down to business, i wanted to get a taste of a few things they had to offer. so i ordered a couple tacos, sopes, and tamales. this comes with chips and queso (add a little salt), great salsa, along with cups of lime, radishes, green and red chile sauce. i went on a saturday evening and it was about half full, thefoodarrived quickly, and everything was well cooked and extremely tasty. the amount of sides you're given really lets you experiment with flavors, and it's much more authentic than any tex-mex place you're going to come across. for example, the tacos are small-ish soft corn tortillas with chopped beef, lettuce, onion, cilantro.. and i added a healthy squeeze of lime with chile sauce, and it was delicious. the sopes had beef-head (also delicious, though there are multiple meat choices if you can't handle the idea of that. chicken, etc.) and the tamales, pork with red sauce.

beyond the good food, i have to mention 2 things. firstly, the price is very reasonable. the tacos run i think 1.60 a piece, and 3-4 of them could easily make a large meal, especially considering the chips. even still my grand total came to 18 dollars, and i felt the 5 dollar tip was deserved, especially considering my second point.

the service in this place is really just amazing, as others have mentioned, this is a family owned business that is friendly and eager to help out. my server reassured my mother all spicy things came on the side, and helped to explain anything she didn't know, or help pronounce anything we hadn't heard of. beyond that, he suggested ways to mix the ingredients, and he was very correct. attentive, friendly, and non intrusive. the kind of service you can only get from a person who actually cares, and that means a lot.

i felt like i really cheated on my diet, but that is beside the point. here in okc there are only so many options for good mexican food, and most are either overpriced or inauthentic. this is in my opinion a small and humble place.. but it is honest, reasonable, friendly, and will not disappoint.

our new favorite mexican restaurant!. all i can say is, wow. this place has the best homestyle mexicanfoodin okc, hands down. the beef they use in the tacos is tender, juicy, and amazingly lean. no grease or fatty juices. i had the enchiladas and was blown away; they were so incredibly fresh and delicious. they also served these crazy good reddish-seared potatoes. i have no idea what spices they used but it was super yummy!

the service is excellent and the waitstaff is very nice. there is plenty of parking behind the restaurant which is awesome.

we've never been to such an authentic, family-run mexican place...we will be going back again and again!

the people were nice, but thefoodwas terrible!! we had the flautas, which tasted like they came from a frozen box, the meat inside had zero flavor, it was overall very bland. we also had the tacos diaz...we weren't sure the steak was really steak and the bacon was really bacon. however, the kids' chicken nuggets got good reviews. overall, we would not recommend this place, even if it is cheap.

viva!. we love birrieria diaz! we eat there at least twice a week. the pork tamales are the best. they're huge and filled with lean meat. the flavor of these tamales is excellent. the posole is also good. a little spicey and lots of lean meat. my husband always gets the beef birrieria, but lately has had to take it home since he usually fills up on the beef tacos. you've got to ask for a side of their rice and beans....so good!! birrieria is a family-owned restaurant. the father's name is juan and the last time we ate there, he brought out a couple of small dishes he made for us to try. one was an spicey egg dish and the other was a bowl of boracho beans. seriously good. can't wait to go back to see what else juan will have.

p.s. thefoodfrom birrieria is more authentic than what most people are accustom to. this is not a typical tex-mex restaurant. it's always good to try something new....you might be surprised.

i had the sheep birria, and my children each had tacos, 2 tacos de lengua and 2 asada tacos. the birria was good, if not just a little bland. just needed some salt. the condiments that are provided for the birria are great except the red onion and habanero mix that i got looked a bit old. i've worked in thefoodbiz and i could recognize these were old onions. i love hot food, but i passed on those.
the tacos de lengua were good, as were the asada tacos.
i got 6 tamales to go and they were very big and pretty darn good.
salsa was okay. service spectacular. clean restaurant.
