i think it's difficult to avoid "brunch" when you're off for a weekend trip with your significant other in a place that happens to have a few good places that do brunch. granted, we didn't go during a normal brunch hour (we actually went pretty early in the morning) but the restaurant supposedly has a good brunch and dang good breakfast too. with their food being made from scratch, bill's cafe is a small "chain" in the sense that there are four of them in the sj area but local since they stay in the community. they open early and close early. we had wanted to go to this one because it's the original. it was also nice that monday through friday you can get half a benny (benedict) and other items discounted in the early morning hours. we met some fun, smiling people outside of the restaurant, and upon entering, we saw old-school decor w

the french toast is better this time around than when i had it at the other location – mainly because we asked for the syrup on the side. it was swimming in the syrup making it overly sweet before, but this time around we were able to adjust the amount of syrup. the french toast was quite heavy, with generous amounts of walnuts that tasted like it was baked into the bread and dense with a moist centre. it had subtle cinnamon flavours and was very buttery.

good food - long wait. call and put name on wait list or expect 45min+ for a table. the mimosas are delicious!! after you buy two ask about the free tequila shot. i would eat there again but will never wait in that line again!

great brunch. at the suggestion of a wise man a group of us chose bill's for brunch on several occasions.
warning: there will be a wait. yes it is worth it.
i had the chilaquiles with hashbrowns the first go round - eggs were a little dry but the dish was overall delicious. the fresh squeezed orange juice mimosa with orange slices and strawberries is well worth it.
second go round i tried the mexicali benedict - outstanding. toasted english muffin, avocado, pulled pork, poached egg and fresh salsa. if you go once and this sounds good, order it. one person ordered the french toast parisienne (french toast croissant) and they said it was to die for.
eat at bill's
