nothing is more american than baseball. and nothing pairs better with baseball than a hot dog. so naturally, after screaming our heads off during an 11 run inning at the rockies game, we needed to refuel with a hot dog. we headed just down the street from the field to bikerjim'sgourmet dogs , a semi fast food restaurant serving up anything but your standard hot dog. we are talking elk, pheasant, boar, and even rattlesnake dogs, split down the middle and charred on a gas grill. you can get them plain, topped withjim'sstandard topping (cream cheese and coke soaked onions), or topped with one of his other concoctions. although it was nearly ten o'clock and the game was still in full swing, the place was packed, line out the door and all. it obviously draws a crowd. even though we were hard pressed to find a table, and the blistering wind outside kept us from the patio, that did not stop us from quenching our craving. i stuck with my favorite - the elk jalapeno cheddar dog - which was,
