big jim's restaurant & bar

i've been to big jim's many times and it never disappoints. you can either eat in the bar area, or the side room. i've seen families with kids, so that's no problem. to be clear, this is a unfancy bar that sells great food. they have a pretty big menu with bar type finger foods, sandwiches, soups and full entrees. theportionsare large and the prices extremely fair. everything i've had is good. on my latest visit i had the two bill sandwich - i've had it before and it's always good. grilled marble rye with corned beef, swiss, coleslaw and a fried egg in between. it's a great sandwich. also had good old fashioned breaded mushrooms and homemade weddings ng soup. this place is a sure bet for casual food and a beer. totally recommend.

theportionsseem to tailored to those weighing more than 400 pounds and with daily calorie requirements in excess of 10,000. the prices are extraordinarily reasonable. given the portion sizes, the $2 plate-splitting fee seems a little out of place. if you like leftovers (as i do), order a full dinner. if you don't like leftovers and you can't eat like kobayashi, share.

posted on may 18, 2009 by yinzhungry as my buddy jj would say "if you like to eat, big jim's is the spot!". i have been hyped about big jim's for a long time from that man, and he didn't overhype at all! you will not leave big jim's hungry! i have never seenportionsthis big at any other place ever, and everything on the menu sounds so damn good you will want to try it all. i honestly don't know if anything i say in this review will do the food justice, you really will just have to go to big jim's to try it for yourself, but i'm going to do my best. food jalapeno poppers- as an appetizer, these might have been the best poppers i've ever had. if i had to guess, i think these are also homemade. alot of cheese, in the center, and the breading was just enough. the jalapeno wasn't overkill in the popper either, everything in it just meshed well together. two bill- this might go down as my favorite sandwich of all time! i know that is alot to say, but the flavor that was produced in this sa

a favorite. i love big jim's! it's very cheap, theportionsare massive, and the food (wedding soup, open faced turkey sandwich, and fish sandwich) is fantastic. the service is not fast or overly warm, but so what. order another beer and enjoy your company and the great food.
