big greek cafe

this is by far one of the best hidden gems in silver spring. i am now convinced that i need to travel to the city to get greek food! i had a catered lunch with some of big greek cafe's favorite entrees, and i was hooked! to start, i had the salad withfresholives and tzatziki, which was crisp and refreshing (bonus points for the extra olives). i had some falafel, which i could tell was made to order withfreshingredients. the taste beat other falafel i've had in the city so far, and it made me want to come back for more! the pita was grilled with butter/oil, making it perfect to eat with the baba ghanoush (which wasn't too bad). i tried a little bit of all the vegetarian dishes, and i was stuffed! the gyros and chicken looked fantastic, so i'm curious to see how they would taste as well. hands down, this was one of the best lunches i've had since moving to the area!

bring back the chicken. everything that i have eaten here is delicious. i have dined at some good greek restaurants, and i was surprised to find such quality and consistency in a short order shop. granted, the menu pretty much focuses on salads, gyros, and such (i.e. no yiouvetsi, pastitsio, etc), but what there isfreshand prepeared from high quality produce. the shrimp souvlaki pita is my favorite, but everything i've tried is good. because most customers come for sandwiches and salads, the management removed their roast chicken dinner from the menu. it's a pity, for it was wonderful. still, there are plenty of treats here to satisfy one.
