our first experience withbigbill's was take-out pizza and wings. the wings were sweet and not at all spicy, not what i want with pizza. their blue cheeses and ranch dressings are so good, they are defiantly worth mention. we tried the large combo pizza and it was good, but i think it would have been outstanding if we had eaten at the restaurant. it ended up a bit wet and soggy from the time in the box, so next time i do take out, i'll get something simpler like cheese or pepperoni and maybe in a smaller size to avoid the sog. i can tell the pizza crust is fermented/proofed a day or more, it is truly outstanding. i am looking forward eating at the restaurant and trying their calzone and lasagna!

this has been my favorite pizza joint for as long as i've lived in colorado. it's greasy, crunchy, cheesy, meaty, calorie-heavy perfection. if you're into artisan pizza, this place isn't for you, but if you want the absolute perfection that is new york inspired pizza, you'll lovebigbill's.

best calzone anywhere. i love this place. best calzone i've ever had, and i've tried dozens. incredible crust - a little crunchy crispy in the outside and chewy inside. nicebigchunks of onions and peppers that are still pretty tender and tasty. fantastic sauce and lots of cheese. this thing should be it's own food group. you will be stuffed if you can finish it. great atmosphere. biggest problem here is getting in as it can have a line out the door any friday and saturday for sure. worth the wait, though.

pizza, bread sticks, wings and ice cream! the place was packed. the ice cream was a local brand and their key lime pie flavor was abighit with us. i wouldn't characterize the pizza as being close to authentic ny pizza, but it's ok in its own way.

paisano pizza. mama mia, bigbill! why's a paisano like you making new york pizza? is this any way for a paisano to act after landing in america-to take an honest-to-god pizza recipe from the old country and water it down to a new york pizza with a thin crust, skimpy tomato sauce, and cheese? cheese? yeah, i think you used cheese, but not thebighands full of cheese mama uses in napoli. where is the old fashioned, thick, chewy, crust mama tosses through the air? where's the thick, tomato sauce full of garlic that dribbles down your chin with each bite? where's the thick, melted mozzarella cheese, the slices of provolone, pepperoni, dried herbs, olives, and olive oil that drowns the pizza? you left them in napoli.
oh, and about your restaurant, bigbill. maybe in new york of america they like to eat with a stranger's elbow in their face, but i need room, bigbill, i need room to eat, to talk, and laugh with my mouth full without having to shout over the mob sitting around me. i
swear on mama's bible that i ate pizza on a windowsill squeezed between five small tables at your restaurant.
paisano, remember your roots: the sacred dining, the privacy of family communion, or i will write a long letter to mama in napoli and tell her how you eat pizza in the middle of a rat race. tears will flow.
paisano, we are brothers from the same homeland. my heart swells with pride when i see the crowds standing in line for your pizza. for our homeland's sake make thicker, chewier pizza crust that won't dump tomato sauce all over the table. add ham, anchovies, pep-peroni, olives, onions, and peppers to a thick layer of mozzarella. ah, mama mia, i'm drooling! now that's the kind of pizza you should serve: pizza your eyes will eat. keep trying,bigbill-and god bless you.
your friend,
luigi

best calzone in denver.bigbill's makes a combo calzone that is just one of the best things to eat in the whole of denver. it should be it's own food group. i have eaten calzones all over the country and none come close. there is something about the ingredients they use that is just delectable every time.

and the crust - wow. it's always got a slight crunch to the outside and is chewy inside. the taste and texture are second to none.

they are really big, and while i know it's more than should be eaten at one sitting, i can never resist. i always polish it off with a good beer.

the place is busy almost every night so call ahead and get take out. if you go in and order, you can watch the whole thing made right at the counter - nothing hidden here! the guys who make the pizzas and calzones are like a whole team of energizer bunnies - they work their as#$s off! and if you want to stay, plan on a wait most nights. the dining room is full of sports memorabilia, including a bunch of stuff that is absolutely unique to bill and his history.

big bill frequently visits and talks to his customers. when he's not in his smart car, that is!

great food, great place - a denver treasure!

big bill is the man.. i think this restaurant is more about the owner than the actual food. bill is a really stand-up, great guy, but i would not call this red sauce joint anything out of the ordinary. i'd just as soon go to farro across the street where the food is of a higher culinary order.

there is nothing wrong with this pizzeria; i think it is simply an independent place that the locals realized they could love and support. i wish denver diners had this attitude toward more independently owned restaurants. then we could maybe kill the predominance of some of the gnarlier chains (e.g. chili's, olive garden, etc.) in the suburbs.

seriously folks, give the mom and pop places a shot. you might just find anotherbigbill's to support.

you like ny style thin crust pizza? you will lovebigbills. the pies here taste great. my wife love the sauce, it's not to soupy on the pizza...just the right amount and with a nice tang and sweetness. the toppings are tasty and it has just the right amount of cheese. the service us fast and friendly, sometimesbigbill will bring the pie to you table and chat a bit. pizza hut, dominos, pappa john's....? fugidaboudit!!!
