i've been looking for a place to take family and out of towners to eat bbq since i moved to nc 4 years ago, well i think, we think we found it, everybody in our party loved it, the ribs were great and the brisket was the best i've ever tried, and i've tried bbq everywhere, from texas to st louis..the beans were outstanding and the slaw was owesome!!!i thought the hushpuppies were very good also. when we went it was pretty slow but the service was great, we spoke to one of the owners who was very interested along with the rest of the staff, everybody was very attentive, we also had the local draft beer, at 2bucks it was very affordable and good. we were told that the restaurant is in the process of expanding. all in all i would highly recommend this restaurant. we live about 30 minutes away yet the drive was well worth the drive!!

great barbecue!. one would expect that the pork ribs at a barbecue place would be good; bibs' are better than that. what is more surprising is how good the other meats were. the turkey was juicy and devoid of the all-too-typical stringiness. the side dishes were flavorful and the prices are very good for the quality of the dishes. definitely warrants a visit.

awesome. tried it today for lunch for the first time and thought it was great! had the beef brisket plate with the fries. the brisket was fantastic; had a nice pink smoke ring, tender, juicy, and the sauce had just the right amounts of sweet and spice. the fries were like none i've ever had before...a party for my taste buds. hush puppies were perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside with a unique flavor. i'm not a slaw person so i can't really give an opinion on it. overall, i loved it...will probably become my go-to bbq place.

i have now tried everything on the menu, i would avoid the potato salad. fries are wonderfully seasoned, beef briscuit is meltingly good, sliced properly, smoke ring is barely there. pulled pork is edible, and tasty, meets a standard for good pulled pork well. the hushpuppies are fantastic, try them! red slaw or white, love that i have a choice. ribs are the crown jewel, largely served they are indeed what you're looking for.

a little weird, but ok. the food is good, but the format is a little weird. i'd prefer having a waiter come over to my table and take my order rather than ordering at the counter.

i was excited.... i'm a transplant, and love memphis and texas style bbq. after trying most of the local bbq spots, i had given up on finding bbq in nc that i liked...this place is great!

im sorry i forgot. yes...sugar in french fries....its freaking amazing....if yu like sweet potato fries this is close. its not a lot, just a tiny bit that made me go "is that sugar?"...and hell yeah, it made my day. what do you think is the main ingredient in ketchup? other than tomatoes.......

other reviews here are off base. i think the reviewers here have never eaten bbq outside of nc....fine, but don't disparage something different cause it's different. this place is long overdue for the triad and offers some of the finest.....beans, meat and slaw i have had across the country. the puppies were excellent...though i thought they were burned at first, they actually were perfect upon poppin them in my mouth...and what was that flavor?....took some 2 hours to realize it was sage and onions...kapow! love it. not really a southern spice but thats what makes them so special. only have 3? craft beers but they got that right with anchor, highlands and a summer beer...very nice for a small selection. beans are flat out the best ever period, same with the beef brisket sandwich (if you haven't been to the st loooey lower mid west). mac and cheese wasnt great, but everything else i tried was pretty amazing for winston and would hold its own across the states. the best thing is the price...i mean the beef brisket sandwich plate was 6 bucks....i paid 11 for the same thing in another state. basically a lunch here will last you all day and all night, a bargain eatery that brings a different flavor to the triad...and while i love vinegar nc bbq, this is a welcome change and no you dont need extra sauces and crap to douse your meat....when i read the whiners wanting extra sauce...well, you have no clue...its about the meat smoked to perfection flavor...no sauce needed, the excellent fries dont even need ketchup...but you nc red-hot-dog eaters need to give it a try and taste meat...not sauce... no i dont work here, im just damn skippy happy they opened this up.

didn't like it.. ugh. i don't think i'll eat there again. i had the pulled pork sandwich, and although their pulled pork was moist and melt-in-your-mouth, i didn't detect much flavor. there weren't any sauces or dips to add. the red slaw was dry and flavorless, it added nothing but bulk to the bbq or the sandwich. the kaiser roll took over, overshadowed the bbq completely, and i found myself wishing for a regular cheap hamburger bun.

a friend and i, also tried the beef brisket sandwich with white slaw. the beef brisket had an "off" flavor, the slaw was "bitter", and again, a bun that totally overshadowed the brisket. the dog got this one.

i wanted to love the french fries, nicely seasoned with a great flavor, but ruined by the spinkling of sugar. sugar on french fries? no thanks.

the hushpuppies were too big, was also sprinkled with sugar, and i missed the onion taste of most hushpuppies. it had a nice crunch, but the inside was very heavy and dense. did i taste sage??

i am still suffering today. i can't get this bad meal out of my mind or the bottom of my stomach, and tums isn't doing the trick.

not my favorite in the way of bbq but a comfortable spot. my wife would debate me. she loves their food. have your tums ready. picknick style eatery. i think they need more condiments. especially some hot sauces.

finger lickin good. not the best i've ever had but pretty close. the half rack of ribs for 12 dollars was a lot of food and delicious. the hush puppies had too much pepper in them though. the pulled pork sandwich was also good and a big sandwich to boot. overall, good barbecue. i'd recommend it but don't go in with huge expectations.
