i went their and the overall experience was very warm and calm. i enjoyed my time with my family. i really loved their service and ambiance.

what a fabulous night at benares, we had the tasting menu bought for us as a gift and added the premium wine pairing to go with it.

started with champagne cocktail which was amazing. the food was exquisite and the flavours so delicate. the sommelier paired the wines to perfection and even though many would not be our normal choice you can instantly taste why they pair to perfection. 7 courses and all where a hit, as was the service, decor and decor. i also like the space around your table and the very personal service. the team are so friendly.

i was really intrigued how ashton would deliver michelin star food and boy has he delivered.

loved the ambience . but low variety for vegetarians. the available food tastes great . would definitely recommend for a good fine dine experience.

so i was expecting angels and heavenly trumpets at this 1 star. what we got was food that varied from good to outstanding. but strangely, the experience wasn’t quite as good as i was expecting and a notch below say ziya in mumbai. or spices route in delhi. or tonka in melbourne.

the food varies from excellent- karajan kekda(which is soft shell crab in papaya relish, mango, turmeric and ginger dressing) and dhungar trout - darjeeling smoked chalk stream trout, sweet corn and chilli salsa, lime crème fraiche. the lesser impressive was the tandoor ratan ( chargrilled sea bass, chicken tikka, ajwani king prawn and lamb seek kebab.) all a bit so, so.

mains of tandoori murg which is a classic but in a mint and corriander chutney, and which was very good. the standout of the evening of changezi chaapein which are smoked tandoori lamb cutlets in sautéed mangetout with rohan sauce. truly wonderful and cutlets were moist, smokey and perfectly charred. a big test of the cuisine was stock standard dishes of palak paneer ( ok) and dahl ( spicy but we’ve eaten better in india.)

service was outstanding. professional, knowledgeable and friendly.

when you're staying miles away from home and you crave for the flavors of your own country, this place is blindly the best choice. every single thing here has the flavor of india, eating here doesn't feel like you're eating at a place away from your country. the hospitality, the warmth of the people and the taste of food reminded me of my country. i wish to come back very soon.

yes, not tasting indian food so far, is one of the biggest mistakes ever. i don't know why i have a prejudice but i've missed a lot. anyway, maybe it's big chance for me to taste indian food for the first time in benares, a fancy restaurant in mayfair with delicious food and smiley waiters and waitresses. i most liked harriyali macchi (marinated seabass), kadai murg (spicy chicken) and dal palak (lentile with spinach). after italian and far east cuisine, indian cuisine definitely became my 3rd favourite cuisine.

avoid this place as the head chef "atul kochar" has a stinky mentality, will serve you food with high amount of racism. -- look for his recent tweets, spreading hate.

indian/english infused cuisine. michelin star food, never had lobster biryani but now in love with it. this place isn’t obviously cheap but worth a go for a special occasion, service was good and the food was even better. we ended up spending around £86 per head with starter and mains, they offered complementary finger foods and even a some sweets at the end. again recommended for special occasions.

excellent food, great service by lucy (she was very warm/ cheerful), great ambience and hospitable manager. all in all, benares isn’t just a restaurant but an experience, must visit for some of the best indian food in london.

once upon a very long time ago, indian dining in the u.k. was synonymous with the concept of a curry house, ironically often run by non-indian families (i suppose going for a “bangladeshi” just didn’t have the same ring to it). fast forwarding to present day, indian cuisine has quietly evolved to command an “on-trend” status spanning a broad spectrum from niche single-issue eateries (such as kati roll co. or dum biryani) to restaurants inspired by the vastly-vibrant cultures of india (think bombay irani cafes and more).

named after india's holy city, benares, is a good mix of traditional and modern fine dinning indian fusion food restaurant. a huge boat paining and indian statues at entrance gives impression of holy city.
it was my son's bday and we all wanted to have indian food.
we ordered butter chicken khatti bhindi and dal. food was good but nothing wow! for desert creme brulee is good. they also organized a small cake for bday.
staff is very courteous with personal touch and care by restaurant manager. he is there to understand your taste and advice food & drinks accordingly.
overall good experience! one word id advice though - advance booking is necessary as its famous place.

curry with class! situated in the heart of mayfair. i came here for an anniversary and was really looking forward to eating this infamous chef's food.
the waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. after much recommendations, we made our choices.
everything we ate was not only stunning to look at but extremely tasty. the layers of subtle spices were devine.
a perfect setting for a special occasion. can't wait to come back!
