a few more things... the portions are kinda small (but can't really complain because the price is super cheap) i had to double order to get enough food. there isn't a very big selection either.

i really liked the concept & the food was good. the service was amazing! my main issue was the space: i know it's an old building but they could've done better with the paneling, moulding & flooring. those need replacing because it looks kinda dirty & takes away from the charm. also, there was a thick layer of dust on the chandeliers over the tables.

today was my first time visiting the beauty shop. my friend ordered the daily special which was a pasta. the pasta was delicious but the portion was small. there wasn't much to select from. i ordered a burger. boring. i know. the burger was good as well. overall i was a little disappointed with the selection. but the service was terrific.

3 for lunch. went to the beauty shop today for the first time with my daughter, who lives in memphis and my best friend, nancy. it wasn't crowded at all at 1 pm and our server was very friendly and helpful. nancy ordered the thai steak salad which she stated was somewhat over-powering with anise but the steak was cooked perfectly. daughter ordered a cheeseburger which she said was good but nothing to brag about. i ordered the "beef dip" sandwich (can't remember the name on the menu) and i asked for no horseradish. the only complaint i had was that it came on a fresh hamburger bun that could not hold up to the au jus and wound up eating most of the sandwich with a fork. a french roll would have been wonderful. the home-made chips and chipolte aioli was the best!

a favorite lunch spot. this is one of my favorite places to eat at lunch time. the sandwiches (that include especially good chips and aioli) and salads are portioned well, but i have left hungry when ordering the entrees. my favorite menu item is the thai cobb salad which has an unusual collection of flavors with a great balance. it's pricey compared to a few other places, but the ambiance, service and quality of the food makes it a great destination. also, the crepes with nutella are awesome.

really cool. i live in louisiana and came here for a girls weekend with my friends. we heard about this place from a friend and we loved it. the atmosphere is really neat and it has a cool story.

we ordered some cocktails and they were really good. for our appetizer we got the grilled peaches and they were amazing.

our entrees were tasty as well, we tried their daily specials that the service was prompt and when we asked about places we should hit up while we were in town the staff was really accommodating. all in all this was a great place to eat!

i really like going here for weekday lunch. most everything under $10, not crowded, great food, can park not too far away. this place is very popular for dinner and brunch, but for some reason not busy for lunch. a new favorite.

overall, the beauty shop is a restaurant that i have enjoyed going to for the past few years. whether it is a cheeseburger for lunch, grilled lamb sirloin for dinner and shrimp and grits for sunday brunch, i have never had a bad meal there.

the beauty shop is where i ended my birthday weekend on sunday morning for brunch. as i usually work every sunday morning, i wanted to go to some place that only serves brunch one day a week instead of saturday as well. it was a real treat to do this. apparently, the beauty shop is the place to go for brunch on sundays, as the place was packed out the door when we walked up. the hostess lindsey greeted us at the door and asked if we had a reservation. since we did not, as my type a personality went out the door this weekend, she said it would be about a 45 minute wait. normally, this would throw me off. i was hungry, and i needed pancakes. however, i saw the bloody marys out of the corner of my eye, and i knew i would be fine for that 45 minutes. she wrote our name down, and i instantly went to the bar to order three "bad boy bloody marys". (i had two people with me. it's sunday morning for heavens-sake people.) they were huge. not only that, but they are handmade! the bartender did e

the beauty shop is one of the rare places in memphis where good food meets good design. the barrel vault ceiling, custom-made shimmering wall covering, and rustic with classic furniture mix create a place i can brag about to fellow architects and designers coming from the hip, more urban cities. some of the integrated seats and mirrors are actually a few throwbacks to the original beauty shop, the same beauty shop that priscilla presley frequented when my hair stylist robin tucker' s mother and grandmother owned it back 30 or 40 so years ago. it was quite fitting i had a lunch meeting there to discuss the upcoming aia memphis design awards with committee chairs and designers. as always, i ordered the sugar and cayenne dusted frites. a strange combination to some but absolutely addictive to me. i then ordered for the first time the day's crepe special stuffed with roast beef and gruyere cheese. the simple sweetness of the crepe made the biggest impact overall. i'm not sure what other fi

overpriced but tasty food. martinis pretty good but how about filling my glass or bring the jigger to the table if you're afraid you may spill it. the grilled pork chop was a cheap cut and not grilled properly.
