barrio tacos

stopped in saturday night to check the new place out. big mistake. waited over 20 minutes just to be greeted by our server and even longer for our margaritas, that didn't show up until after our food(?!?) i believe i saw what appears to be the manager walking around, looking very discombobulated and offering no direction or help to his staff. would have takentimeto complain but just wanted out. yuck.

my wife and i visited barrio this past sunday. very disappointed. ordered $12 margaritas that were average, ordered second $6 margarita while waiting for our tacos.
28 minutes and 2 margaritas down i received 1 cold house special taco. 10 minutes later my wife received hers. she ate and we left. it will be alongtimebefore if ever i go back.

i am always disappointed in my experience here these days. when they first opened the ingredients were fresh and the staff was friendly. those are experiences of the past. i haven't had a positive experience since 2012. their food is no longer fresh and they seem to have forgotten how to make your order (even though you write it down for them!) the service is horrific (they have literally messed up my bill every singletimei've gone there). too bad barrio didn't stay on it's original course...

i went to the location in lakewood. i arrived around 5, and it wasn't really busy, which was contrary to the lasttimei went on december 30th. i don't know if it was because it was close to new year's, but the place was jam packed, and with a wait over an hour i didn't stay. anyways, there were plenty of tables when i went tonight, and the service was good.

i ordered one "hasta la vista baby" taco, and created two of mine own. i got a side of pickled vegetables and rice as well. the tacos and vegetable were all good, although they mixed up the salsa on one of the tacos i created. the rice was just plain white rice, which was a lite disappointing. overall a good meal. everything had good flavor and the meat was very tender.

on one of my last nights out, i decided to catch up with my buddy yaw from northwestern. we walked around his neighborhood for a little while and ended up at barrio. it was the last nice night out before the rains started, so we sat on their nice back patio. the whole premise is to make your own taco. it was pretty disorganized, and there were way too many options to construct a reasonable taco. i ended up with a little meat and a big mess of toppings (probably my own fault, but i could've used some more guidance). our waiter was absent for the whole meal. we needed things like napkins, silverware, water, and more drinks the wholetimewe were there. the margaritas were probably the strongest point of the meal.

great food + great drinks = great place. we ate there for the 1sttimeabout 2 weeks ago and have been back 3 more times already (and live over 20-minutes away!). love the food and the drinks.

the 1sttimei was there with just my husband, and had the pick 3 sampler of guac+ salsas which was great. everything was delicious. the marigold is my new favorite drink too - served in a a mason jar and just the right mix of sweet & sour.

the nexttimewe were there with my daughter and a few friends. everyone enjoyed it. kids will ike the fact that they can pick what they want from the tablets on the table and adults will like the variety of choices from spicy bar-b-que to tofu for our veggie friends, it all adds up to good food and fun.
