besides visiting all the historical sites like the alamo, i think the first thing i will probably want to try in texas is their famous texas bbq. i know that there’s plenty of debate about the best bbq, but you know what? i am not passing up good grub. since that is not happening soon, i take comfort in knowing that we have a bit of texas’ best in walnut creek, california. back forty texas bbq serves up some delicious bbq. we have been here for lunch, dinner, private parties, and even had them catered at work and offsite. and almost without fail, we love their bbq ribs! and they are famous, too! their bbqribsplaced first at the nugget rib cook-off in 2011 (reno, nevada).

they won the best in the west rib cook off so i checked them out. now i see why. bestribsi have ever had!

personal favorite. you have to try this place out. some people eat pasta, some eat mexican, i eat bbq and this place is the best in the area. worth the stop.

i know why back fortyribswon the cook-off. love, love, love the bbq! my favorite is the chicken, but the family goes for theribs(just saw that they won 1st place at the national rib cook-off!). bought a couple of rib round-ups to feed the whole family for a birthday celebration last night. used the online coupon - great value (especially with the free chicken for me). the boys like the regular sauce, but they gave us some of the bold to try and i really liked it. if you're looking for good bbq, back forty is the place. btw - the take-out was easy. even though there was a line at pick-up, i didn't have to wait.

great grub service ambiance prices and parking. the bbq porkribswere moist and lean with that just off the grill taste that a bbq should have. the service was fast pleasant and attentive. two senior meals with drinks and desert cost but $31total. the texas decor was appropriate and not over done. lots of parking in a copious lot. highly recommended for family fun.

consistently bad takeout. i have ordered takeout from this restaurant twice and both times it's been wrong. the first time they gave us pork vs beef ribs, leaving one person in our party without meat for dinner. the second time they failed to switch out the potatoe salad for an extra coleslaw & gave us two potatoe dishes when we didn't want any, leaving our non-carb eater with onlyribsfor dinner. i've ordered from them twice in the span of several months and they are consistent in their inability to get it right - not sure i will try a third time.

my favorite rib joint. back fortyribsare the most tender and flavorful i've ever had. they're soooo good we drive 2-3 hours from carmel just for lunch. the sides are great, the wait staff is super nice, and the atmosphere is western without beating you over the head with it. can't recommend this place highly enough.

back forty texas bbq. this place has the best ribs. my favorite are the pork ribs.
no matter were i go, when i come home, i need my fix of
of porkribsfrom the back forty. the juicy beef brisket is my second choice, and is also very good. the sweet potato fries are always one of the sides i get with the lone ranger. the price can't be beat. my husband loves to have a bowl of their chicken tortilla soup, with a jeff margarita.
