this is not what it used to be. i used to love sitting in thecozy bar with baebut the musicians are gnarlyand so is the food. the salad had a brown rim and the really expensive steak i ordered was not a quality cut--marbled with 80% fat and when i told the high pitched voice lady manager with brown hair she was veryconfrontational amd defensive. i was just making a recommendation, don't get it twisted!

absolutely horrible portion for the money. flat out not what i was expecting. don't waste your time. service was less than you would expect at a fast food joint. disgusting overall.

great restaurant. thank you for the wonderful waitress services, i felt attended and not in my face it was done in a great timing process. i love your food and this is the reason why i always come back! thank you.

back forty texas is a nice restaurant to go enjoy a meal with your love ones. i recommend it to anyone it has nice decent food.

besides visiting all the historical sites like the alamo, i think the first thing i will probably want to try in texas is their famous texas bbq. i know that there’s plenty of debate about the best bbq, but you know what? i am not passing up good grub. since that is not happening soon, i take comfort in knowing that we have a bit of texas’ best in walnut creek, california. back forty texas bbq serves up some delicious bbq. we have been here for lunch, dinner, private parties, and even had them catered at work and offsite. and almost without fail, we love their bbq ribs! and they are famous, too! their bbq ribs placed first at the nugget rib cook-off in 2011 (reno, nevada).

they won the best in the west rib cook off so i checked them out. now i see why. best ribs i have ever had!

personal favorite. you have to try this place out. some people eat pasta, some eat mexican, i eat bbq and this place is the best in the area. worth the stop.

i know why back forty ribs won the cook-off. love, love, love the bbq! my favorite is the chicken, but the family goes for the ribs (just saw that they won 1st place at the national rib cook-off!). bought a couple of rib round-ups to feed the whole family for a birthday celebration last night. used the online coupon - great value (especially with the free chicken for me). the boys like the regular sauce, but they gave us some of the bold to try and i really liked it. if you're looking for good bbq, back forty is the place. btw - the take-out was easy. even though there was a line at pick-up, i didn't have to wait.

great grub service ambiance prices and parking. the bbq pork ribs were moist and lean with that just off the grill taste that a bbq should have. the service was fast pleasant and attentive. two senior meals with drinks and desert cost but $31total. the texas decor was appropriate and not over done. lots of parking in a copious lot. highly recommended for family fun.

best bbq in walnut creek area. up there with the old flints and leons. the beef brisket is to die for, and is my atf. the place is very fun and comfortable and like a saloon. the staff members are really good and accommodating. not sure why there are any ba reviews. don't believe them! ps. the comment on pork vs beef, let's face it, beef is by the rib and pork by the slab. i don't believe the review

lone rangers rock. great deal and you can try their yummy sides like sweet 'tato fries. the smaller portion is plenty for dinner.

nice bar area. cold beer. fast service good food. i had the chopped beef sandwich, could have been a spicier in my opinion but then again i'm a texas boy eating bar b q in cali. large portions. overall 4.5*

consistently bad takeout. i have ordered takeout from this restaurant twice and both times it's been wrong. the first time they gave us pork vs beef ribs, leaving one person in our party without meat for dinner. the second time they failed to switch out the potatoe salad for an extra coleslaw & gave us two potatoe dishes when we didn't want any, leaving our non-carb eater with only ribs for dinner. i've ordered from them twice in the span of several months and they are consistent in their inability to get it right - not sure i will try a third time.

back forty rocks. this place is killer. the food is fantastic and the employees are always really great. the bar is a great place to take the wife or girlfriend. if you do dine, make sure you order a combo of pork ribs, juicy beef brisket, and chicken. the berry cobbler is killer too. oh, and i don't know who the whiners are... but they don't s*@t if they don't think this place is great.

my favorite rib joint. back forty ribs are the most tender and flavorful i've ever had. they're soooo good we drive 2-3 hours from carmel just for lunch. the sides are great, the wait staff is super nice, and the atmosphere is western without beating you over the head with it. can't recommend this place highly enough.
