athena's is my "go-to" for greek / lebanese food in shreveport. since the closing of albasha, they now carry the torch for great mediterranean dishes. their recent remodel has made the place more inviting with large tables for a great family meal or get together with friends. the food andservicecontinue to improve as opposed to slipping over time like many local establishments. i enjoy the many different appetizers they offer especially the baba ghanouj a dish i rarely order, i'm not usually a big fan, but athena's is fantastic! i also like their hummus, it's thick with a smooth texture and taste, but look out for the jalapeno oil mixture in the center! great flavor and heat if you desire. the entrees run the gamut from veggie samplers and kebabs to fish and shrimp dishes to great meat plates including some of the finest lamb chops i've had, simply delicious! i can recommend most any dish, i've yet to find anything i don't enjoy here. try the lebanese or mango tea for a cool refreshing change, leave the soda fountain for fast food restaurants! after your meal take a look in the back. they have a small grocery of exotic middle eastern foods and hookah, fun to look at and an adventure to try. (the food that is, leave the hookah alone kids)
