this is by far my favorite greek in town! the decor is somewhat plain, but lends itself great for family or friends. there is a patio area, as well as hookah available. the staff has always been helpful and attentive, with the owner appearing periodically to ensure quality. there is even a little store inside. i recommend the athena's special for two. every time we hav gone, we have not been disappointed. a great local restaurant, fair prices and wonderful food.

good. ive been coming here for a while and the food is genuinely good. ofcourse, you can taste when the food isnt fresh like the grape leaves, hummus, and ground meat. the staff is quite awkward, tattooeed ungroomed and dressed unproffessionally. service is very fast! the manager is awesome and only until recently did i have a decent looking waitress i didnt catch her name but she was middle eastern and very sincere! i had a very pleasant experience. i do suggest the chicken shawarma plate but it isnt what you think. its just chicken breasts sliced. if you go make sure you request the middle eastern waitress and lebanese ice tea. you will not regret it.

awesome.. athena's food is consistently delicious. the only thing i've had from there that i didn't like is their mousaka (however that's spelled). even my cantankerous old grandfather, who only eats peas and cornbread, loves this place. the only truly negative thing i can say is that their waitresses are awkward and perhaps borderline autistic.

great food and immaculate service! some of the best ethnic restaurants in town. the ambience is calm yet casual. a plus is they have "byob" policy without any cork charge. can't get better. we will be back regularly!

great place to get a more authentic greek experience in shreveport. the side salad is amazing. you can tell the dressing is homemade and it's wonderful! also has my favorite chicken gyro, compared to other greek places in town.

athena's is my "go-to" for greek / lebanese food in shreveport. since the closing of albasha, they now carry the torch for great mediterranean dishes. their recent remodel has made the place more inviting with large tables for a great family meal or get together with friends. the food and service continue to improve as opposed to slipping over time like many local establishments. i enjoy the many different appetizers  they offer especially the baba ghanouj a dish i rarely order, i'm not usually a big fan, but athena's is fantastic! i also like their hummus, it's thick with a smooth texture and taste, but look out for the jalapeno oil mixture in the center! great flavor and heat if you desire. the entrees run the gamut from veggie samplers and kebabs to fish and shrimp dishes to great meat plates including some of the finest lamb chops i've had, simply delicious! i can recommend most any dish, i've yet to find anything i don't enjoy here. try the lebanese or mango tea for a cool refreshing change, leave the soda fountain for fast food restaurants! after your meal take a look in the back. they have a small grocery of exotic middle eastern foods and hookah, fun to look at and an adventure to try. (the food that is, leave the hookah alone kids)

having been to the middle east, this place is about as close to authentic as it'll get for louisiana. my wife and i had the sampler appetizer and the combination kabob. it was all delicious! the only complaint was the pita was not made there. it looked store bought. the meats and vegetables were grilled and seasoned well. the three different "sauces", tzatziki, hummus, and babaganoush all go very well with the meats and vegetables. we really enjoyed this restaurant. we just wished we would've known that it was bring your own booze!!! enjoy!

they had us with the salad. we took a lunch trip here today and were very satisfied.
jg score of 6 (+3 for food, 0 for atmosphere, +1 for price, 0 for no diet dr pepper, 0 for service, +2 for we would return)
the food was all delicious to us. we each got a large plate and shared them. one plate was the athena sampler with hummus, baba ghanoush, stuffed grape leaves, falafel and tzatziki dip. the other plate was the combo plate of gyro and chicken shawarma with some hummus included. the meal was served with 2 baskets of pita bread. an appetizer of a greek feta salad was 1st.
our favorite of the meal was the opening greek salad. the lettuce, oil, herbs, feta cheese and tomato and olives was a knockout to us= we can't think of a better salad at this moment we have ever had. next in line for our liking was the combo meat plate. the chicken shawarma is the best cooked and seasoned yardbird we remember. the gyros we made were very tasty. the meat had a great taste and texture....these 3 prior were our favorites. the rest was all good and we would eat anytime again but not as standout. our least favorite was the tzatziki type sauce but we still ate it all. we ate and ate and ate here.
the atmosphere here is okay. we did sit by a window. i liked the mini type grocery in the back where you can buy some of the ingredients to some of this stuff.
the price was excellent we thought for the amount of food we got.
no diet dr pepper, just diet coke.
service was good. typical, friendly but not overboard. she did ask if we wanted "to go" drinks on her own which is always a plus.
we would easily go back here sometime. this experience and the food was awesome. finding this place is why we do this stuff.

not impressed at all. i had the moussaka which came with some tasteless rice and hummus. for dessert i had the baklava which was so dry it could not be eaten. i did not like the moussaka at all. i do not think that hummus is an acceptable side dish for a meal. it should be on the appetizer menu. something more substantial should accompany the tasteless rice. the only good thing i had was the salad that came with the meal. it was very good. the service was very good. i will not be going back to this restaurant again.
