good job!. we have been going to thissteakhouse probably since it opened. more years than i can remember.
there has always been a tangible family pride in what they serve and how they serve it.

how does this place get 4.7???? worststeakof my life. the leather on my shoe is more tender. ordered the tbone special medium rare. about 1/4 of it was medium, the majority well done and about 1/4 of it was inedible bc it was past the point of being able to be called steak. the only thing i can say was good was the texas toast, which i would give a "5". the guy at the grill was more interested in yelling at the girl who was manning the cash register than actually cooking steaks. will never go back. ever. worst $20 i've ever spent.

clearly, people are rating this place so high because of the incredible amount of food you get for your money here--because you would not go here for a high-quality steak... steaks are large and reasonably properly cooked (some cuts are thin which makes med-rare a challenge, but the grill chef does a decent job.) steaks are then tenderized (read: pounded with a multi-nail hammer) to death to break up as much sinew as possible. unfortunately, while this does make thesteaksoft, it ends up with a really odd texture. every cut i tried was "livery" to varying degrees (the t-bone was the best imo and the sirloins/strips the worst.)

all that said, inagree with another reviewer that the texas toast here is top-notch! order an extra piece!

baked potatoes were also very good--fresh and fluffy. fries on the night we were there were cooked in oil not quite hot enough which made them throw away.

salad was iceberg (dont dig deep in the letruce bin unless you want leaves soaking in water) and typical low-end toppings (carrot slices, bacos, pre-shredded cheddar), croutons, etc. it's "build your own" here.

by the way things are low priced at face value but you do pay for all the little things which can add up if not careful (sour cream, pop refills, etc)

if you're on a tight budget or in college this might be the place for you to fill up on asteakdinner. if like me you are more about eating better quality steak, try elsewhere.

beststeakhouses used to be all over the twin cities, or at least places like this with the same name.  this one has been around for 40 years. when i started going to them, you could get a completesteakdinner, meaning steak, baked potato, salad and texas toast, for between $2 – $4.  today the range is more like $6- $12 on average, with some up charges and add-ons available. i was in the mood for “chopped steak,” simply because you don’t see it on menus very often. (and after all, the name of the site isn’t “steak, dogs, & pizza!”)

the name says it all. been going to the white bear ave. store for well over 15 years, i really think it's the beststeakaround, and if it's not the beststeakyou've had, it's definitely the best value you'll ever get, this place has ruined me for all other steakhouse's. the atmosphere is a little different but in the probably hundreds of times i've been here i have always left satisfied.

yum!. i have never once heard someone who has eaten at any of the bsh in minnesota badly! i have been going to the east side (off white bear ave, by pizza hut and little ceasers) since i can remember. the price for the amount of food you get is incredible! i always get the same deal, talk to the same cook and sit in the same spot. the place is usually busy, but don't take that as a bad thing, the longest i've ever had to wait for mysteakdinner was maybe 10 minutes after i got thru the line. it's not a first date kind of place for many people, but i would marry a guy if he did. best gyro, and steaks. i love the salad bar, wish they gave you a bigger bowl! ;) all and all, everyone should try it once, stay away from thesteaksandwhich, much better deal for the ranch sirlion and way more tasty ! :) just a suggestion

it is awesome here. you get a great steak/burger/gyro or a number or other things, cooked perfectly with sides. i've never paid over $20, or left the restaurant anything but stuffed. i've brought my own "montreal steak" seasoning and shaken some onto mysteakbefore in secret, but i'm nuts over that stuff. been here a bunch, and have never been disappointed. don't bring your first date here or anything, it's not high class but it's damn good.

greatsteakhouse. not the fanciest place in the world, but buck for buck, great place to get a steak, salad, texas toast and tater at a fair price. if i am there later in the evening, they sometimes give me an extra texas toast or tater.
been going there for 40 years. i don't think there is a store in that strip mall been there as long as bsh has. oh yea, the auto parts store been there forever to. but they have changed ownership 3 times.
just wish they would bring back the 20oz porterhouse special. i want to see if i can finish one....

good inexpensive steak. the restaurant is in a slightly shabby strip mall, inside the decor is somewhat dated, but in good condition, comfortable and clean. you place your order at the counter, grab a tray cafeteria-style, fix your salad, then pay and sit down to wait for your order.
on my first visit, i had the 6-oz. sirloin lunch special which included the steak, baked potato, salad, and texas toast for $5.99. per my order, thesteakwas cooked to a nice medium-rare, and was tasty, reasonably tender, and free of fat or gristle. not the beststeaki've had in my life, but decent, and certainly the best i've had as part of a meal for $6.
i've also tried the gyros plate ($9) which consisted of a salad, a huge portion of gyros meat (excellent), hand-cut fries, and pita bread.

we were able to order right away and move through the line to get our salads and then paid at the end of the line. we sat ourselves, which is how you do it at beststeakhouse, and our food was delivered about five minutes later. fast service and decent food at very reasonable prices. excellent gyro!

the food was a little on the greasy side, but good. i had thesteakburger, which is just a hamburger patty that comes with (2) texas toast and a baked potato. reasonably priced.
