we had been meaning to try out this place for quite some time as we have heard rave reviews about it. as you walk in, you see a massive setup with both indoor and outdoor seating. the entire place is very well lit with tungsten lighting and all the furniture is wood which gives it a very rustic feel. the elephant in the room obviously is the massive brewery which is visible to everyone behind a glass panel. they serve about 8 varieties of beer which is more than almost anywhere else in the city.
beverages
detroit swindle, west coast julep, litchi and lemongrass martini, jackson’d. in terms of cocktails we thought this place did an absolutelygreatjob. the detroit swindle is certainly one of the better cocktails we had through the evening. the cranberry and mint worked very well together. the west coast julep was rather different as it was a refreshing mango based cocktail which we certainly liked. the litchi and lemongrass cocktail a little too sweet for our liking however this can be changed quite easily with prior instructions to the bartender. the jackson’d was another highlight in the evening as it was a beer based cocktail which was mixed with gin and certainly something we could not get enough of.
appetizers
to start our meal we ordered the sweet potato fries, bangalore nachos, fancy potato skins, barbecue pork ribs, flaming chicken, charcoal grilled shrimp, beetroot sloppy joe and the crispy calamari. the sweet potato fries were very well cooked and were served with the perfect dip. it was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside which is exactly how a good plate of sweet potato fries should be. we certainly wish more places in bangalore start serving this.
the bangalore nachos was the best amongst all the appetizers according to us. the tortilla chips were crispy and all the toppings were fresh and added a different element to the nachos. the best part was that it was served with some fresh guacamole which absolutely made our evening and we had no choice but to get our fingers dirty and finish the entire plate. the fancy potato skins were perfectly cooked with some fluffy potato on the inside however, we found it to be slightly on the blander side as it lacked seasoning of any sort. a little salt and pepper would have certainly elevated the dish. the barbecue pork ribs were commendable as they pretty much melted off the bone and the sauce it was served with complimented it so well that we had to stop ourselves from ordering another portion as we wanted to save our appetite for the rest of the meal.
the flaming chicken was perfectly cooked and we thought the toasted coconut certainly added a new dimension to the dish as we had not tasted anything like it before. the charcoal grilled shrimp was fresh which you could make out almost immediately and the smoky flavour which you got from it certainly appealed to us. the crispy calamari was well seasoned and had agreatflavour profile when eaten with the dip. the beetroot sloppy joe was a bit of a disappointment as the sweetness of the beetroot overpowered the entire dish and all you would get in your mouth would be the sweetness. however, the beetroot chips which was served with it certainly needs to mentioned as we personally feel they can sell it in individual packets because it tasted very good.
main course
as we were pretty stuffed for the main course we decided to only order the buffalo chicken burger, garden pizza and the grilled salmon. the buffalo chicken burger was very good as it was seasoned perfectly and it had one of the best patties we have eaten in chicken burger. although, we felt the quality of bun could be better we weren’t really complaining considering how much we liked the chicken. the highlight of the evening undoubtedly was the grilled salmon. perfectly cooked meat which was seasoned to perfection. the asparagus paired with that drool worthy butter sauce certainly makes us want to tell everyone to try it out when they go here. the pizza was a slight miss for us as we felt the quality of toppings and cheese could be improved by quite a large margin considering beer and pizza is one of the best combinations.
dessert
the final part of our meal was certainly what made us leave with a wide smile on our faces. we ordered the banoffee pie, tiramisu and the boozy sundae. the tiramisu was slightly harder than we expected and it was a little too sweet but otherwise we gladly downed it due to our partiality towards tiramisu. the banoffee pie was simply one of the best we have ever had anywhere in the city. although, we were full we could not stop ourselves from finishing it. the boozy sundae was another showstopper which is an alcohol based dessert. the fudge brownies topped with vanilla ice – cream, kahlua mousse and chocolate sauce made sure that no matter how strong your will to diet is, the urge to eat this will always be stronger. we are surely ordering all these desserts the next time we go here.
final verdict
we had agreatmeal here with quick service and even better food. we feel that if you are coming here for the drinks, you must certainly pair it with some of the best desserts we have had. this place is perfect for a saturday night party or for a sunday brunch with friends. the ambience here certainly makes the place more desirable which is why we can see it is always so difficult to get a table here even though the place is absolutely massive. we would certainly recommend all of you try out this place.
