appalachian brewing company

my wife and i went to the appalachian brewing company on the recommendation of my brother-in-law, and we were pretty impressed. we stopped by for a late afternoon snack or early dinner and both thefoodand beers were very good. the brew wings were nice and crispy, and we enjoyed both the chipotle and thai sauces. a quesadilla was quite filling and tasty, to boot. i had the abbey roade belgian ale, and it was so smooth and drinkable. my wife's outta focus double ipa was also very good.

the only disappointment was the beer and soda we bought in six-packs to go. the ginger beer had a dirty, muddy flavor, and the outta focus also tasted off. maybe something needed cleaning on the bottling line.

average at best. nothing special. beer was good,foodwas sub par. i sat at the bar and ordered the fish and chips. it took nearly 40 minutes despite the place being pretty empty. the server was great but the fish was soggy and not very good. it was in a very shady neighborhood - i would not go there after dark.

good local place. we were here maybe five years ago and weren't very impressed with the food. but they sure turned it around since then! recently, we've been there five or so times and haven't once been disappointed. my favorite thing to get is the pierogies and sausage. pierogies are crisp but never overcooked, and the sausage moist but not limp. there's a generous dollop of mashed potatoes topped with sauerkraut in the middle, and it's all covered in mustard sauce. my only complaint is that there is sometimes too much mustard sauce. i've ordered a few other dishes i've enjoyed. their house-made potato chips are wonderful, especially dipped in barbecue sauce. the only thing i've had there that i wasn't thrilled about was the carolina quesadilla, which unfortunately is a bit bland. also, another minor complaint is that they don't have specialty mixed drinks. i don't like beer at all, and thisfooddoesn't scream to be paired with wine, so i often order a vodka sour, which is kind of expensive considering everything else is pretty reasonable. from now on, i'll be ordering the abc root beer, which is some of the best root beer i've ever tasted. the diet variety tastes so good you'd never know it's calorie-free.

after reading very disappointing reviews, i expected the worst of the worst. however, the beer is great, the service is great, and thefoodhas portions on portions!foodfor days! the burgers are juicy, cooked to order, and delicious!

good all around, good beer,foodand people!.. my wife and i enjoy the beer and the food. servers are generally good and thefoodis tasty and fairly priced. service is generally good although occasionally a new waiter/waitress may drop the ball. the regulars are great and management cares about making it right if it should fall short in any regard. they ought to invest in bar coasters for the excellent beer. (napkins are cheap and stick to the glass.) we are regulars and bring friends who have been uniformly pleased. come and enjoy with us!

good beer, bad food, terrible service. went in last night with two friends. we tried several beers which were all quite good, especially the seasonal double ipa. two of us ordered soups and sandwiches, another ordered a salad. the salad included a good bit of dried out and browning romaine. my burger was supposed to have three or four toppings and a special mayo, but was a plain cheeseburger. ordered mid-rare, came out mid-well, fries were cold. i would have said something if our server came back to the table at any point in the twenty minutes that we were eating. we were all very hungry and ate despite the mediocre food.

the soups never arrived and other thefoodwas dropped quite a bit after ordering. the manager/runner who dropped off thefoodsaid she'd retrieve the soups without asking if we still wanted them. they came out five minutes later.

it was a real shame because thefoodseemed to have potential. ingredients generally seemed of a high quality but timing, cooking, and service really made this a bad experience. i will probably continue to buy abc's beer, but will make no effort to return to the pub.

nice ambiance. the ambiance is pretty good here. water gap wheat is very good. thefoodis pretty good for a bar. this is an enjoyable place to visit.

go for the beer. i will eat here, but i go for the beer. love their espresso stout and brown ale. thefoodis food. nothing to write home (or urbanspoon) about.

i've had better. i've eaten here a few times and each time thefoodwas pretty mediocre. even more so considering the prices they're charging.

i worked at abc for a year cooking your food. notably fresh may be their motto for beer, but not for their food. the owner artie didnt care about the kitchen or its staff. he also didnt seem to care about the quality offoodhe was serving. i dont evet recomend this place to eat.

beer and wings. i'll admit that most of theirfoodwasn't memorable, i've had some excellent beer here, and as my friends agree, their wings are among the best!
