appalachian brewing company

my wife and i went to the appalachian brewing company on the recommendation of my brother-in-law, and we were pretty impressed. we stopped by for a late afternoon snack or early dinner and both the food and beers were very good. the brew wings were nice and crispy, and we enjoyed both the chipotle and thai sauces. a quesadilla was quite filling and tasty, to boot. i had the abbey roade belgian ale, and it was so smooth and drinkable. my wife's outta focus double ipa was also very good.

the only disappointment was the beer and soda we bought in six-packs to go. the ginger beer had a dirty, muddy flavor, and the outta focus also tasted off. maybe something needed cleaning on the bottling line.

i had this place booked marked for a while now and i finally made my way here. i'm happy i didn't go to far out of my way for it but it was worth the experience.
i had the fire jumper burger which was good. it had a lot of flavor but not over whelming flavor. unfortunate for me though, i like to be overwhelmed with flavor. and it had the perfect amount of heat, but again, unfortunate for me, the hotter the better.
for dessert i had the delicious peanutbutter pie. omg was that good!
service was quick, the atmosphere was very nice and the waiter was very friendly.
i would recommend this place for a try.

nice beer selection including regular drafts and seasonal options. you can also build your own six pack to go. tried the chicken wing appetizer and all you can eat friday fish fry. the wings can be sauced several ways and were crispy and tender. the fish was beer battered and served with fries and cole slaw. really cool place in the middle of harrisburg.

average at best. nothing special. beer was good, food was sub par. i sat at the bar and ordered the fish and chips. it took nearly 40 minutes despite the place being pretty empty. the server was great but the fish was soggy and not very good. it was in a very shady neighborhood - i would not go there after dark.

good local place. we were here maybe five years ago and weren't very impressed with the food. but they sure turned it around since then! recently, we've been there five or so times and haven't once been disappointed. my favorite thing to get is the pierogies and sausage. pierogies are crisp but never overcooked, and the sausage moist but not limp. there's a generous dollop of mashed potatoes topped with sauerkraut in the middle, and it's all covered in mustard sauce. my only complaint is that there is sometimes too much mustard sauce. i've ordered a few other dishes i've enjoyed. their house-made potato chips are wonderful, especially dipped in barbecue sauce. the only thing i've had there that i wasn't thrilled about was the carolina quesadilla, which unfortunately is a bit bland. also, another minor complaint is that they don't have specialty mixed drinks. i don't like beer at all, and this food doesn't scream to be paired with wine, so i often order a vodka sour, which is kind of expensive considering everything else is pretty reasonable. from now on, i'll be ordering the abc root beer, which is some of the best root beer i've ever tasted. the diet variety tastes so good you'd never know it's calorie-free.

after reading very disappointing reviews, i expected the worst of the worst. however, the beer is great, the service is great, and the food has portions on portions! food for days! the burgers are juicy, cooked to order, and delicious!

good all around, good beer, food and people!.. my wife and i enjoy the beer and the food. servers are generally good and the food is tasty and fairly priced. service is generally good although occasionally a new waiter/waitress may drop the ball. the regulars are great and management cares about making it right if it should fall short in any regard. they ought to invest in bar coasters for the excellent beer. (napkins are cheap and stick to the glass.) we are regulars and bring friends who have been uniformly pleased. come and enjoy with us!

delicious craft beer? yes. killer food? absolutely. appalachian brewing company - or abc as harrisburg people call it- is definitely one of my favorite places...

good beer, bad food, terrible service. went in last night with two friends. we tried several beers which were all quite good, especially the seasonal double ipa. two of us ordered soups and sandwiches, another ordered a salad. the salad included a good bit of dried out and browning romaine. my burger was supposed to have three or four toppings and a special mayo, but was a plain cheeseburger. ordered mid-rare, came out mid-well, fries were cold. i would have said something if our server came back to the table at any point in the twenty minutes that we were eating. we were all very hungry and ate despite the mediocre food.

the soups never arrived and other the food was dropped quite a bit after ordering. the manager/runner who dropped off the food said she'd retrieve the soups without asking if we still wanted them. they came out five minutes later.

it was a real shame because the food seemed to have potential. ingredients generally seemed of a high quality but timing, cooking, and service really made this a bad experience. i will probably continue to buy abc's beer, but will make no effort to return to the pub.

got a sampler tray of beer and soft pretzel enjoyed all

good beer, meh food. i know the photo i am sharing is outdated because they no longer serve the tree hugger veggie burger (now it's the cucumber garden burger) but they are essentially the same in quality.

the beers here are really good, from ipas to wheat beers to malty brews. the service is almost always really slow and it isn't like i go when it's busy. sometimes i am first to be seated so it shouldn't be a hardship to take my order. after the order is taken, it usually doesn't take too log to get my meal though.

the food, and there isn't a lot for vegetarians, is so-so. the little salads are unimpressive, the appetizers are extremely salty and laden with too much cheese and the veggie burgers are pretty dry and unpalatable. i keep forgetting ihat because i like the beer so much.

must remember, order only beer.

nice ambiance. the ambiance is pretty good here. water gap wheat is very good. the food is pretty good for a bar. this is an enjoyable place to visit.
