half the tables were empty, but the service was slow and not very attentive. our party was done eating and my wife's meal still was not served. how hard is mac and cheese?foodwas average, nothing special. very disappointing considering other things available downtown.

bad service!!   forced to pay a tip. andfoodwas not prepared as we requested

on august 7th i met 5 of my friends for brunch. their were only 3 other tables with customers in the entire restaurant. and there were no patrons at the bar either. (that should tell you something)

although there were not many customers, i waited almost 15 minutes for the waitress to come over to take my drink order.
she had no personality and hardly said a word. i ordered a bloody mary to drink. she came over and placed a tall glass with 5 ice cubes and clear liquid in front of me. i thought the ice cubes had melted. i asked her what it was. she advised me it was for the "bloody mary bar" and pointed near the door. it was my vodka. if i had not asked she would have said nothing.

i went to the so called bloody mary bar. there were two carafes of tomato juice on the table not in ice. i would think it should have been kept on ice so it would not spoil so i consider that a potential health risk. it made me wonder if they are doing that out where the customers can see what health risks are they taking in the kitchen where we cannot see? there were a few dishes with olives and peppers. some were empty. for a restaurant that had no customers you would think they could keep them full. there was no celery which i usually like. but i made a drink.

after more time past, she finally came and took our orders. again she hardly spoke, she would just look at you when it was your turn to speak. after ordering, the waitress brought out the appetizers others had ordered one at a time. i did not think much about it until it was time for the main courses.

the main courses were brought out one at a time with a long gap of time in between. now, i was brought up and my friends were to, to wait until everyone has theirfoodbefore eating. because of the long time between each plate so we could not do that. eggs do not stay hot long.

after four others got theirfoodthere was another long gap of time and i still had not gotten mine. so i asked where ourfoodwas. her reply was "we serve tapas style." i guess the restaurant really does not know what that means. here is a definition of tapas style "tapas are as a wide variety of small plates, finger foods, and appetizers. the entire meal consists of these smaller dishes that are shared around the table, encouraging guests to order many of the different dishes."
i think she needs to understand that eggs benedict is not a small plate that can be shared. nor my rice bowl. if they want to serve tapas style they need to have a menu with small plates to share not individual meals.

after finally getting the last two meals neither of ours was cooked the way we asked. my friend specially asked for her egg yolk to be hard because she has digestive problems when it is not. well, the yolk was not hard. the waitress never came back to check if everything was ok. so both of us ate thefoodthe way it came out because we figured we would have to wait a long time to get it corrected and most of our friends were almost done with the meals served so much earlier than ours.

here is the real kicker. when she brought our bills there was an automatic 20% tip on the bill.
when i asked if i could reduce it she said no, it is management policy. i do not recall seeing that anywhere on the menu. i am usually a very good tipper, tipping more than 20% at times because that is how i put myself through college but she did not deserve even 20%. i could see having to wait as long as we did if the restaurant was busy but it was not. i can't image how bad it would be if the tables were full.

it took 2 hours to be served. that was ridiculous.

i do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

my friend and i went to anise this weekend for a late lunch. the service was good, although not great.

truffles tator tots were superb. curried chicken wings were good. the cheese plate was okay, albeit a very small portion. shrimp tacos were okay & the duck confit tacos were simply amazing. their gourmet ramen noodles were a disappointment, but the braised pork belly bowl was excellent.

thefoodisn't as pricey as you'd expect, even though most people will end up ordering many small plates. the atmosphere is chic and trendy, and is a good little snack place. i wouldn't necessarily eat here for a big dinner.

3 times i have eaten here, and service is always bad. service is about thw worst i have ever expieranced.foodis very tasty, but holy cow the service is really awful. the crazy thing is that it really wasn't busy.
i was seated outside and after about 15 minutes someone came out and said they couldn't find my server, so they would take my order. after awhile another person brought out the food. no silverware or napkin. i had go ask for something to eat with and for a drink. i got a napkin, and a glass of water.
so just used chop sticks from japcha and ate the pies of meat whole. what a wreck! but at least thefoodwas good. i think it will be a long time before i go back if ever.

great place. was looking for a new place to try and i was very happy with our pick! goodfoodfor a good price. the atmosphere is great, and the server was on point. loved being able to relax and eat "not your everyday" twists on "everyday" food.

dysfunctional. i spent two hours at this restaurant last night and all i ate was tator tots. ourfoodwas served to other tables. our complimentary drinks were never brought out and our server yelled at us in front of tables outside saying he thought we didn't want them? where did you get that idea, we've been sitting for two hours i'll take anything! after everything, we never received ourfoodbut i did have a discussion with the manager who unapologetically told me they don't read reviews because he knows they have great service. he was egotistical, angry and made it seem like it was our fault we hadn't received our food. i've never written a bad review before but my experience here was exceptionally awful.

horrible bartenders. just went to try this restaurant last night for a date night. my husband and i arrived around 8:30 and were told it would be a 30 min wait for a table so we went to sit down at the bar which was not full. we sat and sat while the bartender standing almost directly in front of me did not even so much as acknowledge our presence. he was initially helping the couple sitting 6 in from me and couldn't even pause to hand us menus or say he would be right with us. in fact he as well as other bartenders went to help other people who arrived after us. my husband even attempted to alert them several times to no avail. none of them were friendly or welcoming. i have worked many years in thefoodindustry so i have no tolerance for this kind of horrible service. so we left promptly and they lost our business. and we were probably the best tippers there!

“food roulette.". we were all really hungry and were in a have fun mood so we went in and “ordered for all.”

we ordered such that we had enough for everyone to try some even if it meant that we ordered from 1 - 10 orders of each item.

everyone got to pick one item and as many orders as it would take for all to try.
when the bill arrived, we all paid our share of the total. we call it “food roulette.”

so, the picks of the players were:
beer battered shrimp;
braised pork belly with kimchi;
roast pork stack;
baked goat cheese;
braised pork belly bowl;
buddy brew coffee ice cream and
chocolate indulgence.

as you can see we were all on a pork frenzy that night.
you don’t want to know what the bill was, and we all paid our even share. wasn't really all that much.

we all got to try everything and some liked all and some were a little iffy about a couple of the items. but i can say this was a real funfoodgame and experience for a group of friends.

when you are looking for a delicious and unique meal look no further ! anise global gastrobar provides a dinning experience like no place else in tampa! the decor, styling, and aromas are as intoxicating as their incredible drinks. we had the pleasure of hanging out with sing, the owner, and mary, the executive chef, who gave us some insights on the restaurants styling and frequent menu changes/addition. where most restaurants have a pretty standard menu that has a schedule of yearly changes, anise is always experimenting with new things. “we change the menu whenever we feel inspired. ” -mary, executive chef. our customers love food, and so do we so why not share that love through our chef’s menu friday and saturday to test new dishes. with limited storage space it is critical that only the most delicious of delicious make it to the menu. there are some cornerstone dishes such as their famous stinky bunz, which were a huge success on their originalfoodtruck, jap chae korean noodles,
