great vibe. excellent food.. i have to admit, i selected this restaurant with an eye to the price and busting the 100% rating. pricing was good and i had to give it a thumbs up!
i stopped by with my wife at 2pm on a saturday. the place was packed, with a half dozen indian families and groups of 20'somethings but no real line. this, to my mind, was a good sign. she got a mild chickentikkamasala and i got a lunch combo with chickentikkamasala and lamb curry. the naan was fantastic. very good. the lamb curry was fine, but the chickentikkamasala was phenomenal. the chicken was tender, the flavor had just the right combination of depth and richness while still being light and yummy, and the spice (at medium) was a pleasant background that didn't overwhelm the dish at all.
i should mention that chickentikkamasala is my base dish for judging indian restaurants.
we had a great experience. the service was friendly. the ambiance was great, with modern indian top-40 style music playing in the background, bright colors and a nice cafe style decor. this is definitely casual dining, but great bang for the buck. my combo was only $6.99 and i took just a small amount home for the pleasant memory (i have a big appetite). that's incredibly cheap for the amazing quality and good portion size. my wife's entree was $12 plus $2 for the buttered naan and she took at least half home in a box.
i like to experiment and will continue to check out other indian restaurants, but if you told me i could only eat indian at one spot in town, this is the one i would pick!
