old school all day. i did not grow up in the dfw, but, had i, it would appear that angelo's is probably exactly the same as it was when i was born 40 some odd years ago. this is as old school as it gets. divider trays, white bread, cafeteria style dining, wood paneling, a stuffed bear that greats you, and simple tasty food with simple beer.
angelo's is my second favorite que after the railhead, a close second. the brisket is a bit sweeter than some, the sides are solid, but not memorable. but that whole lunch comes together so well. the potato salad is creamy and hearty, the baked beans have just enough smoke, and the simple white bread seems tough on paper, but in real life it works so well as a vehicle to get the bbq in your mouth or to soak-up that baked bean sauce.
