located away from the hustle of the main strip of edgewood is a gem of a pizza joint. it looks to be in a old warehouse and screams a upper class pizza restaurant but this isn't the case and that isn't a bad thing. youorderat the front counter or the large bar at the back. they have a great draft and beer list to start and a solid salad selection. the pizza is very good and is a italian style offering but what really shines is the pizza fritta. these are stuff with various toppings like a calzone but a monster size (enough for two people to share) and its twisted close then deep fried. this thing is amazing and is served with a huge bowl of sauce. so if you want to skip the line for antico drop by this place and you will be satisfied.

we checked this place out (recently voted best pizzain atl) before hitting up a concert at the tabernacle. we were definitely pleased with the quality of the pizza and of course enjoyed the wood burning stove method utilized here. the meat is sourced locally, and the crust has a unique, almost sourdough flavor that is wonderful. there are several combinations to choose from as well. the pizza is of the thin variety and the 12" works well for up to two adults with a moderate appetite. the cinnamon donut dessert is quite tasty. as far as the restaurant, youorderand pay as soon as you walk in. there are both individual tables, as well as community tables. water is self serve, as well as cutlery, plates, and napkins. they have a large selection of craft beer, too. considering its location, i can understand the prices, but i would still say that it is a bit overpriced.

vegan pizza. so i had the pleasure of dining here last night with two good friends. we arrived at around 6 pm and there was no line or wait. we placed ourorderand promptly found a booth with no trouble. my friends are vegan, and so i catered to their diet for a change of pace. the pizza "cheese" is made of cashews, and their are two options: i can't remember their names, but one has artichokes and the other does not. the crust and dough were very good, as were the other toppings. the artichoke pizza was the winner of the two. unlike the experiences of other reviewers, we had our pizzas on our table by a friendly server within 10 minutes. you can see everything going on in the kitchen from the dining room, and they have a fantastic bar. service is absent after they deliver the pies. you get your own plates, utensils and water, etc. overall, this was a good experience and much easier and less hectic that that other famous pizza place with the italian ovens everyone raves about. that place is very good, but for less hassle, i would come back here first for my authentic pizza fix.

  ammazza pizzeria, located in old fourth ward, definitely adds some more competition to the never-ending pizza wars in atlanta. a large group of us descended upon ammazza on a recent monday evening. while it was sparsely populated when we first arrived, it was packed by 8:30 when we were getting ready to leave. photo credit: lily h. of yelp.com the setup is strange. walk in the front andorderfood and drink. you can get your drinks right away. there’s a tap with like twenty different types of beer / wine available. you’ll get a table number to display at your table for food (seating is around the back). the strange thing they have service in the back too…sort of. you are responsible for getting your own dishes and silverware which are located along a back wall but if you want toorderany food, servers will take your order. if you want booze, you’ll have to head to the bar. confused yet?

this place obviously caters to young families (albeit a dj starts spinning at 10 pm till late on weekends for those lucky enough to have a sitter), offering a bucket of large and mini etch-a-sketches to occupy the kiddos as the pizzas are pulled and topped behind a huge glass window. the extremely friendly staff delivered ourorderin no time.
