theservicewas horrible. we called ahead and they said to come through but when we did they refused to seat us inside or outside despite the empty tables. the host was very rude and was judging us based on age and looks. will not recommend to anyone as it was an insulting experience.

not worth your time. pretty views, ruined by some of the worstservicei have ever experienced. very lazy and un-accomodating staff, refused to move us inside because he said he “couldn’t be bothered clearing and re-setting up a table despite the fact that it started raining and we were outside. did not ask if we wanted drink top ups, refused to give us a meal menu, honestly waste of time and waste of money, read the google reviews on this place and they will suggest better places to go.

if you want to taste art, this is the place to go.
i did the tasting menu and the presentation is well thought out, all the dishes were unique and ingesting. i liked that because it was a different experience.
the atmosphere of this restaurant is second to none with a huge fireplace and great views, was stunning!
their vines were also fabulous and theservicewas very professional

my favourite restaurant ever. a new chef maybe? all dishes ok but they use to be sensational. goodservice& a great way of eating with shared plates. can't beat the view. maybe everyone else is catching up with exceptional food & service. it's just not quite the same.

in a nutshell food was 10/10servicewas about a 2. very slow on ordering and delivering drinks. having to ask for more water and pouring yourself is not what i would expect. meals were very slow due to the fact our meal was given to the table next to us even though they didn't order that. food was exceptional though and at the end of the day that's why i go places.

went back in 2019 and as a 3 chef hat restaurants the experience was to die for... one of the best i’ve had. every dish well thought out and so much flavour. loved it

visited for dinner in may 2013 and then afternoon drinks in october 2014. trust the chef is the way to go. pork was outstanding and worth getting a bottle of their reserve pinot noir to go with it. serviceis of a high standard, consistent and friendly.

if you can't make it for lunch or dinner, totally worth going for a glass of wine in the courtyard.

my last visit was so disappointing that i will not only not return but will also actively recommend others go elsewhere.  this used to be a favourite but now it's the very opposite.

on this occasion, theservicewas ok, not especially warm or friendly. the food was quite honestly below average. none of the flavours or flair that the menu used to be known for were present. it was bland and not very well presented either.

i do feel that for $100 for lunch and a glass of two of wine (that was just my share) theserviceand food should be top-notch. their publicity over recent years has probably gone to their heads and they are so busy with visiting aucklanders (and royalty) that the local market is obviously of little interest to them.

never fails to amaze with sensationalserviceand exquisite food! we also did trust the chef, which included slow roasted leg of merino lamb, spinach risotto, salad, mash, smoked salmon, porcini broth, and a couple of other dishes followed by crema catalana, and accompanied by wine tasters. four wines in total, all quite delectable but was especially taken by the 2009 pinot noir! inside we sat in front of the roaring fire, and later when the sun came out we transferred outside to their beautiful courtyard! very pleasant way to spend the afternoon, thanks amisfield!

another reviewer wrote this:

"theservicewas faultless, the venue beautiful and the wine divine. if we had chosen our own items from the menu to share we believe our experience could have been fantastic"

and i couldn't agree more.
as we were pushed for time, we decided on trust the chef to try and maximise the different kinds of food we tasted in the short space of time.
the wine tasting and surroundings were beautiful, and even a chilly rainy day outside was softened by a cosy roaring fire inside.

theservicewas exceptional, and the staff had excellent knowledge of the food and wine.
the trust the chef food was delicious and beautifully presented, however it wasn't quite adventurous enough for us, and we were a little disappointed.

we also didn't have time for dessert, and by the looks of the menu i think i would have thoroughly enjoyed lingering over dessert/coffee.

next time we go we will make sure we have enough time to enjoy the menu properly (and have dessert!)

(we loved the wine enough to send a case home though)

love this place, have eaten here many times. very rarely disappoints. hard to beat on a sunny central day. food is sophistically simple, nicely seasoned, well cooked and tasty. the restaurant has lost little since the change of chef a year or 2 back. trust the chef a great option, the wine is wonderful and theservicefantastic.

as true foodies we had drooled over the mouth watering menu for months. finally having an occasion to celebrate the four of us opted for the 'trust the chef' selection at $60 pp (plus 20% surcharge as it was a public holiday) as we couldn't decide and wanted everything!
the first course of salmon was everything we expected, perfectly cured with a subtle beetroot flavour and beautifully presented.
then, spaghetti bolognaise, pan fried sole with potatoes roast rib eye with horseradish and lettuce. what an epic disappointment. all well cooked mid-week meals you would prepare for your family. not the kind of food you would expect to pay over $70 each for in an award winning restaurant.
theservicewas faultless, the venue beautiful and the wine divine. if we had chosen our own items from the menu to share we believe our experience could have been fantastic, however on the strength of our disappointment we won't be returning.

goodserviceand prices about what you would expect with this kind of experience.
for foodies, the ribeye with marrow butter is extraordinary as is the venison carpaccio. the chef is able to accommodate gluten intolerance, which is great considering the menu is purposely limited.
the wine tray is an inexpensive way to try three different wines with your meal and had we been here for dinner versus lunch, we probably would have gone with the chef's choice set menu which appears to be an excellent deal.
also, can't beat the setting. this place is wonderful choice for a long, leisurely meal.

not a lot to say only we have eaten there perhaps 4-5 times during the past 18 months when visiting queenstown.

not quite a s good as the millhouse at millbrook but fabulous all the same.

food is delicious, serviceexceedingly good and such a wonderfully and well designed restaurant. 5 visits says it all.

excellent every time we dine here. the 'trust the chef' selection is a great way to go taking the hard choices right out of your hands. local produce seem to be used where possible and the staff will even tell you where you can go locally to buy some of the produce to take home. not the place for a quick lunch as the whole experience needs to be savoured. the wines are of course also excellent. great outside dining area and on a cool day they even provide you with a blanket for your knee, a great and much appreciatedservicetouch (it is central otago after all). our favourite stop on the way to wanaka.
