we went here on a weekday for lunch. service was pretty good and the hostess kept checking on us. we started off with thethaicold coffee which was pretty good. it is a little towards the bitter side and not everyone may like it. my friend certainly did not. for the main course we ordered padthainoodles and decided to order more later. the noodles were really tasty, a little towards the sweet side. the complementary egg spring roll was super crispy and yummy. when the dish first came we thought it wouldn't be enough, but both my friend and i were super stuffed with that one dish. will definitely go again to try more dishes and get a full experience of the place.

very good!. pad thai, pad see u, andthaisweet tea are all quite enjoyable. portions are just right for me. the spice scale is wimpy; i have to add a lot of spice to 'thai hot' to make it right. keep in mind, i like to sweat when i eatthaifood. try this place out and you won't be disappointed!

i have eaten at chythaimany times (about once a month). it has always been good. the fish cakes are pretty good perhaps the second best in boulder. really like the yellow curry. the staff is always great and have a few moments to chat about asia.

i should have known this wasn't going to be very when i realized everyone who worked wasn'tthai. service speed was decent, but food was untraditional. very westernized which takes away from the taste of the food. i ordered chicken phadthaihottess they could make it, it came out pretty weak though

good- vegetarian friendly. i've gone here once and definitely want to go back. friendly and helpful staff. i got the padthaiand requested it be made vegetarian which they did without a fuss. try thethaiiced tea as it is equally as delicious as the food.

fyi: z is gluten-free (which means she can't eat wheat, rye, or barley) so our reviews are all from the gluten-free perspective. we care about how many gluten-free options the restaurant has and how helpful the staff is in dealing with our concerns.

gluten-free options: many gluten-free options are marked in the regular menu online (however, gf items are not marked in menus in the restaurant, so you might want to check online before you go). there is also a gluten-free "chythaispecial" menu on each table with a few gf entrees. gluten-free offerings include appetizers, soups, noodles, curry, stir fry, and fried rice. dine in or take out.

total from a to z: 3 stars

chy thai's biggest failing is one of training. on their website, they have a gf menu that is quite clear and covers most of the regular menu. but when you call or walk in to place an order, the people you deal with are not as well informed. the receipt said the items were gf, but i wasn't feeling confident. it is lucky that z is not super sensitive to gluten. this is really goodthaifood though.

as i've said before, when you're gluten-free any type of asian cusine can be tricky. when it comes to gluten-freethaifood, there's good news and there's bad news about chy thai. the good news is that chythaihas a lot of gluten-free options on its menu, and everything i have tried so far has been delicious. we've dined at chythaiand also had takeout over the past couple of months. i have tried the satay, the gaeng ga re curry, the pinapple fried rice, and the pad woon sen. (the pad woon sen was my favorite! hooray noodles!) and i am excited that there are still a lot of gluten-free options at chythaifor me to try.

the bad news is that the gluten-free options are only marked in the menu online - they're not available in the menus at the restaurant. and, unfortunately, the staff we have interacted with had absolutely no idea what being gluten-free meant, so we were unable to get any assistance from them in ordering. seeing as i am only gluten-free for rheumatoid arthritis (and not celiac) i don't get sick if a little bit of gluten makes it into my meal. however, if i did have celiac i probably wouldn't feel comfortable ordering from chythaiunless i was able to talk to someone on the staff who was more knowledgeable and reassuring about the contents of the food. overall i was a bit disappointed with chythaisince the gluten-free options seem so promising but i was left with a feeling that i wasn't sure if there was gluten in my dinner or not. perhaps chythaiwill work on training its staff better in the future.

the real flavour ofthaifood.. this restaurant has the bestthaifood i have ever eaten. when you ask for thethaispicy, you'll get what you ask for. if you are looking for the realthaiflavor, you'll get it from there. also they have an option for those who is a vegetarian and a wheat allergies too. awesome chy thai.

awesomethaifood. this is the bestthaifood in boulder. everything they make is made fresh each order. that's unusual for asian restaurants. it's a little pricy for typical asian restaurants but well worth it for what you get.

boulder not known for thai. this was one of the worstthairestaurants i've ever eaten at. the drunken noodle came in a a goopy brown sauce with overcooked green peppers and noodles that were sticking together in one mushy lump. the prices are high for the quality of food-- must be to sustain the slightly trendy chain-restaurant decor and location.
