duck wing cannelloni. love how the top was crunchy and the pasta under was chewy. rich sauce, cheese inside the pasta. yum!

wow! awesome romantic restaurant with 5 star food. we started with a pizza - benton's bacon (crisp and chewy, high quality) with mozzarella and ricotta. the wood fired oven crust thin and crunchy. just right. next came talleggio with truffled flatbread- so buttery i could have eaten only this and been satisfied. for entries we got the duck wing canneloni (heaven!) and the angel hair pasta with gulf shrimp. the dessert was best though. flourless chocolate cake with cinnamon gelato and whipped cream. the gelato is made in house and was the perfect accent to the deep dark chocolate (almost a brownie consistency). we will definitely be back. the staff was knowledgeable and worked like a well oiled machine. top marks! very romantic.

bad experience. we went to alleia for the first time last night for our one year wedding anniversary. we showed up on time to our reservation and were promptly seated at a tiny table for two. we waited for about 10 minutes before the server brought us our waters, but other than that our service was ok (not great) with the exception of over hearing our server talk negatively to another table about another near by italian restaurant (tony's). unfortunately, my husband was constantly bumped in the back of his chair and my chair was constantly bumped by the table behind me due to the small space. the food was ok. heads up - the menu online does not reflect the menu in house. we chose to eat here because of the variety of vegetarian options, but when we got there some of them no longer existed. since my husband wanted to try pasta, we payed 16 dollars for a meatless version - a little pricey, but fine. i had a pizza, which was also just ok. either way, our experience was not too great - especially for such an anticipated evening. sadly, i don't think we will ever go back.

listen folks... give this a try! the reviews don't lie. the staff, chef, and unique ambiance are second only to the delicious, well-paired and beautifully presented entrees. special requests are handled professionally and tastefully. no disappointments here.

as the resident foodie, i make most of our dining choices. 99% of the time i'm totally ok with this position, but occasionally it's nice to sit back and have someone else do the research and make the hard choices. a few weekends ago when we went to chattanooga, i let steve do all of the organization, and honestly, that was the best gift. when we arrived at the surprise dinner location, i was very impressed. steve did good, and alleia was beautiful. the design of the space is outstanding. dark wooden furniture, private high-walled booths with low lights and candles really pump up the romantic feel. you could feel all the effort that went into making this place gorgeous. i was a sucker for the large candelabra display on the back wall that was allowed to drip and form a beautiful cascade of wax. it reminded me of what you might see in a vampire's foyer. for a cocktail i ordered the coco tesoro which contained coconut ciroc, honey lavender syrup and lemon juice. the presentation of the co

excellent restaurant. my husband and i had dinner at alleia tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. our waiter was very knowledgeable and assisted us with making decisions about our choices. he didn't steer us wrong. we started with the carpaccio of beef then ordered the pork shoulder and pasta with veal breast. all were delicious but the pork shoulder was over the top! i had the vanhatten cocktail...delicious and smooth. we ordered dessert (didn't need it!): the flourless chocolate cake with cinnamon gelato. delicious, especially the gelato! our only complaint was that the music was too loud for our tastes; a little intrusive despite sitting in a booth with sides (which made it easier to hear each other). if we lived in the area, we would make this place a regular.

excellent service and food!. we were looking for a good restaurant for my wife's birthday. we settled on alleia after hearing that it was linked to st. john's and after finding coupons at costco. we were not disappointed.

i must say at the outset that we did not experience any of the poor service or attitudes that were listed in some of the other reviews. our servers and hostesses were courteous, efficient, and knowledgeable. arturo, our server, was particularly polite and on-the-ball. he knew all of the details of every dish and took great care of us.

for appetizers, we ordered the bacon-rolled roasted dates with basalmic reduction, the tomato soup, and the mussels. all were to die for but the dates stole the show.

for our main dish, we had the short ribs, the pork shoulder, and pork tenderloin scallopini. these came with various assortments of polenta or potatoes. all were phenomenal but my favorite were the short ribs.

we washed all of this down with a bottle of aglianico from villa mathilde rocco dei leoni. very good.

i highly recommend alleia for anyone looking for a good dinner in chattanooga. we will definitely go back again.

nice ambiance but the food was a big disappointment. i ordered the pumpkin ravioli with braised pork and my boyfriend ordered the tagliatelle. the ravioli dish was strangely sweet while the sauce, also overly sweet, tasted nothing of wine as the menu claimed. the tagliatelle was under seasoned and uninspiring. frankly, carrabas tastes more authentic and is a much better value. we won't be returning and do not recommend alleia.

truly the best italian in chattanooga! their mussel appetiser is to die for. i haven't had a meal there yet that i didn't love. my husband loves their pork shoulder which is cooked all night and just falls apart. if you haven't eaten herethen you have really been missing out!

love the food, but watch out for the older waiter with the gray ponytail - he seemed to be more interested "educating" us about italian food than listening to what we were ordering...in fact he was so slow he forgot to bring things several times, and didn't even get us our boxed food at the end, after we asked him to. love this restaurant, but i think it's time for that waiter to go.

needs a tune-up!. i must start out by saying that the food was phenomenal and i was impressed by the wine selection. however, there were a few goings on among the staff that was less than pleasing. as a quiet guest in the bar within the last week or so, i noticed a lot. as having been employed in the restaurant industry for many of my younger years, i know what a well-run establishment looks like. alleia was not cutting it. there were a couple of male employees with long, unwashed hair. when i asked one of them for directions to the restroom, he reeked of alcohol. hopefully from the night before and not from drinking on the job. a guest near me had a complaint and asked to speak to the manager. instead, one of the bartenders attempted to solve the problem. if i had asked for the manager, i would expect to speak with a manager. not some young prick pretending to have authority in the restaurant. when i did see the manager on duty that evening walking around the restaurant, she looked extremely unhappy and annoyed. i hope she was only filling in for the main manager. if not, alleia is going to become a has-been restaurant before we know it.

needless to say, i will be back for some bacon wrapped dates, however, i will be taking them to-go.

snobby. this place is good, but it's not as good as the staff apparently think it is. pretty uppity for a place that has rather typical food. it's good! but they are definitely feeding off the fact that chattanooga still thinks atmosphere and "homemade" is the height of culinary sophistication. like i said, it's good, but the prices are laughable and the staff is rather snobby. great place for work meetings and social gatherings, not for casual dining.

one of the best meals in chattanooga. this place makes you feel like you're in a big city. located in the revamped south side of chattanooga, this restaurant is must for a nice dinner with your significant other. the cuisine is very authentic italian and the wait staff is very educated on their menu and takes care of you as team. they are very prompt and courteous but not overbearing at all. the food is even better than the pictures. i highly recommend the hand dipped ricotta bruschetta with honey and the home made cinnamon gelato was also fantastic.
