akashi sushi

to the person above me... okay so i happen to work at thissushibar, and thank you so much for your opinion :)
the first week we were open-- yes there was kinks but it was the first week!!
oursushidoes not have strawberry and kiwi sauce on it, except for the happy sumo roll, but most dishes do have it on the plate.
so you should come back now that we've been open for aout two months, and maybe you'd enjoy it a little better :)

super cute! strong drinks!. i tasted the happy sumo roll and it was delicious! the fact that it was fried wasn't too great on the waistline though :) i also had something else but i don't remember what it was called... some beefsushifor $12 and that was excellent! even had little jalapeno pieces on top for an extra kick! the ambience here is nice... good to see something different and you definitely wouldn't expect it to look like that from the outside! the first time i went i had some mixed drinks with a friend and they were definitely quite strong! well worth the $6.

great mix of chinese and japanese food with friendly service!

the best asian food in kingwood, at least the best japanese andsushiin kingwood. their specialty and chefs rolls can be adventurous but the udon and tempura are great and all the food is fresh. the service is attentive, helpful and friendly.

always full. there's a reason this place is always full.

it may not have the best service (in fact service can be amazing one day and shockingly bad the next). it may get a little loud. it may not be the cheapestsushiplace.

but the food is consistently above "good" and the cooks will work with your dietary needs. forsushiin our area it's probably the freshest fish and absolutely the fastest in terms of getting food to the table.

plus, there are some really wonderful regular (non-sushi) menu items.

you need to ordersushiitems cut thin and without sauce...and don't be afraid to send it back because - hey - they aren't cheap prices and the owners will fix the food.

overall we keep going back. there's some improvement in service over the past few months.

thesushiwas terrible. it was slathered in really heavy sauces, to the point where you could barely tell there was fish in there.

i like the modern decor and it seems family friendly enough (i've seen families with high chairs at their tables). my biggest gripe is i wish not all of theirsushiwas topped with excessive sauces. i thought i picked menu items without sauce or tempura crunch but they sauced my food anyway (perhaps for decorative purposes?) i don't want mysushito be slathered in sugar or mayo. is this too much to ask? fresh fish should speak for itself.
my son ordered chinese food at a japanese restaurant. not a good move. the portions were small and the food is not good.

great food and great atmosphere! we had four of theirsushiplatters and a bento box and everything was delicious! definitely going back on a regular basis. can't wait to try another dish. their waitstaff needs work though; lacks revisiting to refill drinks.

going downhill from cutting costs.sushiis still delicious, but they put too much emphasis on the "fusion" bit. hard to get sashimi without extra sauces and stuff all over it. the chinese menu used to be good, but they've started cutting down on the amount of meat in the dishes, so get ready for a plate full of veggies if you order a chinese dish. when i do get food here, i order it to go; even thought they've toned down the technocrap music, it still is a pain to try and have a conversation at a table there. too bad, because with a few tweaks, they could be by far the best asian cuisine in kingwood. one great thing that does set them above the other asian restaurants in kingwood is that if the menu indicates a dish is spicy, it will actually have some heat to it. all the others here are a joke if you want a spicy dish, with the exception of red curry thai restaurant.

sushi is really really good, service is horrible. i like thesushienough to go in every now and then, but if they downgrade on thesushithey'll go out of business. awful service

newsushiin kingwood. we have visited this place twice.
the first time was on the opening weekend.
thesushiwas good, but the service was spotty. we chalked it up to opening week rust.
our second visit, we sat at thesushibar and had an excellent time. thesushichef is friendly and we enjoyed his recommendations.

another restaurant that you have yell to be heard. to start with playing club dance music for dinner service? the only place this works are the topless clubs with buffets. the art ofsushiis all about show casing the quality of the ingredients from the freshness of the fish to the quality of the preparation of the rice. well they really fell down on this point. when you wear most of the rice or leave it in piles on the plate this is not good sushi. i ordered one of the specialty rolls and it said it came with homemade eel sauce. it in norah said it would swimming in it! it actually looked like it was swimming in vomit there was more than one sauce in the bowl. also the use strawberry coulis and kiwi coulis on all thesushiplates. really? really? on sushi? not s good taste sensastion! i think they want to be the "new trendy" place to go. in kingwood? trendy? really? this is a new place and hopefully they will listen to their customers and make some important changes before they start to lose business. we will not be back! be for warned!
