great food great atmosphere. para la gente simple, asi que si tu le la das de millonario sigue caminando. if you come here expecting 5 star service and pampering go somewhere else. this isn't a bad thing but some people expect every place they eat to be that and then come on here and give businesses bad reviews when the business isn't that. reviewed within its category this is a great place with slight room for improvement, give them a chance and they'll continue to learn and get better.
this is all about the food and the food isgoodand priced reasonably. some people don't understand how a latin restaurant works. let me explain something to you, not all the food is ready at the same time and some things have to be made on the spot. i've had rice and beans made by many different places and no 2 are exactly the same but they have all beengoodto me, i appreciate the slight differences in how caribbean people cook the same thing. i don't care that about the chairs, or the plates...i care about what i am putting into my mouth...la camida y nada mas. asi que dejen tanta quejaderas y coman que ustedes saben que eso esta bueno. the complaints about this place posted here is like if i went to a food truck after the club and bitched about not having a waiter...pendejadas like that.

terrible service!. my husband and i went there today based on thegoodreviews, and it turned out to be the most disappointing dining experience ever! we ordered two entrees and even though people who arrived after us were served, we waited. finally we received one entree with the assurance the other was not far behind. fortunately, my husband shared his entree; in the meantime, other people arrived, ordered and received their meals. fifteen minutes after the first entree was received, the second was delivered. we brought it home. we'll never go there again and will not recommend it to anyone.

surprisinglygoodfood. i try to stay away from chains and eat at holes-in-the-wall. never had puerto rican food and was pleasantly surprised. the service was great and the food even better. the house-made mango juice was awesome. overall the experience was awesome.

great food. the closest i've been to mom's original pr cooking. i can wing making rice & beans pr-style, but these are the best ever. i think even better than mom's (sorry mom)! so the place can use a little decorative improvement...this "cafe" is all about thegoodfood. been here twice with a few non-pr friends that never knew what pr food was about & they loved it!

last time i was here was 8 months ago, it's about time to renew and refresh the ambience of this place, now they even charge for the ice... plastic chair and disposable container doesn't make it very appealing , staff would need to look more professional, since this is the only place to find this food, make the drive worth it. food is tasty tho.

delicious food. very affordable, fresh made daily. my fav carne guisada (beef stew) with white rice and red beans puerto rican style. it is a cafeteria with plastic chairs, food served on disposable plates i guess that makes it inexpensive. i would recommend it.

right. food tastesgoodbut no customer service, no glamour at all. togo boxes instead of real plates that was the worst thing ever, so uncomfortable.

the only puerto rican restaurant in the dfw area.. adobo is good, i like it but we don't have any other puerto rican restaurant in the dfw metroplex. the mofongo is ok at best, their pernil is very, very, very good, the alcapurias are verygoodand so are the tostones. arroz con gandules is very good. you will have to try their dishes to see which ones you like. the best thing about adobo is that they have pan sobao which is awesome, prior to adobo i would have to go back home to get pan soabo. it is a little pricey but the fact that i can have the pan is well worth the price.

not worth the money spent!. i've been to this eatery a few times while on layover in dallas, mostly with local friends. you would think that being the only puerto rican restaurant currently in operation in the metroplex, that the owners would take pride in their establishment, but that is not the case. i went there a few days ago and ordered steak with onions, rice and beans. it took them 45 minutes to get the food to the table. when i looked for the onions on the steak, there were only a few pieces and when asked what had happened to them, the waitress said that they had apparently broken up in the cooking process. the restaurant does not believe in washing dishes so they serve everything in styrofoam containers, even the beans ( not the best favored i may add here ),are served in foam 'dixie cups'. another pet peave are the tables that wobble and are unstable, plus the plastic lawn chairs. perhaps what i mind the most is the high price of the otherwise nothing to write home about food and presentation, and the 'take it or leave it' attitude of the people that work behind the counter. i did meet the owner and he is very nice and welcoming, but if he is to stay in business, he needs to improve things and fast. next time i am in dallas, i will go to "caribbean cafe" which is cuban, or, casa vieja, which is colombian. there is also inca's cafe, a very elegant but affordable peruvian restaurant, also within 30 minutes from the dfw airport.

puerto rican food is great but it needs to be presented well and has to be consistently ofgoodquality.

such high hopes.... i am puerto rican and had such high hopes for this place based on pics from fb and youtube.

cash only. i had for $7.75.
chuleta frita:goodportion, ok flavor mildly seasoned
arroz,: large portion, but dry
habichuelas: small portion,goodflavor
ensalada: small portion, couple pieces lettuce, half a tomato slice

15 minutes to place order and 30 minutes to get food. tables with plastic lawn chairs to sit in, maybe they have real chairs on order. no coke machine only cans with ice they get from a cooler. my diet coke, i noticed, expired in feb. 2011. they must make the meat on each plate, one plate at a time as nothing can explain the 30min delay. i saw the rice and beans were already ready when i ordered. the place had about 10ppl in there when we arrived at 11:45am. i saw the mofongo made one serving at a time. skimpy on beans and no bread. it was back there waiting to be baked but they didn't have any to offer. i saw at 2pm they posted on fb that the bread was ready. when lunch is over...?
