great food!. i visited zooroona with a group of friends today. i order the falafel wrap and another ordered the beef/lamb wrap. the sandwiches were switched, but they were so good, we didn't even realize that we weren't eating what we had ordered!

great price for what was included; cup of delicious lentil soup and the wrap with pickled radishes and some deliciously sour pickles on the side. all that for $5! others in our group ordered an shawerma chicken and an eggplant dish that were equally as delicious. i'd certainly recommend zooroona for lunch or dinner.

it feels like home! i eat at this restaurant every week. love the staff! great place if you want your middle eastern food or want to try something new. plus who wouldn't like seeing belly dancers on the weekends there!

one of my favorites. this is really a surprisingly great restaurant. the decor is a little over the top (by that i mean the giant mural of belly dancers) but the rest looks really nice. they have a great selection of unique tea's, and the food tastes fresh and is well seasoned. the hummus is a true hummus not a chickpea mash and is some of the best i've ever had. our server was condescending about the menu and didn't seem to want to answer any questions, she also gossiped loudly to the table next to us about personal business and it made me uncomfortable. i don't hold this against the restaurant though as servers are usually great or terrible and they rotate regularly at most places. i'm more focused on the food which was great and reasonably priced. portions are huge enough to take home and eat the next day. will go back for sure.

my wife and i arrived just after the dinner rush on a saturday. we were greeted and seated immediately. turkish coffee for me, and darseen (black tea with cinnamon) for my wife. both were very good. we were promptly served their complimentary naan bread with olive oil and spice. we opted for the pumpkin hummous for an appetizer which was also very good. i ordered the chicken biryani with the moroccan spice soup and my wife ordered the chicken galaya with the lentil soup. our entrees took a little time to prepare, but not an excessive amount of time considering everything is prepared to order. this gave us some time to enjoy our coffee and tea while taking in the cozy atmosphere. when our food came, it was steaming hot and smelled great. my chicken biryani came with a cucumber sauce and a boiled egg. my dinner was amazing. i've had biryani at several places and it has always surprised me that each place has their own way of making it. well, zooroona makes excellent biryani. my wife also thoroughly enjoyed her galaya with no complaints. in fact, we so enjoyed our meals that we can't wait to come back again.

we adore zooroona!. we travel extensively and zooroona's food, atmosphere and service excellence are unparalleled. the food is really inexpensive and much higher quality than we have found anywhere - including san francisco and new york. if you don't fall in love with zooroona -and stay with that feeling, it's would be hard to to believe. go for it! enjoy ...

always the best!. there is no question as to why zooroona remains my favorite restaurant; the food, the hospitality, and the atmosphere are above and beyond what one could ever expect. the menu displays a wide range of middle eastern cuisine for all palates, be it carnivores, vegetarians, or even vegans. the wine list is perfect for the cuisine and the servers are always right on with the pairing suggestions. when your mouth dances after the dessert hits it, you will surely say, "zooroona is kalamazoo's gem". see you there!

just so-so. wanted to try this place as it was highly recommended by someone i know, but i wasn't overly impressed. the complimentary pita they gave us was very tough. some more came with the appetizer sampler, which was better, but still a bit too chewy. the wraps we ordered were fine, but not a lot different than you can get at many other restaurants. curry potatoes and soups were both tasty.

service was average but they were very slow getting our order out. we ordered when we got the appetizer, but it was a good half-hour after we finished it that our entrees finally arrived - and all we had were wraps. the tea was a pleasant surprise, served in pretty little turkish(?) cups from a small teapot.

overall it just seemed a little pricey for what you get. not in a big hurry to go back.

nice atmosphere, okay food. i have driven by this place a million times so i was excited to finally stop in for lunch to try it. the atmosphere of the place is pretty great - nice furnishings and decorations, though the jazz music that played while we were there was pretty cheesy. the service was very good, no complaints there. lunch started out well with lentil soup - very tasty. when our main meals came out everything was kind of hit or miss. one of us had the salmon kabob plate and the other had the shish tawook plate. the salmon was good, the tawook was dry. the zataar fries were okay and the curry potato was good. the bread served with the meal was rubbery, the saffron rice was tasty.

i'm glad we tried the place but i was disappointed that some of the food seemed to be poorly prepared.

no thanks.. we have given this restaurant several tries, and while i love this style of cuisine, i must contest that it is an overpriced version of shawarma king. not impressed with entrees (grilled vegetables, beef and figs, chicken tawook and shawarma have all been unimpressive). service has left something to be desired on most occasions, and the price is a bit too steep for what is put in front of you.

severely disappointed.. went here a few months ago with my wife for lunch. no one greeted us at the door when we walked in...not too out of the ordinary, but one really shouldn't wait more then a minute to be acknowledged or for someone to come seat you. we were one of two tables in there for lunch that day.

we got seated and looked over the menu. my wife ordered the chicken wrap with mango lassi and i ordered the lunch combo. our wait wasn't too long on the food but then again our waitress was the only person there that afternoon. not only that, but our waitress was making the mango lassi, the salad and some plating of food.

the soups we had were good, so no problem there.

the food, well, where to start. my dish was either too greasy and not at all what i had expected (kibbi) or too bland. my wife's chicken wrap was bland and she realized towards the end some of the chicken was not cooked all the way. we pointed it out to the waitress and she gave us some excuse as to why this is...doesn't matter why or how this happened, it happened and your cook served it this way! she gave us a free piece of baklava.

i feel as if this place has become a victim of its own success. when they first opened they were really good and flawless with everything. this was even the case at least one year ago...but now, it seems they don't care about the quality of food they put out, they just like to look cool.

i do apologize for this review being vague in any way but it was at least a month ago when i went and other bad reviews for places has encouraged me to finally review this place.

i was in kalamazoo for an event at western mi university and found zooroona on urbanspoon. food and service were great. our daughter had never eaten middle eastern food before and our server, mace, was able to guide her to something on the menu she enjoyed. we all had a good time and i would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a culinary adventure.

love it!. love the ambiance! sat on the pillows near the water fountain. so nice to go somewhere with some imagination and loved that they used fresh spices. the hummus is great too. had a spicy fried potato appetizer that was really nice. liked that they use cloth napkins and nice silverware and have a good wine list. this place was romantic but i would imagine fun for kids as well. our server was very helpful with suggestions and friendly.
