zara's cafe

lovely café with a relaxed atmosphere. staff arefriendlyand helpful. zara's wide range of devine teas are an added bonus for tea lovers like myself. was happy to discover that this cafe also has a generator and keeps running even when there is loadshedding.

we had lunch at zaras on the 7 may '16. the owner came and discuss the menu with us and made recommendations. our waiter sagren wasfriendlyand helpful. we ordered the lam on flatbread, the pork belly and veggies and falafel on flatbread. the food was tasty but the portion of the pork belly meat can be a little bit more. we enjoyed the meal and will go back.

p and i went for a teeny weeny break and landed up in the ballito. we thought that we would get away from the haunting load shedding but alas we weren't so lucky. we decided to go out for brunch and zara's cafe is all prepped with a generator for times like these.

p ordered a salmon bagel and i had a breakfast ciabata. the salmon bagel was great, just enough of everything to make it scrumptious. salmon stuff in a bagel with some avo, creamed cheese and some greens..

my breakfast bagel had was filled with scrambled eggs, bacon and heavenly relish that gave it the right amount of acidity. to drink i had a cappuccino freezo and p had the berry freezo.

what i liked was the middle of the entrance to the cafe had a table of baked treats from the absolute amazing delicacies from red velvet cake to a heaven-sent carrot cake that is moist, soft and deliciousness.

being a foodie, i take photos of everything.. i think i must have given the managers a fright thinking i'm a spy or from the health department. but as i explained i just love writing reviews, they relaxed. i met the owner named zara, she is so adorable and you can see that she loved what she does, a total social butterfly and you can see the community loves and appreciates her.

spha was our waiter, he is reallyfriendlyand offers any advice you want. he explains the dishes in depth and is there to make your visit comfortable. what i thought was rather rude was the fact that while he was busy talking to us, his colleagues were bugging him asking him questions to which he was distracted - guys when a waiter is with a client let him concentrate on the client as doing that is perceived really rude. let him work his magic to which he totally excels in.

the ambiance in the restaurant is relaxed and you can feel that you in a holiday town so people are just relaxing. like the actor arnold schwatzinager says "i'll be back" to try some of your other dishes.. well done.

great breakfast spot. staff are veryfriendlyand food is good quality and quite tasty. coffee is also great!! good selection of a fusion of greek and italian dishes on offer.

beautiful establishment and a warm andfriendlyhost. ambiance is good and the place is always busy with great food being enjoyed by loyal patrons. staff is excellent too with service on point

we enjoyed the outdoor seating which minimised the noise of this really busy cafe. we found the food to be inconsistent as some of the dishes were really good while the others were completely bland. the staff were veryfriendlyand accomodating.

really good breakfast withfriendlyquick service. lovely fresh bread and very interesting menu. would recommend then and will be back myself.

now here is a place unlike any other!  zara's has a unique menu featuring things you just don't find everywhere.  of particular note are their salads, their baked goods, and their pastas.  they have sandwiches and pastas different from what you get in most restaurants, some of them with a but of a greek twist.  smoothies and crushes are superb and very refreshing on a hot day.  zara does these wonderful bunny chows--they look small but looks are deceiving; they sure do fill you up.  they make a red velvet cake that's quite distinct and some really nice greek custard slices (i forget the name), but be warned--the chicken livers are very hot!!!!!  ambiance is lively; zara has made her restaurant into the focal point of the lifestyle centre.  the service is veryfriendlyand attentive.  my only wish is for just a few more classic greek things on the menu.
