yuzu has gradually become my favorite japanese restaurant in auckland, even if the head cook/owner is actually korean. but he trained in japan and the foodyuzuputs up has in my experience always been well prepared, well served and solidly middle of the road japanese. that is, they don't have fugu on the menu but the tuna tataki is pretty hard to beat.
prices are sensible, service is cheerful and the place usually isn't too crowded at lunch time, which makes it a good place to take visitors. evenings the place usually fills up, so booking ahead is a good idea.
