visited for brunch. the brunch buffet was tempting but we opted to just order individual dishes. food was good but nothing memorable. service was really great and the restaurant is very clean and well decorated. would be willing to give it another try but can't make recommendations.

i've been here a few times for both lunch and dinner. the service is really good. i'm not crazy about the menu but the food is delicious. definitely worth a try.

ate the breakfast on a weekday. amazing decor but the service was poor and food was so so. i assume they do the breakfast as a service to the hotel, but it was poorly done. it was very expensive and the food was basic. not worth the money. walk a few blocks and check out some other options that are much better.

my fourth year here at the hotel arts, and therefore my fourth year eating at the yellow door bistro.
tonight i had the clam and bacon flatbread and an espresso martini. the martini was perfect; and the espresso beans floating on top was a nice touch. the flatbread was amazing! it was fun to dig out the clam and lay it back on the bread. there was the right amount of pesto and cheese.
my favourite time to eat here however, is in the morning for their incredible breakfast. this is a must try for any food lover!

such an amazing meal and rarely busy!
classy lunch and dinner menus, fairly priced, great drink menu.
very accommodating for dietary restrictions, they even made a vegan dish off the menu by request!
consistently good health inspections.

i was in charge of picking the restaurant for a surprise party for my friend scary sherry. i’m not making fun of her behind her back, that’s her nickname. our mutual friend, jg, actually formally introduced me to her as “scary sherry”. to this day, i still don’t know how sherry got the scary.

yellow door bistro is a quirky restaurant attached to hotel arts.  the place is filled with such a random assortment of décor that works perfectly together, as it fills you up with a feeling of joy.   . pomegranate glazed quail- apple / endive pomegranate brown butter. the small and adorable quail was prepared very well and tasted amazing.  great depth of flavours which paired perfectly with the crispy apple and endives.  a little bed of braised quail underneath helped since john was starving.

came here for dinner on a quiet tuesday night. food was tasty, and service was attentive. i've heard great things about their weekend brunch buffet so i'm excited to come back and give it a try!

i met a new friend here on a tuesday evening for dinner. the restaurant has a welcoming yellow door (of course!) and it`s in a trendy neighbourhood south of downtown. the restaurant was pretty empty, which seems to be the norm in calgary during the week. the restaurant is a lot larger than i expected, with a few different seating areas, all nicely decorated. we were seated near the front of the restaurant near the giant horse lamp… odd.

a surprise for everyone at our table was an amuse-bouche of foie gras and chicken liver parfait with rhurbarb gelee. all eight of us loved this parfait shooter. the foam was fruity, while the rest of the mixture was rich and creamy.

cold food and fruit not fresh and over price. we had the buffet the food was cold. the muffin on the egg benedict was like rock. the secretion on pastry was limited. the friut is not fresh. for what they charge us, $24 per person, it was really not up to standard. the ambiance was nice and it made up for the bad food.

too precious and too pricey. four of us had dinner on a week night. the restaurant was mostly empty. hilights of the meal were the first course: onion soup and truffle perogies. and the wine choices were good. but the mains were unnecessarily fussy and disappointing. sablefish is hard to mess up but it was undercooked and the accompaniments made no sense. deconstructed coq au vin - why bother? sweet potato gnocchi was underwhelming gnocchi served on sweet potatoes. even the desserts were disappointing. i enjoy creative cooking when the dishes are well composed and well executed but this wasn't the case.

not a good option for brunch. two friends and i went to the yellow door for a brunch last sunday and honestly it was such a disappointment! there is 3 options for brunch: buffet, continental and a la carte. i took a look at the buffet and the options were not very attractive, so i decided to go for the continental option which was pretty much, pastries, some cheese and oatmeal and my friends ordered 2 eggs benedict. one of the egg benedict was very cold and the eggs were not poached the way she ordered (medium). after complaining with the waitress another one was brought and it seemed to be ok. coffee was served cold twice! even the waitress got embarrassed when she realized the coffee was totally cold!

the buffet lacks variety.. the only thing i really like about the this place was the ambiance.. it's very modern and i like the style.

overall.. bad experience. i was expecting way more from such a place like the yellow door. i do not recommend this place for brunch.

was here on a saturday morning and though it was half full, the hostess gave me the gears about only staying for an hour and a half due to another reservation coming at 1 pm. at 7 minutes to 1pm i was leaving and it was still only half full. once again the single diner is discriminated against. the salmon benny i had was tasty but uninspired, and the hash brown were the chunky deep fat fried ones that you get at any greasy spoon diner. i would have expected more effort and innovation with the salmon benny at this restaurant.

arrived for brunch and was going to have the buffet but they were just in the midst of replenishing quite a few of the items. so i opted to order off the menu and chose the smoked salmon eggs benedict. without reservation, i can say these were the best i have ever had. i'm not sure if the make their own english muffins, but it tasted like it. i'll bet the eggs were organic, and the hollandaise was to die for. highly recommended!!
