girlie drinks?. after attending a wicked concert at the mts centre, a girlfriend and i went pub hopping, making the yellow dog tavern our first spot.
the pub was super packed and had great music playing... overall amazing vibe.
my friend and i went to the bar, got the bartenders attention and before we could order, the bartender said to us "just so you know... we specialize in soctch and beer...we do not serve girlie drinks"
both of us were completely offended (if it is any consolation we are both huge beer fans... and can gladly takebacka nice scotch on the rocks) we are both good sports, we made a joke a long the lines of "pretty girls can drink scotch too" and he just laughed and said "ya right"... making us feel completely uncomfortable.
we ordered a beer, chatted with a great group of people and left. had a great night besides the sexist remarks. i wouldn't go back, as i felt awkward and unwelcome for being female.
working in the restaurant industry i can understand that there is such a thing as "having a bad night" but i just am unable to justify the bartenders remarks.
any feedback the yellow dog tavern, or other patrons can offer is much appreciated. i also realize that staff members are not the business, and i am willing to give the pub another chance as it may not be values of the business. i am curious if anyone else has felt this way at the yellow dog or somewhere else?
